Біблія	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Якже Ісус скінчив усі ці слова, сказав до своїх учнів:	1 Jesus had now finished al he wanted to say, and he told his disciples,
2 «Ви знаєте, що через два дні буде Пасха й Син Чоловічий буде виданий на розп’яття.»	2 'It wil be Passover, as you know, in two days' time, and the Son of man wil be handed over to becrucified.'
3 Тоді зібралися первосвященики і старші народу в палаці первосвященика, що звався Каяфа,	3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whosename was Caiaphas,
4 і радились, як би то підступом схопити Ісуса й убити.	4 and made plans to arrest Jesus by some trick and have him put to death.
	5 They said, however, 'It must not be during the festivities; there must be no disturbance among thepeople.'
6 І от коли Ісус був у Витанії в домі Симона прокаженого,	6 Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon, a man who had suffered from a virulent skin-disease,when
7 підійшла до нього одна жінка з алябастровою плящиною, повною вельми дорогого мира, і вилляла його йому на голову, як він сидів при столі.	7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and poured it on his head ashe was at table.
8 Побачивши це учні, нарікали й казали: «Навіщо таке марнотратство?	8 When they saw this, the disciples said indignantly, 'Why this waste?
9 Це можна б було дорого продати й — дати бідним!»	9 This could have been sold for a high price and the money given the poor.'
10 Ісус зауважив це й сказав їм: «Чому ви докучаєте цій жінці? Вона зробила добре діло для мене.	10 But Jesus noticed this and said, 'Why are you upsetting the woman? What she has done for me isindeed a good work!
11 Завжди бо бідних маєте з собою; мене ж не завжди маєте.	11 You have the poor with you always, but you wil not always have me.
12 Виливши це миро на моє тіло, вона вчинила те на похорон мій.	12 When she poured this ointment on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.
13 Істинно кажу вам: Де тільки буде проповідуватись ця Євангелія по всьому світі, оповідатиметься і про те, що вона зробила, їй на спомин.»	13 In truth I tel you, wherever in al the world this gospel is proclaimed, what she has done will be toldas well, in remembrance of her.'
14 Тоді один із дванадцятьох, що звався Юда Іскаріотський, подався до первосвящеників	14 Then one of the Twelve, the man cal ed Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 і каже: «Що хочете мені дати, і я вам його видам?» Ті відважили йому тридцять срібняків.	15 and said, 'What are you prepared to give me if I hand him over to you?' They paid him thirty silverpieces,
16 І з того часу він шукав доброї нагоди, щоб його видати.	16 and from then onwards he began to look for an opportunity to betray him.
17 Першого дня Опрісноків приступили учні до Ісуса й питають: «Де хочеш, щоб ми приготовили тобі їсти Пасху?»	17 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus to say, 'Where do you want usto make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?'
18 Він відповів їм: «Ідіть до такого ось одного в місто й скажіть йому: Учитель каже: Час мій близько, тож у тебе споряджу Пасху з учнями моїми.»	18 He said, 'Go to a certain man in the city and say to him, "The Master says: My time is near. It is atyour house that I am keeping Passover with my disciples." '
19 Учні зробили так, як їм звелів Ісус, і приготовили Пасху.	19 The disciples did what Jesus told them and prepared the Passover.
20 Коли ж настав вечір, сів він до столу з дванадцятьма учнями,	20 When evening came he was at table with the Twelve.
21 і коли вони їли, він промовив: «Істинно, кажу вам: Один з вас мене зрадить.»	21 And while they were eating he said, 'In truth I tell you, one of you is about to betray me.'
22 Засмучені глибоко, почали кожний з них запитувати його: «Чи то часом не я, Господи?»	22 They were greatly distressed and started asking him in turn, 'Not me, Lord, surely?'
23 Він відповів: «Хто вклав зо мною руку в миску, той мене зрадить.	23 He answered, 'Someone who has dipped his hand into the dish with me wil betray me.
24 Син Чоловічий іде, як написано про нього, та горе тому чоловікові, що зрадить Сина Чоловічого! Ліпше було б тому чоловікові не народитись!»	24 The Son of man is going to his fate, as the scriptures say he will, but alas for that man by whom theSon of man is betrayed! Better for that man if he had never been born!'
25 А Юда, зрадник його, і собі озвався: «Чи то часом не я, Учителю?» Каже Ісус до нього: «Ти мовив.»	25 Judas, who was to betray him, asked in his turn, 'Not me, Rabbi, surely?' Jesus answered, 'It is youwho say it.'
26 Якже вони їли, Ісус узяв хліб, поблагословив, розламав і дав учням, кажучи: «Беріть, їжте: це моє тіло.»	26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gaveit to the disciples. 'Take it and eat,' he said, 'this is my body.'
27 Потім узяв чашу, воздав хвалу і подав їм, кажучи: «Пийте з неї всі,	27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he handed it to them saying, 'Drink from this, allof you,
28 бо це кров моя (Нового) Завіту, яка за багатьох проливається на відпущення гріхів.	28 for this is my blood, the blood of the covenant, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 Кажу вам: Не питиму віднині з цього виноградного плоду аж до дня того, як питиму його новим з вами в Царстві Отця мого.»	29 From now on, I tel you, I shal never again drink wine until the day I drink the new wine with you inthe kingdom of my Father.'
