| 1 E a sè chiamati li suoi duodeci discepoli, a loro dette potestà de' spiriti immondi, che loro li scacciassero, e sanassero ogni dolore e ogni infirmità. | 1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. |

| 3 Filippo e Bartolomeo; Iacobo di Zebedeo e Ioanne suo fratello; Tomaso e Matteo pubblicano; e Iacobo di Alfeo, e Taddeo; | 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; |
| 4 Simon Cananeo, e Iuda Iscariote, il qual traditte lui. | 4 Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. |
| 5 Questi duodeci mandò Iesù, comandandoli, dicendo non anderete dietro alla via delle genti, e non entrerete nelle cittadi de' Samaritani. | 5 These twelve Jesus sent out, charging them, "Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, |
| 6 Ma più presto andate alle pecore d' Israel, le quali sono perite. | 6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. |
| 7 E andando predicate, dicendo: imperò che s'è appressato il regno de' cieli. | 7 And preach as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' |
| 8 Sanate li infermi, suscitate li morti, mondate li leprosi, scacciate li demonii; avete ricevuto senza prezzo, e voi donate senza prezzo. | 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying, give without pay. |
| 9 Non vogliate possedere auro, [nè argento], nè pecunia nelle vostre vestimenta. | 9 Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts, |
| 10 Non scarsella nella via, nè etiam averete due vestimenta, nè calzamenti, nè bacchette; imperò che il mercenario egli è degno di avere il suo cibo. | 10 no bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the laborer deserves his food. |
| 11 E quando entrerete in qualunque città ovver castello, domandate cui in quella è degno di voi; e quivi dimorate, insino che usciate. | 11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it, and stay with him until you depart. |
| 12 Ed entranti nella casa, salutatela dicendo: sia la pace in questa casa. | 12 As you enter the house, salute it. |
| 13 E certo se la casa sarà degna, sopra lei verrà la pace vostra; ma se non sarà degna', a voi ritornerà la pace vostra. | 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. |
| 14 E ogni uomo che non vi riceverà, e non udirà li vostri parlari, uscirete fuori della casa, ovver della città, e conquassarete la polvere dalli vostri piedi. | 14 And if any one will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town. |
| 15 In verità io vi dico, che nel giorno del giudicio sarà da esser più tollerabile il vizio di Sodoma e Gomorra, che di quella città. | 15 Truly, I say to you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town. |
| 16 Ed ecco che io vi mando, sì come (si mandano le) pecore in mezzo di lupi; siate (savii e) prudenti come serpenti, e semplici come colombe. | 16 "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. |
| 17 Ma guardatevi dagli uomini; imperò che egli vi metteranno ne' loro consilii e nelle loro sinagoghe, e flagelleraunovi. | 17 Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues, |
| 18 E metterannovi dinanzi alli re e principi (e dottori e rettori) per cagione mia, in testimonianza a loro e alle genti. | 18 and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles. |
| 19 E pigliandovi, non vogliate pensare come e che parliate; imperò che in quella ora vi sarà detto (lo spirito che vi insegnerà) quello che debbiate rispondere. | 19 When they deliver you up, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour; |
| 20 Imperò che non siete voi quelli che parlate; ma è il Spirito del Padre vostro, che parlerà in voi. | 20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. |
| 21 E l' uno fratello darà in morte l' altro, e il padre il figliuolo; e leverannosi li figliuoli contra alli padri e alle madri loro, e nella morte affligerangli. | 21 Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death; |
| 22 E sarete in odio a tutti (gli uomini) per lo nome mio: ma colui che persevererà insino alla fine, sarà salvo. | 22 and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. |
| 23 Ma quando vi perseguiteranno in questa città, fuggite nell' altra. In verità vi dico: non consumerete le città d' Israel, insino che venga il figliuolo dell' uomo. | 23 When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes. |
| 24 Non è discepolo sopra il maestro, nè servo sopra il messere suo. | 24 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master; |
| 25 Basta al discepolo, ch' egli sia come è il maestro, e il servo essere come il suo messere. Se loro hanno chiamato il padre della famiglia Belzebù, quanto maggiormente chiameranno li suoi domestici (famigliari)? | 25 it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Be-elzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. |
| 26 Adunque non li temerete; perchè nulla cosa è così occulta, che non si riveli; nè sì nascosa, che non si sappia. | 26 "So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. |
| 27 Quello che io dico a voi nelle tenebre, ditelo nella luce; e quello che con l'orecchie udite, narratelo sopra li tetti. | 27 What I tell you in the dark, utter in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops. |
| 28 E non vogliate temere coloro che uccidono li corpi, imperò che l' anima non possono uccidere; ma temete colui che puote l'anima e il corpo in perdizione mettere nel fuoco eterno. | 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. |
| 29 Or non si danno due passere al denaro; e niuna di coloro cade sopra la terra senza volontà del padre vostro ( ch' è in cielo)? | 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's will. |
| 30 E tutti li vostri capelli sono annumerati. | 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. |
| 31 Imperò non vogliate temere; imperò che voi siete meglio che le passere. | 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. |
| 32 E ogni uomo che mi confessarà dinanzi agli uomini, io confessarò lui dinanzi al Padre mio il quale è in cielo. | 32 So every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; |
| 33 Ma chi mi negarà in presenza delli uomini, io il negarò dinanzi al Padre mio il quale è in cielo. | 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. |
| 34 Non vogliate pensare ch' io sia venuto a mettere pace in terra; io non venni a mettere pace, ma coltello. | 34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. |
| 35 Anzi venni a dividere il figliuolo dal padre, e la figliuola dalla madre, e la nora dalla suocera. | 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; |
| 36 Imperò che li inimici dell' uomo sono li domestici suoi. | 36 and a man's foes will be those of his own household. |
| 37 Colui che ama il padre o la madre più di me, non è degno di me; e chi ama il figliuolo ovver la figliuola più che me, non è degno di me. | 37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; |
| 38 E chi non piglia la croce e sèguita me, non è degno di me. | 38 and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. |
| 39 Chi ama l'anima sua, perderà quella; e chi perderà l'anima sua per me, la troverà. | 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it. |
| 40 Chi riceve voi, riceve me; e chi riceve me, riceve colui che mi ha mandato. | 40 "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me. |
| 41 Chi riceve il profeta nel nome del profeta, riceve la mercede del profeta; e chi riceve il giusto nel nome del giusto, riceve la mercede del giusto. | 41 He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. |
| 42 E qualunque darà bevere a uno di questi miei minimi uno calice d'acqua fredda per il nome del discepolo, in verità vi dico: non perderà la · mercede sua. | 42 And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward." |
