1 Господь промовив до Мойсея:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 «Повели синам Ізраїля, щоб видалили геть із табору кожного прокаженого і кожного течивого, і кожного, хто став нечистий від мерця.	2 'Order the Israelites to expel from the camp al those suffering from a contagious skin-disease or froma discharge, or who have become unclean by touching a corpse.
3 Так чоловіка, як і жінку видалите геть із табору, щоб не оскверняли табір, серед якого я витаю.»	3 Whether man or woman, you will expel them; you wil expel them from the camp, so that they do notpollute their encampments, in the heart of which I dwel .'
4 Так і зробили сини Ізраїля і видалили їх геть із табору. Як повелів Господь Мойсеєві, так і зробили сини Ізраїля.	4 The Israelites did so: they expel ed them from the camp. The Israelites did as Yahweh had told Moses.
5 Господь промовив до Мойсея:	5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
6 «Скажи синам Ізраїля: коли який-небудь чоловік або жінка вчинить якийсь гріх на шкоду ближньому, спроневірившися Господеві, і відчуватиме провину,	6 'Speak to the Israelites: "If a man or woman commits any of the sins by which people break faith withYahweh, that person incurs guilt.
7 то нехай визнає свій гріх, що ним згрішив, і відшкодує повнотою та ще й наддасть п’ятину тому, кого пошкодив.	7 "The person must confess the sin committed and restore in ful the amount owed, with one-fifth added.Payment is to be made to the person wronged.
8 А коли в того нема ніякого родича, щоб повернути йому шкоду, то відшкодування буде Господеві, для священика, опріч покутного барана, що ним за винного відправиться покута.	8 "If, however, the latter has no relation to whom restitution can be made, the restitution due to Yahwehreverts to the priest, apart from the ram of expiation with which the priest makes expiation for the guilty party.
9 Усяка жертва возношення, з усяких святих речей синів Ізраїля, що принесуть священикові, йому належатиме.	9 For of everything the Israelites consecrate and bring to the priest he has a right to the portion setaside.
10 Святі речі належатимуть тому, хто їх приносить; що ж хтось дає священикові, його буде.»	10 Whatever anyone consecrates is his own; whatever is given to the priest belongs to the priest." '
11 Господь промовив до Мойсея:	11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
12 «Скажи синам Ізраїля і повідай їм: Коли чиясь жінка зійде на манівці й спроневіриться йому,	12 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If anyone has a wife who goes astray and is unfaithful to him,
13 і хтось інший зляжеться з нею так, що чоловік про те не знає, бо вона осквернилась потайки і нема свідків проти неї, саму ж її не впіймано на вчинку,	13 if some other man sleeps with the woman without the husband's knowledge, and she secretly makesherself unclean, without any witness against her, and without anyone catching her in the act;
14 і як охопить його дух ревнощів і заходиться він ревнувати свою жінку, чи то справді осквернилась вона, а чи ні,	14 if, then, a spirit of suspicion comes over the husband and makes him suspicious of the wife who hasdisgraced herself, or again if this spirit of suspicion comes over him and makes him suspicious of his wife evenwhen she is innocent,
15 то той чоловік приведе свою жінку до священика й принесе ради неї дар, десятину ефи ячмінної муки; він не литиме олії на неї і не кластиме до неї ладану, бо це офіра за ревнощі, офіра на спомин, що нагадує провину.	15 the man wil bring his wife before the priest, and on her behalf make an offering of one-tenth of anephah of barley meal. He will not pour oil over it or put incense on it, because this is a cereal offering for a caseof suspicion, a memorial offering to recal guilt to mind.
16 Нехай священик звелить їй приступити і поставить її перед Господом.	16 "The priest will then bring the woman forward and place her before Yahweh.
17 Потім візьме святої води у глиняну посудину, візьме й пороху, що на долівці у храмині, та й вкине його у воду.	17 The priest wil then take fresh water in an earthen jar, and on the water throw dust that he has takenfrom the floor of the Dwel ing.
