Epístola aos Efésios 1

1 Paulo, apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, pela vontade de Deus, aos cristãos de Éfeso e aos que crêem em Jesus Cristo.	1 Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, to all the saints who are at Ephesus and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
2 A vós, graça e paz da parte de Deus, nosso Pai, e da parte do Senhor Jesus Cristo!	2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Bendito seja Deus, Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que do alto do céu nos abençoou com toda a bênção espiritual em Cristo,	3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, in Christ,
4 e nos escolheu nele antes da criação do mundo, para sermos santos e irrepreensíveis, diante de seus olhos.	4 just as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and immaculate in his sight, in charity.
5 No seu amor nos predestinou para sermos adotados como filhos seus por Jesus Cristo, segundo o beneplácito de sua livre vontade,	5 He has predestined us to adoption as sons, through Jesus Christ, in himself, according to the purpose of his will,
6 para fazer resplandecer a sua maravilhosa graça, que nos foi concedida por ele no Bem-amado.	6 for the praise of the glory of his grace, with which he has gifted us in his beloved Son.
7 Nesse Filho, pelo seu sangue, temos a Redenção, a remissão dos pecados, segundo as riquezas da sua graça	7 In him, we have redemption through his blood: the remission of sins in accord with the riches of his grace,
8 que derramou profusamente sobre nós, em torrentes de sabedoria e de prudência.	8 which is superabundant in us, with all wisdom and prudence.
9 Ele nos manifestou o misterioso desígnio de sua vontade, que em sua benevolência formara desde sempre,	9 So does he make known to us the mystery of his will, which he has set forth in Christ, in a manner well-pleasing to him,
10 para realizá-lo na plenitude dos tempos - desígnio de reunir em Cristo todas as coisas, as que estão nos céus e as que estão na terra.	10 in the dispensation of the fullness of time, so as to renew in Christ everything that exists through him in heaven and on earth.
11 Nele é que fomos escolhidos, predestinados segundo o desígnio daquele que tudo realiza por um ato deliberado de sua vontade,	11 In him, we too are called to our portion, having been predestined in accord with the plan of the One who accomplishes all things by the counsel of his will.
12 para servirmos à celebração de sua glória, nós que desde o começo voltamos nossas esperanças para Cristo.	12 So may we be, to the praise of his glory, we who have hoped beforehand in Christ.
13 Nele também vós, depois de terdes ouvido a palavra da verdade, o Evangelho de vossa salvação no qual tendes crido, fostes selados com o Espírito Santo que fora prometido,	13 In him, you also, after you heard and believed the Word of truth, which is the Gospel of your salvation, were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the Promise.
14 que é o penhor da nossa herança, enquanto esperamos a completa redenção daqueles que Deus adquiriu para o louvor da sua glória.	14 He is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the acquisition of redemption, to the praise of his glory.
15 Por isso também eu, tendo ouvido falar da vossa fé no Senhor Jesus, e do amor para com todos os cristãos,	15 Because of this, and hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus, and of your love toward all the saints,
16 não cesso de dar graças a Deus por vós, lembrando-me de vós nas minhas orações.	16 I have not ceased giving thanks for you, calling you to mind in my prayers,
17 Rogo ao Deus de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, o Pai da glória, vos dê um espírito de sabedoria que vos revele o conhecimento dele;	17 so that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give a spirit of wisdom and of revelation to you, in knowledge of him.
18 que ilumine os olhos do vosso coração, para que compreendais a que esperança fostes chamados, quão rica e gloriosa é a herança que ele reserva aos santos,	18 May the eyes of your heart be illuminated, so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and the wealth of the glory of his inheritance with the saints,
19 e qual a suprema grandeza de seu poder para conosco, que abraçamos a fé. É o mesmo poder extraordinário que	19 and the preeminent magnitude of his virtue toward us, toward we who believe in accord with the work of his powerful virtue,
20 ele manifestou na pessoa de Cristo, ressuscitando-o dos mortos e fazendo-o sentar à sua direita no céu,	20 which he wrought in Christ, raising him from the dead and establishing him at his right hand in the heavens,
21 acima de todo principado, potestade, virtude, dominação e de todo nome que possa haver neste mundo como no futuro.	21 above every principality and power and virtue and dominion, and above every name that is given, not only in this age, but even in the future age.
22 E sujeitou a seus pés todas as coisas, e o constituiu chefe supremo da Igreja,	22 And he has subjected all things under his feet, and he has made him the head over the entire Church,
23 que é o seu corpo, o receptáculo daquele que enche todas as coisas sob todos os aspectos.	23 which is his body and which is the fullness of him who accomplishes everything in everyone.
