EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Im ersten Monat kam die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten in die Wüste Zin und das Volk ließ sich in Kadesch nieder. Dort starb Mirjam und wurde auch dort begraben.	1 The Israelites, the whole community, arrived in the first month at the desert of Zin. The people settledat Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried.
2 Da die Gemeinde kein Wasser hatte, rotteten sie sich gegen Mose und Aaron zusammen.	2 There was no water for the community, so they banded together against Moses and Aaron.
3 Das Volk geriet mit Mose in Streit; sie sagten: Wären wir doch umgekommen wie unsere Brüder, die vor den Augen des Herrn gestorben sind.	3 The people laid the blame on Moses. 'We would rather have died', they said, 'as our brothers diedbefore Yahweh!
4 Warum habt ihr das Volk des Herrn in diese Wüste geführt? Nur damit wir hier zusammen mit unserem Vieh sterben?	4 Why have you brought Yahweh's community into this desert, for us and our livestock to die here?
5 Wozu habt ihr uns aus Ägypten hierher geführt? Nur um uns an diesen elenden Ort zu bringen, eine Gegend ohne Korn und Feigen, ohne Wein und Granatäpfel? Nicht einmal Trinkwasser gibt es.	5 Why did you lead us out of Egypt, only to bring us to this wretched place? It is a place unfit forsowing, it has no figs, no vines, no pomegranates, and there is not even water to drink!'
6 Mose und Aaron verließen die Versammlung, gingen zum Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes und warfen sich auf ihr Gesicht nieder. Da erschien ihnen die Herrlichkeit des Herrn.	6 Leaving the assembly, Moses and Aaron went to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. They threwthemselves on their faces, and the glory of Yahweh appeared to them.
7 Der Herr sprach zu Mose:	7 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
8 Nimm deinen Stab; dann versammelt die Gemeinde, du und dein Bruder Aaron, und sagt vor ihren Augen zu dem Felsen, er solle sein Wasser fließen lassen. Auf diese Weise wirst du für sie Wasser aus dem Felsen fließen lassen und ihnen und ihrem Vieh zu trinken geben.	8 'Take the branch and call the community together, you and your brother Aaron. Then, in full view ofthem, order this rock to release its water. You wil release water from the rock for them and provide drink for thecommunity and their livestock.'
9 Mose holte den Stab von seinem Platz vor dem Herrn, wie der Herr ihm befohlen hatte.	9 Moses took up the branch from before Yahweh, as he had directed him.
10 Mose und Aaron riefen die Versammlung vor dem Felsen zusammen und Mose sagte zu ihnen: Hört, ihr Meuterer, können wir euch wohl aus diesem Felsen Wasser fließen lassen?	10 Moses and Aaron then cal ed the assembly together in front of the rock. He then said to them,'Listen now, you rebels. Shall we make water gush from this rock for you?'
11 Dann hob er seine Hand hoch und schlug mit seinem Stab zweimal auf den Felsen. Da kam Wasser heraus, viel Wasser, und die Gemeinde und ihr Vieh konnten trinken.	11 Moses then raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the branch; water gushed out inabundance, and the community and their livestock drank.
12 Der Herr aber sprach zu Mose und Aaron: Weil ihr mir nicht geglaubt habt und mich vor den Augen der Israeliten nicht als den Heiligen bezeugen wolltet, darum werdet ihr dieses Volk nicht in das Land hineinführen, das ich ihm geben will.	12 Yahweh then said to Moses and Aaron, 'Because you did not believe that I could assert my holinessbefore the Israelites' eyes, you wil not lead this assembly into the country which I am giving them.'
13 Das ist das Wasser von Meriba (Streitwasser), weil die Israeliten mit dem Herrn gestritten haben und er sich als der Heilige erwiesen hat.	13 These were the Waters of Meribah, where the Israelites laid the blame on Yahweh and where, bytheir means, he asserted his holiness.
14 Mose schickte von Kadesch aus Boten zum König von Edom und ließ ihm sagen: So sagt dein Bruder Israel: Du kennst alle Mühsal, die uns getroffen hat.	14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh: 'To the king of Edom. Your brother Israel says this: You areaware of the great hardships we have encountered.
