| 1 E io dissi: udite, principi (figliuoli) di Iacob, e voi duchi della casa d' Israel: or non s' appartiene a voi di sapere lo giudicio, | 1 And I said: Hear, you heads of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel! Is it not for you to know justice?-- |
| 2 (voi) che avete in odio lo bene, e amate lo male; li quali togliete per forza le loro pelli sopra loro, e la loro carne di sopra le loro ossa? | 2 you who hate the good and love the evil, who tear the skin from off my people, and their flesh from off their bones; |
| 3 I quali manicarono la carne del popolo mio, e la loro pelle scorticarono; e le loro ossa spezzarono, e tagliarono, come si mette la carne in una pentola. | 3 who eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones in pieces, and chop them up like meat in a kettle, like flesh in a caldron. |
| 4 Allora grideranno al Signore, ed elli non li esaudirà; e nasconderà la sua faccia da loro in quello tempo, sì come loro si portarono malvagiamente nelli loro trovamenti. | 4 Then they will cry to the LORD, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have made their deeds evil. |
| 5 Questo dice lo Signore sopra li profeti i quali seducono (a mal fare) lo popolo mio; i quali mordono con loro denti, e prèdicano la pace; e se alcuno non averà dato nella loro bocca alcuna cosa, loro santificano (cioè giùdicano) sopra lui battaglia. | 5 Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who lead my people astray, who cry "Peace" when they have something to eat, but declare war against him who puts nothing into their mouths. |
| 6 E però la notte vi sarà data per la luce, e le tenebre saranno a voi per indovinamento; e lo sole si porrà a giacere sopra li profeti, e lo die intenebrerà sopra loro. | 6 Therefore it shall be night to you, without vision, and darkness to you, without divination. The sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be black over them; |
| 7 E saranno confusi quelli che veggiono le visioni, e li indovini saranno confusi; e copriranno li loro volti tutti, per che non hanno risposta da Dio. | 7 the seers shall be disgraced, and the diviners put to shame; they shall all cover their lips, for there is no answer from God. |
| 8 Ma non pertanto io sono ripieno della forza dello spirito di Dio, di giudicio e di virtude, acciò ch' io annunzii a Iacob la sua fellonia, e a Israel lo suo peccato. | 8 But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin. |
| 9 Udite questo, principi della casa di Iacob, e voi giudici della casa d' Israel; i quali abominate lo giudicio, e rivolgete tutte le cose diritte; | 9 Hear this, you heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice and pervert all equity, |
| 10 i quali edificate Sion nelli sangui, e Ierusalem nella iniquitade. | 10 who build Zion with blood and Jerusalem with wrong. |
| 11 Li suoi principi giudicavano per li doni, e li suoi sacerdoti ammaestravano per prezzo, e li suoi profeti indovinavano per (prezzo di) pecunia; e riposavansi sopra lo Signore, e dicevano: or non verrà lo Signore nel mezzo di noi? non verranno sopra noi li mali. | 11 Its heads give judgment for a bribe, its priests teach for hire, its prophets divine for money; yet they lean upon the LORD and say, "Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No evil shall come upon us." |
| 12 E perciò, per vostra cagione, Sion sarà arata come uno campo di terra, e Ierusalem sarà come uno monte di pietre, e lo monte del tempio nelle altezze delle selve. | 12 Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the house a wooded height. |
