EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Del maestro de coro. Poema de David.	1 Unto the end, understanding for David,
2 Cuando el edomita Doeg vino a avisar a Saúl, diciéndole: «David ha entrado en casa de Ajimélec».	2 when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul David went to the house of Achimelech
3 ¿Por qué te jactas de tu malicia, hombre prepotente y sin piedad?	3 Why dost thou glory in malice, thou that art mighty in iniquity?
4 Estás todo el día tramando maldades, tu lengua es como navaja afilada, y no haces más que engañar.	4 All the day long thy tongue hath devised injustice: as a sharp razor, thou hast wrought deceit.
5 Prefieres el mal al bien, la mentira a la verdad;	5 Thou hast loved malice more than goodness: and iniquity rather than to speak righteousness.
6 amas las palabras hirientes, ¡lengua mentirosa!	6 Thou hast loved all the words of ruin, O deceitful tongue.
7 Por eso Dios te derribará, te destruirá para siempre, te arrojará de tu carpa, te arrancará de la tierra de los vivientes.	7 Therefore will God destroy thee for ever: he will pluck thee out, and remove thee from thy dwelling place: and thy root out of the land of the living.
8 Al ver esto, los justos sentirán temor y se reirán de él, diciendo:	8 The just shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say:
9 «Este es el hombre que no puso su refugio en Dios, sino que confió en sus muchas riquezas y se envalentonó por su maldad».	9 Behold the man that made not God his helper: But trusted in the abundance of his riches: and prevailed in his vanity.
10 Yo, en cambio, como un olivo frondoso en la Casa de Dios, he puesto para siempre mi confianza en la misericordia de Dios.	10 But I, as a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, have hoped in the mercy of God for ever, yea for ever and ever.
11 Te daré gracias eternamente por lo que has hecho, y proclamaré la bondad de tu Nombre delante de tus fieles.	11 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.
