1 Avec la Loi on n’a jamais que l’ombre des biens nouveaux: elle n’a pas la vraie figure des choses. C’est pourquoi elle ne peut jamais mener à la perfection définitive, au moyen de leurs sacrifices, ceux qui reviennent chaque année les offrir.	1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 Sinon, ils seraient purifiés dès la première fois grâce à leur culte; ils n’auraient plus de péchés sur la conscience et ils auraient cessé de les offrir.	2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 Mais non, chaque année ces sacrifices rappellent leurs péchés;	3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 c’est que le sang des taureaux et des boucs n’enlève pas le péché.	4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Alors lui, il entre dans le monde et il dit: Tu n’as voulu ni offrande ni sacrifice, mais tu m’as donné un corps.	5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 Ni les holocaustes, ni les sacrifices pour le péché ne te plaisaient.	6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Alors j’ai dit: Voici que je viens, ô Dieu, car on parlait de moi dans un chapitre du livre, je viens faire ta volonté.	7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 D’abord il dit: Tu n’as voulu ni offrande, ni sacrifices, ni holocaustes ou sacrifices pour le péché; ils ne te plaisaient pas. - Et pourtant la Loi demandait ces offrandes.	8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Alors il continue: Maintenant je viens pour faire ta volonté. Voilà donc qu’il supprime le premier ordre de choses pour établir le second,	9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 et cette volonté dont il parle, c’est que nous soyons sanctifiés par l’offrande unique du corps de Jésus Christ.	10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 Les prêtres sont debout tout le jour pour le service liturgique, et ils offrent constamment les mêmes sacrifices qui n’arrivent pas à enlever le péché.	11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 Lui, au contraire, après avoir offert un unique sacrifice pour les péchés, il siège pour toujours à la droite de Dieu	12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 attendant seulement que Dieu mette ses ennemis sous ses pieds.	13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 Son unique offrande établit dans un état de perfection définitive ceux qu’il sanctifie.	14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 L’Esprit Saint nous l’affirme. Il est dit:	15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 Voici l’alliance que je ferai avec eux après ces jours-ci - parole du Seigneur. Je mettrai mes lois dans leur cœur et je les graverai sur leur conscience.	16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 Et il ajoute: Je ne me souviendrai plus de leurs péchés ni de leurs fautes.	17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Les voilà donc pardonnés, il n’y aura plus d’offrande pour le péché.	18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Donc, frères, nous sommes sûrs d’entrer dans le Sanctuaire grâce au sang de Jésus.	19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 Il nous a ouvert ce nouveau chemin qui traverse le rideau, un chemin vivant à travers sa chair.	20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 Nous avons un prêtre exceptionnel au service de la Maison de Dieu.	21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Approchons-nous donc avec sincérité, avec une foi entière, le cœur purifié de ce qui souillait notre conscience, et le corps baigné dans l’eau qui purifie.	22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Restons inébranlables dans notre espérance, car celui qui a promis est fidèle,	23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 et tâchons de nous surpasser les uns les autres dans l’amour et les bonnes œuvres.	24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Ne manquons pas nos assemblées, comme certains en ont l’habitude; aidons-nous à tenir, d’autant plus que vous voyez déjà s’approcher le jour.	25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 Si nous péchons volontairement après avoir reçu toute la connaissance de la vérité, il n’y a plus de sacrifice pour le péché,	26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 mais seulement l’attente redoutable du jugement et du feu tout prêt à dévorer les rebelles.	27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 Celui qui viole la loi de Moïse est mis à mort sans pitié sur la parole de deux ou trois témoins.	28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Le châtiment sera bien pire, ne croyez-vous pas, pour celui qui foule aux pieds le Fils de Dieu, qui profane le sang de la nouvelle alliance par lequel il a été sanctifié, et se moque de l’Esprit Saint qu’on lui avait donné par pure bonté.	29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 Nous savons qui a dit: À moi la vengeance, c’est moi qui rendrai à chacun son dû, et encore: Le Seigneur jugera son peuple.	30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 Quelle chose terrible que de tomber entre les mains du Dieu vivant!	31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 Rappelez-vous les premiers jours. Peu après l’illumination vous avez eu à supporter un rude et douloureux combat.	32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
33 On vous a donnés en spectacle, on vous a insultés et maltraités, ou bien vous avez eu à vous montrer solidaires de ceux qu’on persécutait ainsi.	33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
34 Vous avez souffert avec les prisonniers et vous avez accepté avec joie la saisie de vos biens, sachant qu’une richesse meilleure et durable vous était réservée.	34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
35 Ce n’est donc pas le moment de renoncer à cette fermeté qui vous prépare une grande récompense.	35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 Il vous faut persévérer, faisant la volonté de Dieu, si vous voulez recevoir ce qui vous est promis.	36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 Oui, encore un peu, bien peu, et celui qui vient sera là, il ne tardera pas.	37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Mon juste à moi vivra par la foi; mais s’il se retire, il cessera de me plaire.	38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 Nous ne sommes pas de ceux qui se retirent et vont à leur perte, nous sommes des hommes de foi et nous sauverons notre âme.	39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