15 Unsere Väter sind nach Ägypten gezogen und wir haben viele Jahre in Ägypten gewohnt. Aber die Ägypter haben uns und unsere Väter schlecht behandelt.	15 Our ancestors went down to Egypt and there we stayed for a long time. But the Egyptians treated usbadly, as they had our ancestors.
16 Da haben wir zum Herrn geschrien und er hat uns gehört. Er schickte einen Boten und der Bote führte uns aus Ägypten heraus. Jetzt sind wir in Kadesch, einer Stadt an der Grenze deines Gebietes.	16 When we appealed to Yahweh, he heard our cry and, sending an angel, brought us out of Egypt,and here we are, now, at Kadesh, a town on the borders of your territory.
17 Wir möchten durch dein Land ziehen. Wir werden eure Felder und Weinberge nicht betreten und kein Brunnenwasser trinken. Wir werden die Königsstraße benutzen und weder rechts noch links davon abbiegen, bis wir dein Gebiet durchzogen haben.	17 We ask permission to pass through your country. We shall not go through the fields or vineyards; weshall not drink the water from the wel s; we shal keep to the king's highway without turning to right or left until wehave passed through your territory.'
18 Edom aber ließ dem Mose sagen: Du wirst bei mir nicht durchziehen, sonst ziehe ich dir mit dem Schwert entgegen.	18 To which, Edom replied, 'You wil not pass through my country; if you do, I shal oppose you by forceof arms.'
19 Da ließen ihm die Israeliten sagen: Wir wollen auf der Straße ziehen. Und wenn wir von deinem Wasser trinken, ich und meine Herden, dann zahle ich dafür. Ich will nichts anderes, nur zu Fuß durch dein Land ziehen.	19 To which the Israelites replied, 'We shal keep to the high road; if I and my flocks drink any of yourwater, I am wil ing to pay for it. Al I am asking is to pass through on foot.'
20 Aber Edom ließ wieder sagen: Du wirst nicht durchziehen. Und Edom zog mit schwer bewaffneten Kriegern Israel entgegen, zur Abwehr entschlossen.	20 Edom replied: 'You shal not pass,' and Edom opposed them in great numbers and great force.
21 Da Edom sich also weigerte, Israel durch sein Gebiet ziehen zu lassen, musste Israel einen Umweg machen.	21 At Edom's refusal to grant Israel passage through his territory, Israel turned away.
22 Die Israeliten brachen von Kadesch auf und die ganze Gemeinde kam zum Berg Hor.	22 They set out from Kadesh, and the Israelites, the whole community, came to Mount Hor.
23 Am Berg Hor, an der Grenze von Edom, sprach der Herr zu Mose und Aaron:	23 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor, on the frontier of Edom, and said,
24 Aaron wird jetzt mit seinen Vorfahren vereint; er wird nicht in das Land kommen, das ich für die Israeliten bestimmt habe; denn ihr habt euch am Wasser von Meriba gegen meinen Befehl aufgelehnt.	24 'Aaron is to be gathered to his people; he will not enter the country which I have given to theIsraelites, since you both disobeyed my order at the Waters of Meribah.
25 Nimm Aaron und seinen Sohn Eleasar und führ sie auf den Berg Hor hinauf!	25 Take Aaron and his son Eleazar and bring them up Mount Hor.
26 Dann nimm Aaron seine Gewänder ab und leg sie seinem Sohn Eleasar an! Aaron wird dort mit seinen Vätern vereint werden und sterben.	26 Then take Aaron's robes off him and dress his son Eleazar in them. Aaron wil then be gathered tohis people; that is where he will die.'
27 Mose tat, was ihm der Herr befohlen hatte. Sie stiegen vor den Augen der ganzen Gemeinde auf den Berg Hor.	27 Moses did as Yahweh ordered. With the whole community watching, they went up Mount Hor.
28 Mose nahm Aaron die Gewänder ab und legte sie seinem Sohn Eleasar an. Dann starb Aaron dort auf dem Gipfel des Berges, Mose aber und Eleasar stiegen vom Berg herab.	28 Moses took Aaron's robes off him and dressed his son Eleazar in them, and there Aaron died, onthe mountain-top. Moses and Eleazar then came back down the mountain.
29 Als die Gemeinde sah, dass Aaron dahingeschieden war, beweinte ihn das ganze Haus Israel dreißig Tage lang.	29 The whole community saw that Aaron had died, and for thirty days the whole House of Israelmourned for Aaron.
