Psalms 124

1 To thee have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven.	1 'Canto delle ascensioni. Di Davide.' Se il Signore non fosse stato con noi, - lo dica Israele -
2 Behold as the eyes of the servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us.	2 se il Signore non fosse stato con noi, quando uomini ci assalirono,
3 Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for we are greatly filled with contempt.	3 ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, nel furore della loro ira.
4 For our soul is greatly filled: we are a reproach to the rich, and contempt to the proud.	4 Le acque ci avrebbero travolti; un torrente ci avrebbe sommersi,
	5 ci avrebbero travolti acque impetuose.
	6 Sia benedetto il Signore, che non ci ha lasciati, in preda ai loro denti.
	7 Noi siamo stati liberati come un uccello dal laccio dei cacciatori: il laccio si è spezzato e noi siamo scampati.
	8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore che ha fatto cielo e terra.