18 Отже поставить жінку перед Господом і, відкривши їй голову, покладе їй на руки поминальну офіру, тобто офіру за ревнування; а сам триматиме в руці гірку воду, що наводить прокляття.	18 After he has placed the woman before Yahweh, he will unbind her hair and put the commemorativecereal offering (that is, the cereal offering for a case of suspicion) into her hands. In his own hands the priest wilhold the water of bitterness and cursing.
19 І заклинатиме жінку священик і казатиме їй: Якщо не лежав ніхто з тобою, і якщо ти, бувши за твоїм чоловіком, не зійшла на манівці нечистотою, то будь непошкоджена від цієї гіркої води, що наводить прокляття.	19 "The priest will then put the woman on oath. He will say to her: If it is not true that a man has sleptwith you, that you have gone astray and made yourself unclean while under your husband's authority, may thiswater of bitterness and cursing do you no harm.
20 Якщо ж ти, бувши за твоїм чоловіком, зійшла на манівці й осквернила себе, і лежав хтось із тобою, окрім твого чоловіка,	20 But if it is true that you have gone astray while under your husband's authority, that you have madeyourself unclean and that a man other than your husband has slept with you . . .
21 то тут заклене священик жінку клятьбою прокляття і скаже до неї: Нехай Господь видасть тебе на прокляття й злорічення серед твого народу і допустить, щоб зів’яло твоє лоно і опух живіт твій.	21 Here the priest wil impose an imprecatory oath on the woman. He wil say to her: . . . May Yahwehmake you the object of your people's execration and curses, by making your sexual organs shrivel and your bel yswel !
22 Нехай оця вода, що стягає прокляття, увійде в твою утробу, щоб твій живіт опух і щоб лоно твоє зів’яло. — А жінка відповість: Амінь, амінь.	22 May this water of cursing entering your bowels, make your belly swell and your sexual organs shrivel!To which the woman will reply: Amen! Amen!
23 І запише священик ті прокляття на аркуші та й змиє їх гіркою водою,	23 "Having written these curses on a scrol and washed them off in the water of bitterness,
24 і подасть жінці напитися гіркої води, що наводить прокляття, щоб вона ввійшла в неї для гіркости.	24 the priest wil make the woman drink the water of bitterness and cursing; when the water of cursingenters into her, it wil become bitter.
25 Потім священик візьме з руки жінки офіру за ревнування і поколихає нею перед Господом, і принесе її до жертовника,	25 "The priest will then take the cereal offering for a case of suspicion from the woman's hands, and holdit up before Yahweh with a gesture of offering, and so carry it up to the altar.
26 і візьме жменю з офіри як кадило та й пустить димом на жертовнику, а потім дасть жінці напитися води.	26 He will take a handful of it as a memorial and burn it on the altar. "After this, he wil make the woman drink the water.
27 А як дасть їй води напитись, то, коли вона осквернила себе і спроневірилася своєму чоловікові, то станеться, що вода прокляття увійде в неї у всій своїй гіркоті, і опухне живіт у неї, і зів’яне лоно в неї, і стане вона проклята серед своїх людей.	27 After he has made her drink it, if it is true that she has made herself unclean and been unfaithful toher husband, the water of cursing then entering into her wil indeed be bitter: her bel y wil swel and her sexualorgans shrivel, and she wil be an object of execration to her people.
28 А коли жінка не осквернила себе, коли вона чиста, то не зазнає ніякої шкоди і матиме потомство.	28 But if she has not made herself unclean, but is clean, then she will go unscathed and wil bearchildren.
29 Це закон про ревнування: чи то коли жінка, бувши за чоловіком, зійде на манівці й осквернить себе,	29 "Such is the ritual in cases of suspicion, when a woman has gone astray and made herself uncleanwhile under her husband's authority,
30 чи то коли чоловіка охопить дух ревнощів, і він заходиться ревнувати свою жінку; він поставить її перед Господом, а священик виконає над нею увесь закон цей.	30 or when a spirit of suspicion has come over a man and made him suspicious of his wife. When ahusband brings such a woman before Yahweh, the priest will apply this ritual to her in full.
31 Так проститься чоловікові його провина, а жінка понесе кару за гріх свій.»	31 The husband wil be guiltless, but the woman wil bear the consequences of her guilt." '
