1 Der Herr sprach zu Mose: Rede zu den Priestern, den Söhnen Aarons, und sag zu ihnen: Keiner von ihnen darf sich an der Leiche eines seiner Stammesgenossen verunreinigen,	1 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: "None of them mustmake himself unclean by touching the corpse of one of his people,
2 außer an seinen nächsten Verwandten: seiner Mutter, seinem Vater, seinem Sohn, seiner Tochter oder seinem Bruder.	2 unless it be of one of his closest relations-father, mother, son, daughter, brother,
3 An seiner unverheirateten Schwester, die seine nahe Verwandte blieb, da sie keinem Mann angehörte, darf er unrein werden.	3 or virgin sister, since she being unmarried is still his close relation: he can make himself unclean forher;
4 Nicht aber darf er an seiner Schwester, die mit einem Stammesgenossen verheiratet ist, unrein werden; er würde sich entweihen.	4 but for a close female relation who is married he wil not make himself unclean; he would profanehimself.
5 Die Priester sollen sich auf ihrem Kopf keine Glatze scheren, ihren Bart nicht stutzen und an ihrem Körper keine Einschnitte machen.	5 "They wil not make tonsures on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or gash their bodies.
6 Sie sollen ihrem Gott geheiligt sein und den Namen ihres Gottes nicht entweihen. Denn sie sind es, die die Feueropfer des Herrn, die Speise ihres Gottes, darbringen; darum sollen sie heilig sein.	6 They wil be consecrated to their God and wil not profane the name of their God. For their function isto offer the food burnt for Yahweh, the food of their God, and so they must be holy.
7 Sie dürfen weder eine Dirne, noch eine Entehrte, noch eine Frau heiraten, die ihr Mann verstoßen hat; denn der Priester ist seinem Gott geweiht.	7 "They wil not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priestis consecrated to his God.
8 Du sollst ihn heilig halten, denn er bringt die Speise deines Gottes dar. Heilig soll er dir sein, denn ich bin heilig, der Herr, der euch heiligt.	8 "You wil treat him as holy, for he offers the food of your God. For you, he wil be a holy person, for I,Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.
9 Wenn sich die Tochter eines Priesters als Dirne entweiht, so entweiht sie ihren Vater; sie soll im Feuer verbrannt werden.	9 "If a priest's daughter profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father and wil be burnt alive.
10 Der Priester, der unter seinen Brüdern den höchsten Rang einnimmt, auf dessen Haupt das Salböl ausgegossen wurde und der durch das Anlegen der heiligen Gewänder eingesetzt ist, soll sein Haar nicht lose herunterhängen lassen, seine Kleider nicht zerreißen,	10 "The priest who is pre-eminent over his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured,and who, robed in the sacred vestments, has received investiture, wil not disorder his hair or tear his clothes;
11 sich an keinem Leichnam verunreinigen, auch nicht, wenn es sich um Vater oder Mutter handelt.	11 he wil not go near any corpse or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.
12 Er soll sich nicht vom Heiligtum entfernen, um nicht das Heiligtum seines Gottes zu entweihen; denn die Weihe des Salböls seines Gottes ist auf ihm. Ich bin der Herr.	12 He wil not leave the holy place in such a way as to profane the sanctuary of his God; for he bears theconsecration of the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh.
13 Er soll nur eine Jungfrau heiraten.	13 "He will marry a woman who is stil a virgin.
14 Eine Witwe, eine Verstoßene oder eine Entehrte, eine Dirne, darf er nicht heiraten; nur eine Jungfrau aus seinem Stamm darf er zur Frau nehmen;	14 He wil not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but wilmarry a virgin from his own people:
15 sonst würde er seine Nachkommenschaft unter seinen Stammesgenossen entweihen; denn ich, der Herr, bin es, der ihn heiligt.	15 he must not make his own children profane, for I, Yahweh, have sanctified him." '
16 Der Herr sprach zu Mose:	16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
17 Sag zu Aaron: Keiner deiner Nachkommen, auch in den kommenden Generationen, der ein Gebrechen hat, darf herantreten, um die Speise seines Gottes darzubringen.	17 'Speak to Aaron and say: "None of your descendants, for al time, may come forward to offer the foodof his God if he has any infirmity,
18 Denn keiner mit einem Gebrechen darf herantreten: kein Blinder oder Lahmer, kein im Gesicht oder am Körper Entstellter,	18 for none may come forward if he has an infirmity, be he blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,
19 kein Mann, der einen gebrochenen Fuß oder eine gebrochene Hand hat,	19 or with an injured foot or arm,
20 keiner mit Buckel, Muskelschwund, Augenstar, Krätze, Flechte oder Hodenquetschung.	20 a hunchback, someone with rickets or ophthalmia or the scab or running sores, or a eunuch.
21 Keiner der Nachkommen Aarons, des Priesters, darf herantreten, um die Feueropfer des Herrn darzubringen, wenn er ein Gebrechen hat. Er hat ein Gebrechen, er darf nicht herantreten, um die Speise seines Gottes darzubringen.	21 No descendant of the priest Aaron may come forward to offer the food burnt for Yahweh if he has anyinfirmity; if he has an infirmity, he wil not come forward to offer the food of his God.
22 Doch darf er von der Speise seines Gottes, von den hochheiligen und heiligen Dingen, essen,	22 "He may eat the food of his God, things especially holy and things holy,
23 aber nicht zum Vorhang kommen und sich nicht dem Altar nähern; denn er hat ein Gebrechen und darf meine heiligen Gegenstände nicht entweihen; denn ich bin der Herr, der sie geheiligt hat.	23 but he wil not go near the curtain or approach the altar, since he has an infirmity and must notprofane my holy things; for I, Yahweh, have sanctified them." '
24 Das sagte Mose zu Aaron, zu dessen Söhnen und zu allen Israeliten.	24 And Moses promulgated this to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the Israelites.
