1 Zidkija hatte sich gegen den König von Babel empört. Im neunten Regierungsjahr, am zehnten Tag des zehnten Monats, rückte Nebukadnezzar, der König von Babel, mit seiner ganzen Streitmacht vor Jerusalem und belagerte es. Man errichtete ringsherum einen Belagerungswall.	1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.
2 Bis zum elften Jahr des Königs Zidkija wurde die Stadt belagert.	2 And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
3 Am neunten Tag des vierten Monats war in der Stadt die Hungersnot groß geworden, und die Bürger des Landes hatten kein Brot mehr.	3 And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
4 Damals wurden Breschen in die Stadtmauer geschlagen. Der König und alle Krieger verließen die Stadt bei Nacht auf dem Weg durch das Tor zwischen den beiden Mauern, das zum königlichen Garten hinausführt, obwohl die Chaldäer rings um die Stadt lagen. Sie schlugen die Richtung nach der Araba ein.	4 And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.
5 Aber die chaldäischen Truppen setzten dem König nach und holten ihn in den Niederungen von Jericho ein, nachdem alle seine Truppen ihn verlassen und sich zerstreut hatten.	5 And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.
6 Man ergriff den König und brachte ihn nach Ribla, zum König von Babel, und dieser sprach über ihn das Urteil.	6 So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.
7 Die Söhne Zidkijas machte man vor dessen Augen nieder. Zidkija ließ er blenden, in Fesseln legen und nach Babel bringen.	7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.
8 Am siebten Tag des fünften Monats - das ist im neunzehnten Jahr des Königs Nebukadnezzar, des Königs von Babel - rückte Nebusaradan, der Kommandant der Leibwache und Diener des Königs von Babel, in Jerusalem ein	8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:
9 und steckte das Haus des Herrn, den königlichen Palast und alle Häuser Jerusalems in Brand. Jedes große Haus ließ er in Flammen aufgehen.	9 And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
10 Auch die Umfassungsmauern Jerusalems rissen die chaldäischen Truppen, die dem Kommandanten der Leibwache unterstanden, nieder.	10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
11 Den Rest der Bevölkerung, der noch in der Stadt geblieben war, sowie alle, die zum König von Babel übergelaufen waren, und den Rest der Handwerker schleppte Nebusaradan, der Kommandant der Leibwache, in die Verbannung.	11 Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carry away.
12 Nur von den armen Leuten im Land ließ der Kommandant der Leibwache einen Teil als Wein- und Ackerbauern zurück.	12 But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.
13 Die bronzenen Säulen am Haus des Herrn, die fahrbaren Gestelle und das Eherne Meer beim Haus des Herrn zerschlugen die Chaldäer und nahmen alle Gegenstände aus Bronze mit nach Babel.	13 And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
14 Auch die Töpfe, Schaufeln, Messer und Becher sowie alle bronzenen Geräte, die man beim Tempeldienst verwendete, nahmen sie weg.	14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.
15 Ebenso nahm der Kommandant der Leibwache die Kohlenpfannen und die Schalen weg, die sämtlich aus Gold oder aus Silber waren,	15 And the firepans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.
16 ferner die zwei Säulen, das eine «Meer», die Gestelle, die Salomo für das Haus des Herrn hatte anfertigen lassen - die Bronze von all diesen Geräten war nicht zu wägen.	16 The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
17 Achtzehn Ellen betrug die Höhe der einen Säule, und oben hatte sie ein Kapitell aus Bronze. Die Höhe des einen Kapitells betrug fünf Ellen; das Kapitell umgaben Flechtwerk und Granatäpfel, alles aus Bronze. Ebenso war es bei der zweiten Säule auf dem Flechtwerk.	17 The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the chapiter upon it was brass: and the height of the chapiter three cubits; and the wreathen work, and pomegranates upon the chapiter round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with wreathen work.
18 Der Kommandant der Leibwache nahm ferner den Oberpriester Seraja, den zweiten Priester Zefanja und die drei Schwellenwächter mit.	18 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:
19 Aus der Stadt nahm er einen Hofbeamten, der Kommandant der Soldaten war, und fünf Leute vom persönlichen Dienst des Königs mit, die sich noch in der Stadt befanden, sowie den Schreiber des Heerführers, der die Bürger des Landes auszuheben hatte, schließlich sechzig Mann von der Bürgerschaft, die sich noch in der Stadt befanden.	19 And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king's presence, which were found in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:
20 Neusaradan, der Kommandant der Leibwache nahm sie fest und schickte sie zum König von Babel nach Ribla.	20 And Nebuzar-adan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah:
21 Der König von Babel ließ sie in Ribla in der Landschaft Hamat hinrichten. So wurde Juda von seiner Heimat weggeführt.	21 And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.
22 Über das Volk, das im Land Juda geblieben war und das Nebukadnezzar, der König von Babel, zurückgelassen hatte, setzte er Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams und Enkel Schafans, als Statthalter ein.	22 And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.
23 Als nun alle Truppenführer und ihre Mannschaften hörten, dass der König von Babel Gedalja als Statthalter eingesetzt habe, kamen sie zu ihm nach Mizpa. Es waren Jischmael, der Sohn Netanjas, Johanan, der Sohn Kareachs, Seraja, der Sohn Tanhumets aus Netofa, und Jaasanja, der Sohn des Maachatiters, mit ihren Leuten.	23 And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, there came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethahiah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
24 Gedalja schwor ihnen und ihren Mannschaften und sagte ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht vor den chaldäischen Beamten! Bleibt im Land und dient dem König von Babel; dann wird es euch gut gehen.	24 And Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.
25 Aber im siebten Monat kam Jischmael, der Sohn Netanjas, des Sohnes Elischamas, ein Mann aus königlichem Geschlecht, mit zehn Mann. Sie erschlugen Gedalja samt den Judäern und Chaldäern, die bei ihm in Mizpa waren.	25 But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that were with him at Mizpah.
26 Dann machte sich das ganze Volk vom Kleinsten bis zum Größten mit den Truppenführern auf und zog nach Ägypten. Sie fürchteten sich nämlich vor den Chaldäern.	26 And all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the armies, arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Chaldees.
27 Im siebenunddreißigsten Jahr nach der Wegführung Jojachins, des Königs von Juda, am siebenundzwanzigsten Tag des zwölften Monats, begnadigte Ewil-Merodach, der König von Babel, im Jahr seines Regierungsantritts Jojachin, den König von Juda, und entließ ihn aus dem Kerker.	27 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;
28 Er söhnte sich mit ihm aus und wies ihm seinen Sitz oberhalb des Sitzes der anderen Könige an, die bei ihm in Babel waren.	28 And he spake kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon;
29 Er durfte seine Gefängniskleidung ablegen und ständig bei ihm speisen, solange er lebte.	29 And changed his prison garments: and he did eat bread continually before him all the days of his life.
30 Sein Unterhalt - ein dauernder Unterhalt - wurde ihm vom König von Babel in der bestimmten Menge täglich geliefert, solange er lebte.	30 And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.
