2 « Fino a quando getterete via le parole? Mettete giudizio e poi parleremo. | 2 How long will you throw out words? understand first, and so let us speak. |
3 Perchè trattarci come giumenti e considerarci come immondezze? | 3 Why are we reputed as beasts, and counted vile before you? |
4 O tu, che rovini l'anima tua nel tuo furore, dovrà per causa tua esser abbandonata la terra e dal loro posto trasportate le rupi? | 4 Thou that destroyest thy soul in thy fury, shall the earth be forsaken for thee, and shall rocks be removed out of their place? |
5 Non è forse vero che la luce dell'empio deve spegnersi, che la fiamma del suo focolare non farà lume? | 5 Shall not the light of the wicked be extinguished, and the flame of his fire not shine? |
6 Si oscurerà il lume nella sua tenda e la lucerna che sta sopra di lui sarà spenta. | 6 The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him, shall be put out. |
7 I passi della sua potenza saranno raccorciati, i suoi disegni lo getteranno in un precipizio. | 7 The step of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down headlong. |
8 Va a mettere i suoi piedi in una rete e cammina sulle sue maglie; | 8 For he hath thrust his feet into a net, and walketh in its meshes. |
9 il suo piede sarà preso al laccio. Una sete ardente lo consumerà. | 9 The sole of his foot shall be held in a snare, and thirst shall burn against him. |
10 Il laccio gli sta steso per terra e la trappola sul sentiero. | 10 A gin is hidden for him in the earth, and his trap upon the path. |
11 Da ogni parte lo atterriranno gli spaventi, gli avvilupperanno i piedi. | 11 Fears shall terrify him on every side, and shall entangle his feet. |
12 Venga meno dalla fame la sua forza e l'inedia gli stia alle costole. | 12 Let his strength be wasted with famine, and let hunger invade his ribs. |
13 Divori la bellezza della sua pelle, consumi le sue braccia la morte primogenita. | 13 Let it devour the beauty of his skin, let the firstborn death consume his arms. |
14 Sia strappato dalla sua tenda, in cui era sicuro, e lo calpesti come un re la morte. | 14 Let his confidence be rooted out of his tabernacle, and let destruction tread upon him like a king. |
15 Scomparso lui, ne occupino la tenda i suoi compagni, e nella sua dimora sia sparso lo zolfo, | 15 Let the companions of him that is not, dwell in his tabernacle, let brimstone be sprinkled in his tent. |
16 di sotto gli secchino le radici, di sopra gli sian tagliati i rami. | 16 Let his roots be dried up beneath, and his harvest destroyed above. |
17 Sparisca dalla terra la sua memoria, il suo nome non sia rammentato sulle piazze. | 17 Let the memory of him perish from the earth and let not his name be renowned in the streets. |
18 Sia cacciato dalla luce nelle tenebre, portato via dal mondo, | 18 He shall drive him out of light into darkness, and shall remove him out of the world. |
19 non avrà nè discendenza nè famiglia nel suo popolo, nè superstite nella sua patria. | 19 His seed shall not subsist, nor his offspring among his people, nor any remnants in his country. |
20 Pel suo giorno stupiranno gli ultimi, e i primi saranno invasi dal terrore. | 20 They that come after him shall be astonished at his day, and horror shall fall upon them that went before. |
21 Così va a finire la casa dell'empio, tale è la sorte di chi ignora Dio ». | 21 These men are the tabernacles of the wicked, and this the place of him that knoweth not God. |
