1 Die Familienoberhäupter der Nachkommen Gileads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, aus den Sippen der Nachkommen Josefs, kamen zu Mose und den führenden Männern, den Familienhäuptern der Israeliten, um mit ihnen zu reden.	1 Then the leaders of the families of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the stock of the sons of Joseph, approached and spoke to Moses before the leaders of Israel, and they said:
2 Sie sagten: Der Herr hat meinem Herrn aufgetragen, das Land durch das Los als Erbbesitz an die Israeliten zu verteilen. Mein Herr erhielt aber vom Herrn auch den Auftrag, den Erbbesitz unseres Bruders Zelofhad seinen Töchtern zu geben.	2 “The Lord has instructed you, our ruler, so that you would divide the land by lot to the sons of Israel, and so that you would give to the daughters of Zelophehad, our brother, the possession owed to their father.
3 Wenn diese nun einen Mann aus einem anderen israelitischen Stamm heiraten, dann geht ihr Besitz dem Erbbesitz unserer Väter verloren und wird zum Erbbesitz des Stammes, in den sie einheiraten; er geht also unserem Erbanteil verloren.	3 But if men of another tribe receive them as wives, their possession will follow them, and having been transferred to another tribe, there will be a reduction in our inheritance.
4 Sobald das Jubeljahr für die Israeliten kommt, wird ihr Erbbesitz zum Erbbesitz des Stammes, in den sie einheiraten, aber dem Erbbesitz unseres väterlichen Stammes geht ihr Erbbesitz verloren.	4 And so it may be that, when the Jubilee of remission, that is, the fiftieth year, has arrived, the distribution by lots shall be confounded, and the possession of the one shall be transferred to others.”
5 Da befahl Mose den Israeliten auf Anweisung des Herrn: Die Männer vom Stamm der Söhne Josefs haben Recht.	5 Moses answered the sons of Israel, and, at the instruction of the Lord, he said: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken correctly.
6 Das ist es, was der Herr den Töchtern Zelofhads befiehlt: Heiratet, wen ihr wollt, nur müsst ihr einen Mann aus einer Sippe eures väterlichen Stammes heiraten.	6 And so, this is the law which has been promulgated by the Lord about the daughters of Zelophehad: Let them marry whomever they may wish, but only among the men of their own tribe,
7 Der Erbbesitz darf bei den Israeliten nicht von einem Stamm auf den andern übergehen; denn jeder Israelit soll fest mit dem Erbbesitz seines väterlichen Stammes verbunden bleiben.	7 lest the possession of the sons of Israel become commingled, from tribe to tribe. For all men shall take wives from their own tribe and kinship;
8 Jede Tochter, die Anspruch auf Erbbesitz in einem israelitischen Stamm hat, muss einen Mann aus einer Sippe ihres väterlichen Stammes heiraten, damit bei den Israeliten jeder im Erbbesitz seiner Väter bleibt.	8 and all women shall take husbands from their same tribe, so that the inheritance may remain within the families,
9 Der Erbbesitz darf nicht von einem Stamm auf einen andern übergehen. Denn jeder Israelit soll fest mit dem Erbbesitz seines Stammes verbunden bleiben.	9 and so that the tribes may not be mingled together, but may remain such as they were separated by the Lord.”
10 Die Töchter Zelofhads taten, was der Herr dem Mose befohlen hatte.	10 And the daughters of Zelophehad acted according to what was ordered.
11 Machla, Tirza, Hogla, Milka und Noa, die Töchter Zelofhads, heirateten Söhne ihrer Onkel;	11 And Mahlah, and Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noa were wed to the sons of their paternal uncle,
12 sie heirateten Männer aus den Sippen der Nachkommen Manasses, des Sohnes Josefs. So blieb ihr Erbbesitz dem Stamm ihrer väterlichen Sippe erhalten.	12 from the family of Manasseh, who was a son of Joseph. And the possession which had been distributed to them remained in the tribe and family of their father.
13 Das sind die Gebote und Rechte, die der Herr den Israeliten in den Steppen von Moab, am Jordan bei Jericho, durch Mose gegeben hat.	13 These are the commandments and judgments which the Lord ordered by the hand of Moses to the sons of Israel, in the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
