1 In jener Zeit ging Jesus an einem Sabbat durch die Kornfelder. Seine Jünger hatten Hunger; sie rissen deshalb Ähren ab und aßen davon.	1 At that time Jesus went through the corn on the sabbath: and his disciples being hungry, began to pluck the ears, and to eat.
2 Die Pharisäer sahen es und sagten zu ihm: Sieh her, deine Jünger tun etwas, das am Sabbat verboten ist.	2 And the Pharisees seeing them, said to him: Behold thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days.
3 Da sagte er zu ihnen: Habt ihr nicht gelesen, was David getan hat, als er und seine Begleiter hungrig waren -	3 But he said to them: Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and they that were with him:
4 wie er in das Haus Gottes ging und wie sie die heiligen Brote aßen, die weder er noch seine Begleiter, sondern nur die Priester essen durften?	4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the loaves of proposition, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for them that were with him, but for the priests only?
5 Oder habt ihr nicht im Gesetz gelesen, dass am Sabbat die Priester im Tempel den Sabbat entweihen, ohne sich schuldig zu machen?	5 Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple break the sabbath, and are without blame?
6 Ich sage euch: Hier ist einer, der größer ist als der Tempel.	6 But I tell you that there is here a greater than the temple.
7 Wenn ihr begriffen hättet, was das heißt: Barmherzigkeit will ich, nicht Opfer, dann hättet ihr nicht Unschuldige verurteilt;	7 And if you knew what this meaneth: I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: you would never have condemned the innocent.
8 denn der Menschensohn ist Herr über den Sabbat.	8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath.
9 Darauf verließ er sie und ging in ihre Synagoge.	9 And when he has passed from thence, he came into their synagogues.
10 Dort saß ein Mann, dessen Hand verdorrt war. Sie fragten ihn: Ist es am Sabbat erlaubt zu heilen? Sie suchten nämlich einen Grund zur Anklage gegen ihn.	10 And behold there was a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying: Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11 Er antwortete: Wer von euch wird, wenn ihm am Sabbat sein Schaf in eine Grube fällt, es nicht sofort wieder herausziehen?	11 But he said to them: What man shall there be among you, that hath one sheep: and if the same fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not take hold on it and lift it up?
12 Und wie viel mehr ist ein Mensch wert als ein Schaf! Darum ist es am Sabbat erlaubt, Gutes zu tun.	12 How much better is a man than a sheep? Therefore it it lawful to do a good deed on the sabbath days.
13 Dann sagte er zu dem Mann: Streck deine Hand aus! Er streckte sie aus, und die Hand war wieder ebenso gesund wie die andere.	13 Then he saith to the man: Stretch forth thy hand; and he stretched it forth, and it was restored to health even as the other.
14 Die Pharisäer aber gingen hinaus und fassten den Beschluss, Jesus umzubringen.	14 And the Pharisees going out made a consultation against him, how they might destroy him.
15 Als Jesus das erfuhr, ging er von dort weg. Viele folgten ihm, und er heilte alle Kranken.	15 But Jesus knowing it, retired from thence: and many followed him, and he healed them all.
16 Aber er verbot ihnen, in der Öffentlichkeit von ihm zu reden.	16 And he charged them that they should not make him known.
17 Auf diese Weise sollte sich erfüllen, was durch den Propheten Jesaja gesagt worden ist:	17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaias the prophet, saying:
18 Seht, das ist mein Knecht, den ich erwählt habe, mein Geliebter, an dem ich Gefallen gefunden habe. Ich werde meinen Geist auf ihn legen und er wird den Völkern das Recht verkünden.	18 Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul hath been well pleased. I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
19 Er wird nicht zanken und nicht schreien und man wird seine Stimme nicht auf den Straßen hören.	19 He shall not contend, nor cry out, neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
20 Das geknickte Rohr wird er nicht zerbrechen und den glimmenden Docht nicht auslöschen, bis er dem Recht zum Sieg verholfen hat.	20 The bruised reed he shall not break: and smoking flax he shall not extinguish: till he send forth judgment unto victory.
21 Und auf seinen Namen werden die Völker ihre Hoffnung setzen.	21 And in his name the Gentiles shall hope.
22 Damals brachte man zu ihm einen Besessenen, der blind und stumm war. Jesus heilte ihn, sodass der Stumme wieder reden und sehen konnte.	22 Then was offered to him one possessed with a devil, blind and dumb: and he healed him, so that he spoke and saw.
23 Da gerieten alle Leute außer sich und sagten: Ist er etwa der Sohn Davids?	23 And all the multitudes were amazed, and said: Is not this the son of David?
24 Als die Pharisäer das hörten, sagten sie: Nur mit Hilfe von Beelzebul, dem Anführer der Dämonen, kann er die Dämonen austreiben.	24 But the Pharisees hearing it, said: This man casteth not out the devils but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
25 Doch Jesus wusste, was sie dachten, und sagte zu ihnen: Jedes Reich, das in sich gespalten ist, geht zugrunde, und keine Stadt und keine Familie, die in sich gespalten ist, wird Bestand haben.	25 And Jesus knowing their thoughts, said to them: Every kingdom divided against itself shall be made desolate: and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.
26 Wenn also der Satan den Satan austreibt, dann liegt der Satan mit sich selbst im Streit. Wie kann sein Reich dann Bestand haben?	26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself: how then shall his kingdom stand?
