| 1 الذي كان من البدء الذي سمعناه الذي رأيناه بعيوننا الذي شاهدناه ولمسته ايدينا من جهة كلمة الحياة. | 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life-- |
| 2 فان الحياة أظهرت وقد رأينا ونشهد ونخبركم بالحياة الابدية التي كانت عند الآب وأظهرت لنا. | 2 the life was made manifest, and we saw it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us-- |
| 3 الذي رأيناه وسمعناه نخبركم به لكي يكون لكم ايضا شركة معنا. واما شركتنا نحن فهي مع الآب ومع ابنه يسوع المسيح. | 3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. |
| 4 ونكتب اليكم هذا لكي يكون فرحكم كاملا | 4 And we are writing this that our joy may be complete. |
| 5 وهذا هو الخبر الذي سمعناه منه ونخبركم به ان الله نور وليس فيه ظلمة البتة. | 5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. |
| 6 ان قلنا ان لنا شركة معه وسلكنا في الظلمة نكذب ولسنا نعمل الحق | 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; |
| 7 ولكن ان سلكنا في النور كما هو في النور فلنا شركة بعضنا مع بعض ودم يسوع المسيح ابنه يطهرنا من كل خطية. | 7 but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. |
| 8 ان قلنا انه ليس لنا خطية نضل انفسنا وليس الحق فينا. | 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. |
| 9 ان اعترفنا بخطايانا فهو امين وعادل حتى يغفر لنا خطايانا ويطهرنا من كل اثم. | 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
| 10 ان قلنا اننا لم نخطئ نجعله كاذبا وكلمته ليست فينا | 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. |
