Psalms 124

DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
To thee have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven.1 A song of ascents. Of David. I Had not the LORD been with us, let Israel say,
Behold as the eyes of the servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us.2 Had not the LORD been with us, when people rose against us,
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for we are greatly filled with contempt.3 They would have swallowed us alive, for their fury blazed against us.
For our soul is greatly filled: we are a reproach to the rich, and contempt to the proud.4 The waters would have engulfed us, the torrent overwhelmed us;
seething waters would have drowned us.
Blessed be the LORD, who did not leave us to be torn by their fangs.
We escaped with our lives like a bird from the fowler's snare; the snare was broken and we escaped.
Our help is the name of the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.