30 І відспівавши, вийшли вони на Оливну гору.	30 After the psalms had been sung they left for the Mount of Olives.
31 Тоді Ісус сказав їм: «Усі ви зневіритесь у мені цієї ночі. Написано бо: Ударю пастиря, і розбіжаться вівці стада.	31 Then Jesus said to them, 'You wil al fall away from me tonight, for the scripture says: I shal strikethe shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered,
32 А після мого воскресіння я випереджу вас у Галилеї.»	32 but after my resurrection I shal go ahead of you to Galilee.'
33 Озвався тоді Петро й каже йому: «Навіть якби всі зневірились у тобі, я не зневірюся ніколи.»	33 At this, Peter said to him, 'Even if al fal away from you, I wil never fal away.'
34 Ісус же мовив до нього: «Істинно кажу тобі: Цієї ще ночі, перше, ніж заспіває півень, ти тричі мене відречешся.»	34 Jesus answered him, 'In truth I tel you, this very night, before the cock crows, you will have disownedme three times.'
35 Каже йому Петро: «Навіть якби я мав з тобою вмерти, не відречуся тебе!» Так само мовили всі учні.	35 Peter said to him, 'Even if I have to die with you, I wil never disown you.' And al the disciples saidthe same.
36 Тоді Ісус приходить з ними на місце, зване Гетсиманія, і каже до учнів: «Посидьте тут, поки піду та помолюся там.»	36 Then Jesus came with them to a plot of land called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples, 'Stayhere while I go over there to pray.'
37 І взяв Петра з собою і двох синів Заведея, і почав скорбіти та тужити.	37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him. And he began to feel sadness and anguish.
38 Тоді сказав їм: «Смуток у мене на душі — аж до смерти! Зостаньтеся тут і чувайте зо мною.»	38 Then he said to them, 'My soul is sorrowful to the point of death. Wait here and stay awake with me.'
39 І пройшовши трохи далі, упав обличчям додолу, молившися і промовляючи: «Отче мій, якщо можливо, нехай мине ця чаша мене. Однак не як я бажаю, лише — як ти.»	39 And going on a little further he fel on his face and prayed. 'My Father,' he said, 'if it is possible, letthis cup pass me by. Nevertheless, let it be as you, not I, would have it.'
40 Повернувся він до учнів і, знайшовши їх заснулими, каже до Петра: «Отож і однієї години не спромоглися чувати зо мною?	40 He came back to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, 'So you had not thestrength to stay awake with me for one hour?
41 Чувайте й моліться, щоб не ввійшли у спокусу, бо дух бадьорий, але тіло немічне.»	41 Stay awake, and pray not to be put to the test. The spirit is willing enough, but human nature isweak.'
42 Знову, вдруге, відійшов він і почав молитися: «Отче мій, коли ця чаша не може минути, щоб я її не пив, хай буде твоя воля!»	42 Again, a second time, he went away and prayed: 'My Father,' he said, 'if this cup cannot pass by, butI must drink it, your wil be done!'
43 І, повернувшися, знову знайшов, що вони спали, бо очі в них були отяжілі.	43 And he came back again and found them sleeping, their eyes were so heavy.
44 Залишив він їх, пішов знову й почав молитись утретє, повторюючи ті самі слова.	44 Leaving them there, he went away again and prayed for the third time, repeating the same words.
45 Потім повернувся до учнів і каже до них: «Спіть собі й відпочивайте; наблизилась уже година, і Син Чоловічий буде виданий грішникам у руки.	45 Then he came back to the disciples and said to them, 'You can sleep on now and have your rest.Look, the hour has come when the Son of man is to be betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Уставайте, ходімо! Ось наблизився мій зрадник.»	46 Get up! Let us go! Look, my betrayer is not far away.'
47 Він говорив ще, як надійшов Юда, один з дванадцятьох, а з ним і сила народу з мечами та дрючками — від первосвящеників та старших народу.	47 And suddenly while he was stil speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared, and with him a largenumber of men armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Зрадник його дав їм знак, мовивши: «Кого я поцілую, це він, беріть його.»	48 Now the traitor had arranged a sign with them saying, 'The one I kiss, he is the man. Arrest him.'
49 І відразу ж підійшов він до Ісуса й каже: «Радуйся, мій Учителю!» — та й поцілував його.	49 So he went up to Jesus at once and said, 'Greetings, Rabbi,' and kissed him.
50 Тоді питає його Ісус: «Чого прийшов єси, друже?!» — І зараз ті приступили, наклали на Ісуса руки і схопили його.	50 Jesus said to him, 'My friend, do what you are here for.' Then they came forward, seized Jesus andarrested him.
51 Аж тут один із тих, що були з Ісусом, простягнув руку, вихопив свого меча й, ударивши. слугу первосвященика, відтяв йому вухо.	51 And suddenly, one of the fol owers of Jesus grasped his sword and drew it; he struck the high priest'sservant and cut off his ear.