27 Und wenn ich die Dämonen durch Beelzebul austreibe, durch wen treiben dann eure Anhänger sie aus? Sie selbst also sprechen euch das Urteil.	27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.
28 Wenn ich aber die Dämonen durch den Geist Gottes austreibe, dann ist das Reich Gottes schon zu euch gekommen.	28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out devils, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.
29 Wie kann einer in das Haus eines starken Mannes einbrechen und ihm den Hausrat rauben, wenn er den Mann nicht vorher fesselt? Erst dann kann er sein Haus plündern.	29 Or how can any one enter into the house of the strong, and rifle his goods, unless he first bind the strong? and then he will rifle his house.
30 Wer nicht für mich ist, der ist gegen mich; wer nicht mit mir sammelt, der zerstreut.	30 He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
31 Darum sage ich euch: Jede Sünde und Lästerung wird den Menschen vergeben werden, aber die Lästerung gegen den Geist wird nicht vergeben.	31 Therefore I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit shall not be forgiven.
32 Auch dem, der etwas gegen den Menschensohn sagt, wird vergeben werden; wer aber etwas gegen den Heiligen Geist sagt, dem wird nicht vergeben, weder in dieser noch in der zukünftigen Welt.	32 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come.
33 Entweder: der Baum ist gut - dann sind auch seine Früchte gut. Oder: der Baum ist schlecht - dann sind auch seine Früchte schlecht. An den Früchten also erkennt man den Baum.	33 Either make the tree good and its fruit good: or make the tree evil, and its fruit evil. For by the fruit the tree is known.
34 Ihr Schlangenbrut, wie könnt ihr Gutes reden, wenn ihr böse seid? Denn wovon das Herz voll ist, davon spricht der Mund.	34 O generation of vipers, how can you speak good things, whereas you are evil? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 Ein guter Mensch bringt Gutes hervor, weil er Gutes in sich hat, und ein böser Mensch bringt Böses hervor, weil er Böses in sich hat.	35 A good man out of a good treasure bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of an evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 Ich sage euch: Über jedes unnütze Wort, das die Menschen reden, werden sie am Tag des Gerichts Rechenschaft ablegen müssen;	36 But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment.
37 denn aufgrund deiner Worte wirst du freigesprochen und aufgrund deiner Worte wirst du verurteilt werden.	37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
38 Zu dieser Zeit sagten einige Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer zu ihm: Meister, wir möchten von dir ein Zeichen sehen.	38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying: Master we would see a sign from thee.
39 Er antwortete ihnen: Diese böse und treulose Generation fordert ein Zeichen, aber es wird ihr kein anderes gegeben werden als das Zeichen des Propheten Jona.	39 Who answering said to them: An evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
40 Denn wie Jona drei Tage und drei Nächte im Bauch des Fisches war, so wird auch der Menschensohn drei Tage und drei Nächte im Innern der Erde sein.	40 For as Jonas was in the whale's belly three days and three nights: so shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
41 Die Männer von Ninive werden beim Gericht gegen diese Generation auftreten und sie verurteilen; denn sie haben sich nach der Predigt des Jona bekehrt. Hier aber ist einer, der mehr ist als Jona.	41 The men of Ninive shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they did penance at the preaching of Jonas. And behold a greater than Jonas here.
42 Die Königin des Südens wird beim Gericht gegen diese Generation auftreten und sie verurteilen; denn sie kam vom Ende der Erde, um die Weisheit Salomos zu hören. Hier aber ist einer, der mehr ist als Salomo.	42 The queen of the south shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold And when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none.
43 Ein unreiner Geist, der einen Menschen verlassen hat, wandert durch die Wüste und sucht einen Ort, wo er bleiben kann. Wenn er aber keinen findet,	43 dummy verses inserted by amos
44 dann sagt er: Ich will in mein Haus zurückkehren, das ich verlassen habe. Und wenn er es bei seiner Rückkehr leer antrifft, sauber und geschmückt,	44 Then he saith: I will return into my house from whence I came out. And coming he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 dann geht er und holt sieben andere Geister, die noch schlimmer sind als er selbst. Sie ziehen dort ein und lassen sich nieder. So wird es mit diesem Menschen am Ende schlimmer werden als vorher. Dieser bösen Generation wird es genauso gehen.	45 Then he goeth, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man in made worse than the first. So shall it be also to this wicked generation.
46 Als Jesus noch mit den Leuten redete, standen seine Mutter und seine Brüder vor dem Haus und wollten mit ihm sprechen.	46 As he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him.
47 Da sagte jemand zu ihm: Deine Mutter und deine Brüder stehen draußen und wollen mit dir sprechen.	47 And one said unto him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without, seeking thee.
48 Dem, der ihm das gesagt hatte, erwiderte er: Wer ist meine Mutter, und wer sind meine Brüder?	48 But he answering him that told him, said: Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?
49 Und er streckte die Hand über seine Jünger aus und sagte: Das hier sind meine Mutter und meine Brüder.	49 And stretching forth his hand towards his disciples, he said: Behold my mother and my brethren.
50 Denn wer den Willen meines himmlischen Vaters erfüllt, der ist für mich Bruder und Schwester und Mutter.	50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father, that is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.
