1 Hiram, der König von Tyrus, schickte eine Gesandtschaft zu David und ließ ihm Zedernholz überbringen; auch Maurer und Zimmerleute schickte er, die ihm einen Palast bauen sollten.	1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, also masons and carpenters to build a house for him.
2 So erkannte David, dass ihn der Herr als König von Israel bestätigt hatte; denn wegen seines Volkes Israel war Davids Königtum zu hohem Ansehen gelangt.	2 And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.
3 David nahm sich noch weitere Frauen in Jerusalem und zeugte noch Söhne und Töchter.	3 And David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters.
4 Das sind die Namen der Söhne, die ihm in Jerusalem geboren wurden: Schima, Schobab, Natan, Salomo,	4 These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 Jibhar, Elischua, Elpelet,	5 Ibhar, Elishu-a, Elpelet,
6 Nogah, Nefeg, Jafia,	6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

8 Die Philister hörten, dass David zum König von ganz Israel gesalbt worden war. Da zogen alle herauf, um David gefangen zu nehmen. David erfuhr davon und zog ihnen entgegen.	8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up in search of David; and David heard of it and went out against them.
9 Als die Philister herankamen und in der Rafaïterebene umherstreiften,	9 Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.
10 befragte David Gott: Soll ich die Philister angreifen? Wirst du sie in meine Hand geben? Der Herr antwortete ihm: Greif sie an, ich will sie in deine Hand geben.	10 And David inquired of God, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou give them into my hand?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up, and I will give them into your hand."
11 Da zog David nach Baal- Perazim. Dort schlug er die Philister und sagte: Gott hat durch meine Hand die Reihen meiner Feinde durchbrochen, wie Wasser (einen Damm) durchbricht. Deshalb nennt man jenen Ort Baal- Perazim (Herr der Durchbrüche).	11 And he went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there; and David said, "God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood." Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.
12 Die Philister ließen dort ihre Götter zurück und David befahl, sie im Feuer zu verbrennen.	12 And they left their gods there, and David gave command, and they were burned.
13 Doch die Philister streiften noch einmal im Tal der Rafaïter umher.	13 And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.
14 David befragte Gott wieder und Gott antwortete ihm: Zieh nicht hinter ihnen her, sondern umgeh sie und komm von den Baka-Bäumen her an sie heran!	14 And when David again inquired of God, God said to him, "You shall not go up after them; go around and come upon them opposite the balsam trees.
15 Wenn du dann in den Wipfeln der Baka-Bäume ein Geräusch wie von Schritten hörst, dann rück zum Kampf aus; denn Gott geht vor dir her, um das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.	15 And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to smite the army of the Philistines."
16 David tat, was Gott ihm befohlen hatte, und er schlug das Heer der Philister (im ganzen Gebiet) von Gibeon bis Geser.	16 And David did as God commanded him, and they smote the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.
17 So drang der Ruhm Davids in alle Länder und der Herr legte Furcht vor ihm auf alle Völker.	17 And the fame of David went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
