| 1 O figliuoli d' Israel, udite la parola (di Dio), la quale Iddio hae parlato sopra voi, e sopra ogni nazione ch' io menai della terra d' Egitto, dicendo: | 1 Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt: |
| 2 Io hoe conosciuto voi solamente, di tutte le nazioni della terra; e però io visiterò sopra voi tutte le vostre malvagitadi. | 2 "You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. |
| 3 Or andaranno due insieme pari, se non si converrà loro? | 3 "Do two walk together, unless they have made an appointment? |
| 4 Or ruggirà lo leone nel salto, (cioè in una selva, la quale è termine e confine di molte contrade), s' egli non averà avuta la preda? Or metterà fuori lo figliuolo piccolo dello leone la sua voce del suo covacciolo, se non averà preso alcuna cosa? | 4 Does a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out from his den, if he has taken nothing? |
| 5 Or cadrà l'uccello nello laccio della terra sauza uccellatore? Or leverassi lo laccio della terra, se non averà preso alcuna cosa? | 5 Does a bird fall in a snare on the earth, when there is no trap for it? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when it has taken nothing? |
| 6 Se alcuno suonerà la tromba nella città, il popolo non averà paura? se lo male sarà nella cittade, (che) Iddio non l'avrà fatto? | 6 Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does evil befall a city, unless the LORD has done it? |
| 7 Però che lo Signore Iddio non farà parola, s' egli non averà rivelato lo suo secreto a' suoi servi profeti. | 7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. |
| 8 Lo lione ruggirà; e chi non temerà? Lo Signore Iddio ha parlato; e chi non profeterà? | 8 The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken; who can but prophesy?" |
| 9 Fatelo udire nelle case d' Azoto, e nelle case della terra d'Egitto, e dite: radunatevi sopra li monti di Samaria (e guardate), e vedete le (false) brutture molte nel mezzo di lui, e quelli che patiscono calunnia nello intrinseco loro. | 9 Proclaim to the strongholds in Assyria, and to the strongholds in the land of Egypt, and say, "Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and see the great tumults within her, and the oppressions in her midst." |
| 10 E non seppono fare diritto giudicio, dice lo Signore Iddio radunando pecunia, e facendo rapina. (e malvagitadi) nelli loro tempii. | 10 "They do not know how to do right," says the LORD, "those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds." |
| 11 Però questo dice lo Signore Iddio: la terra sarà tribulata e attorniata; e la tua fortezza sarà (tirata o) tratta da te, e le tue case saranno rubate. | 11 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "An adversary shall surround the land, and bring down your defenses from you, and your strongholds shall be plundered." |
| 12 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio: così come lo pastore (tolga e) tragga, di bocca dello lione, della bestia tolta le gambe, ovvero pure la estremitade dell' orecchia; così saranno tirati li figliuoli d' Israel, li quali àbitano in Samaria, nella parte dello letto, e nello letticciuolo di Damasco. | 12 Thus says the LORD: "As the shepherd rescues from the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the people of Israel who dwell in Samaria be rescued, with the corner of a couch and part of a bed." |
| 13 Udite e protestate nella casa di Iacob, dice lo Signore Iddio delli esèrciti. | 13 "Hear, and testify against the house of Jacob," says the Lord GOD, the God of hosts, |
| 14 Però che nel dì ch' io averò cominciato a visitare le prevaricazioni d' Israel, io visiterò sopra lui, e sopra li altari di Betel; e le corna dell' altare. saranno tagliate, e cadranno in terra. | 14 "that on the day I punish Israel for his transgressions, I will punish the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altar shall be cut off and fall to the ground. |
| 15 E percoterò la casa del verno colla casa della estate; e periranno le case dell' avolio, e molte altre case saranno disfatte, dice lo Signore. (Iddio d' Israel). | 15 I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall come to an end," says the LORD. |
