Titus 3

1 Admonish them to be subject to princes and powers, to obey at a word, to be ready to every good work.	1 Remind them to be under the control of magistrates and authorities, to be obedient, to be open to every good enterprise.
2 To speak evil of no man, not to be litigious, but gentle: shewing all mildness towards all men.	2 They are to slander no one, to be peaceable, considerate, exercising all graciousness toward everyone.
3 For we ourselves also were some time unwise, incredulous, erring, slaves to divers desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.	3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deluded, slaves to various desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful ourselves and hating one another.
4 But when the goodness and kindness of God our Savior appeared:	4 But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared,
5 Not by the works of justice, which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us, by the laver of regeneration, and renovation of the Holy Ghost;	5 not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the holy Spirit,
6 Whom he hath poured forth upon us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior:	6 whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior,
7 That, being justified by his grace, we may be heirs, according to hope of life everlasting.	7 so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.
8 It is a faithful saying: and these things I will have thee affirm constantly: that they, who believe in God, may be careful to excel in good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.	8 This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to devote themselves to good works; these are excellent and beneficial to others.
9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law. For they are unprofitable and vain.	9 Avoid foolish arguments, genealogies, rivalries, and quarrels about the law, for they are useless and futile.
10 A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, avoid:	10 After a first and second warning, break off contact with a heretic,
11 Knowing that he, that is such an one, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by his own judgment.	11 realizing that such a person is perverted and sinful and stands self-condemned.
12 When I shall send to thee Artemas or Tychicus, make haste to come unto me to Nicopolis. For there I have determined to winter.	12 When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, try to join me at Nicopolis, where I have decided to spend the winter.
13 Send forward Zenas, the lawyer, and Apollo, with care, that nothing be wanting to them.	13 Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey soon, and see to it that they have everything they need.
14 And let our men also learn to excel in good works for necessary uses: that they be not unfruitful.	14 But let our people, too, learn to devote themselves to good works to supply urgent needs, so that they may not be unproductive.
15 All that are with me salute thee: salute them that love us in the faith. The grace of God be with you all. Amen.	15 All who are with me send you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you.
