1 Tirou-se a sorte também para a tribo de Manassés, porque era o primogênito de José. Maquir, primogênito de Manassés e pai de Galaad, que foi um homem guerreiro. tinha recebido Galaad e Basã.	1 Now as for the lot that fell to the tribe of Manasseh as the first-born of Joseph: since his eldest son, Machir, the father of Gilead, was a warrior, who had already obtained Gilead and Bashan,
2 Houve também uma parte para os outros filhos de Manassés, segundo suas famílias: para os filhos de Abiezer, os filhos de Sequem, os de Hefer e os de Semida. Estes são os filhos varões de Manassés, filho de José, segundo suas famílias.	2 the allotment was now made to the other descendants of Manasseh, the clans of Abiezer, Helek, Asriel, Shechem, Hepher and Shemida, the other male children of Manasseh, son of Joseph.
3 Salfaad, filho de Hefer, filho de Galaad, filho de Maquir, filho de Manassés, não teve filhos, mas somente filhas, cujos nomes são: Maala, Noa, Hegla, Melca e Tersa.	3 Furthermore, Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, had had no sons, but only daughters, whose names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
4 Elas foram ter com o sacerdote Eleazar, com Josué, filho de Nun, e com os príncipes: O Senhor, disseram elas, ordenou a Moisés que nos desse uma parte entre nossos irmãos. E foi-lhes dada uma herança entre os irmãos de seu pai, segundo a ordem do Senhor.	4 These presented themselves to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua, son of Nun, and to the princes, saying, "The LORD commanded Moses to give us a heritage among our kinsmen." So in obedience to the command of the LORD a heritage was given to each of them among their father's kinsmen.
5 Tocaram a Manassés dez partes, além da terra de Galaad e de Basã, situada além do Jordão,	5 Thus ten shares fell to Manasseh apart from the land of Gilead and Bashan beyond the Jordan,
6 porque as filhas de Manassés receberam uma herança entre os filhos da mesma tribo, sendo que a terra de Galaad foi para os outros filhos de Manassés.	6 since these female descendants of Manasseh received each a portion among his sons. The land of Gilead fell to the rest of the Manassehites.
7 A fronteira de Manassés partia de Asser e ia até Macmetat, defronte de Siquém, e depois seguia pela direita, na direção dos habitantes de En-Tafua.	7 Manasseh bordered on Asher. From Michmethath near Shechem, another boundary ran southward to include the natives of En-Tappuah,
8 A terra de Tafua tinha caído por sorte a Manassés, mas Tafua, junto à fronteira de Manassés, pertencia aos efraimitas.	8 because the district of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh, although Tappuah itself was an Ephraimite city on the border of Manasseh.
9 A fronteira descia à torrente de Caná, para o meio-dia da torrente; as cidades dessa região, que pertenciam a Efraim, encontravam-se no meio das cidades de Manassés. A fronteira de Manassés passava pelo norte da torrente e terminava no mar.	9 This same boundary continued down to the Wadi Kanah. The cities that belonged to Ephraim from among the cities in Manasseh were those to the south of that wadi; thus the territory of Manasseh ran north of the wadi and ended at the sea.
10 Assim a parte meridional pertencia a Efraim, a parte setentrional a Manassés, servindo o mar de fronteira. Limitavam ao norte com a tribo de Aser, e ao nascente com a tribo de Issacar.	10 The land on the south belonged to Ephraim and that on the north to Manasseh; with the sea as their common boundary, they reached Asher on the north and Issachar on the east.
11 Nos territórios de Issacar e de Aser, obteve Manassés Betsã e seus arrabaldes, Jeblaã e seus arrabaldes, os habitantes de Dor e seus arrabaldes, os habitantes de Endor e seus arrabaldes, os habitantes de Tenac e seus arrabaldes, os habitantes de Magedo e seus arrabaldes: são as três colinas.	11 Moreover, in Issachar and in Asher Manasseh was awarded Beth-shean and its towns, Ibleam and its towns, Dor and its towns and the natives there, Endor and its towns and natives, Taanach and its towns and natives, and Megiddo and its towns and natives (the third is Naphath-dor).
12 Os filhos de Manassés não puderam tomar posse dessas cidades, pois os cananeus estavam resolvidos a permanecer nelas.	12 Since the Manassehites could not conquer these cities, the Canaanites persisted in this region.
13 Quando se tornaram mais fortes, submeteram os cananeus a um tributo, mas não os expulsaram.	13 When the Israelites grew stronger they impressed the Canaanites as laborers, but they did not drive them out.
14 Os filhos de José disseram a Josué: Por que nos deste a posse de uma só herança, de uma só parte, sendo nós um povo tão numeroso e tendo-nos o Senhor abençoado até aqui?	14 The descendants of Joseph said to Joshua, "Why have you given us only one lot and one share as our heritage? Our people are too many, because of the extent to which the LORD has blessed us."
15 Josué disse-lhes: Se sois tão numerosos, subi à floresta, desbravai-a e tomai uma parte da terra dos ferezeus e dos refains, já que a montanha de Efraim é pequena demais para vós.	15 Joshua answered them, "If you are too many, go up to the forest and clear out a place for yourselves there in the land of the Perizzites and Rephaim, since the mountain regions of Ephraim are so narrow."
16 Os filhos de José, porém, responderam: A montanha não nos basta; e todos os cananeus que habitam na planície possuem carros de ferro, tanto os de Betsã e seus arrabaldes como os que estão no vale de Jesrael.	16 For the Josephites said, "Our mountain regions are not enough for us; on the other hand, the Canaanites living in the valley region all have iron chariots, in particular those in Beth-shean and its towns, and those in the valley of Jezreel."
17 Então Josué disse à casa de José, a Efraim e a Manassés: Tu és um povo numeroso e forte; não terás só uma parte,	17 Joshua therefore said to Ephraim and Manasseh, the house of Joseph, "You are a numerous people and very strong. You shall have not merely one share,
18 mas terás a montanha, cuja floresta tu desbravarás e os seus arredores serão teus. Expulsarás os cananeus, apesar de seus carros de ferro e de seu poder.	18 for the mountain region which is now forest shall be yours when you clear it. Its adjacent land shall also be yours if, despite their strength and iron chariots, you drive out the Canaanites."