52 Тоді Ісус сказав до нього: «Вклади твій меч назад до піхви: всі бо, що за меч беруться, від меча загинуть.	52 Jesus then said, 'Put your sword back, for al who draw the sword wil die by the sword.
53 Чи гадаєш, що я не міг би попросити Отця мого, і він зараз же не дав би мені більш як дванадцять легіонів ангелів?	53 Or do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, who would promptly send more than twelvelegions of angels to my defence?
54 Як же то збулися б Писання, що воно так мусить статися?»	54 But then, how would the scriptures be fulfil ed that say this is the way it must be?'
	55 It was at this time that Jesus said to the crowds, 'Am I a bandit, that you had to set out to capture mewith swords and clubs? I sat teaching in the Temple day after day and you never laid a hand on me.'
56 Та все це сталося, щоб збулися Писання пророків.» Тоді всі учні залишили його й повтікали.	56 Now al this happened to fulfil the prophecies in scripture. Then al the disciples deserted him and ranaway.
57 Ті, що схопили Ісуса, повели його до первосвященика Каяфи, де зібралися книжники та старші.	57 The men who had arrested Jesus led him off to the house of Caiaphas the high priest, where thescribes and the elders were assembled.
58 Петро ж ішов слідом за ним оподалік, аж до палацу первосвященика й, увійшовши до середини, сів із слугами, щоб побачити, чим воно скінчиться.	58 Peter followed him at a distance right to the high priest's palace, and he went in and sat down withthe attendants to see what the end would be.
59 Первосвященики та ввесь синедріон шукали ложного свідоцтва на Ісуса, щоб його вбити,	59 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus, however false,on which they might have him executed.
60 і не знайшли, дарма, що було з’явилось багато ложних свідків. Нарешті прийшло двоє	60 But they could not find any, though several lying witnesses came forward. Eventually two cameforward
61 і кажуть: «Цей сказав: Я можу зруйнувати храм Божий і за три дні його відбудувати.»	61 and made a statement, 'This man said, "I have power to destroy the Temple of God and in three daysbuild it up." '
62 Тут підвівся первосвященик і сказав до нього: «Нічого не заперечуєш, що вони на тебе свідчать?»	62 The high priest then rose and said to him, 'Have you no answer to that? What is this evidence thesemen are bringing against you?'
63 Але Ісус мовчав. Первосвященик каже до нього: «Заклинаю тебе живим Богом, щоб ти сказав нам, чи ти Христос, син Божий.»	63 But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, 'I put you on oath by the living God to tel us ifyou are the Christ, the Son of God.'
64 Тоді Ісус сказав до нього: «Ти мовив. Тільки ж кажу вам: Віднині ви побачите Чоловічого Сина, який сидітиме праворуч Всемогутнього й ітиме на небесних хмарах.»	64 Jesus answered him, 'It is you who say it. But, I tel you that from this time onward you wil see theSon of man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.'
65 Тоді первосвященик роздер свою одежу і заявляє: «Він сказав богохульство! Нащо нам ще свідків? Оце ж ви щойно чули богохульство!	65 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, 'He has blasphemed. What need of witnesses have wenow? There! You have just heard the blasphemy.
66 Як вам здається?» Ті відповіли; «Він — винен смерти.»	66 What is your opinion?' They answered, 'He deserves to die.'
67 Тоді вони почали плювати йому в обличчя та бити кулаками; інші ж били його в обличчя	67 Then they spat in his face and hit him with their fists; others said as they struck him,
68 і промовляли: «Проречи нам, Христе, хто тебе вдарив?»	68 'Prophesy to us, Christ! Who hit you then?'
69 Петро ж сидів надворі. Аж тут одна служниця підійшла до нього й каже: «І ти був з Ісусом Галилеєм.»	69 Meanwhile Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant-girl came up to him saying, 'You,too, were with Jesus the Galilean.'
70 Але той перед усіма відрікся і заявив: «Не знаю, що таке говориш.»	70 But he denied it in front of them al . 'I do not know what you are talking about,' he said.
71 Коли ж: він вийшов до воріт, уздріла його інша й каже до тих, що там були: «Цей був з Ісусом з Назарету.»	71 When he went out to the gateway another servant-girl saw him and said to the people there, 'Thisman was with Jesus the Nazarene.'
72 Він знову, клявшися, відрікся: «Не знаю я цього чоловіка.»	72 And again, with an oath, he denied it, 'I do not know the man.'
73 Десь трохи згодом приступили ті, що там стояли, і заговорили до Петра: «Ти таки справді один з них, бо й твоя вимова тебе виявляє.»	73 A little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, 'You are certainly one of them too! Why, youraccent gives you away.'
74 Тоді Петро почав клястися та божитися: «Не знаю я цього чоловіка.» І враз заспівав півень.	74 Then he started cursing and swearing, 'I do not know the man.' And at once the cock crowed,
75 І Петро згадав те слово, що Ісус сказав був: «Раніше, ніж півень заспіває, ти тричі зречешся мене.» І вийшовши звідтіль, заплакав гірко.	75 and Peter remembered what Jesus had said, 'Before the cock crows you wil have disowned methree times.' And he went outside and wept bitterly.
