Livro dos Provérbios 9

SAGRADA BIBLIA	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 A Sabedoria edificou sua casa, talhou sete colunas.	1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2 Matou seus animais, preparou seu vinho e dispôs a mesa.	2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 Enviou servas, para que anunciassem nos pontos mais elevados da cidade:	3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 Quem for simples apresente-se! Aos insensatos ela disse:	4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5 Vinde comer o meu pão e beber o vinho que preparei.	5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Deixai a insensatez e vivereis; andai direito no caminho da inteligência!	6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7 Quem censura um mofador, atrai sobre si a zombaria; o que repreende o ímpio, arrisca-se a uma afronta.	7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 Não repreendas o mofador, pois ele te odiará. Repreende o sábio e ele te amará.	8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Dá ao sábio: tornar-se-á ele mais sábio ainda, ensina ao justo e seu saber aumentará.	9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 O temor do Senhor é o princípio da Sabedoria, e o conhecimento do Santo é a inteligência,	10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11 porque por mim se multiplicarão teus dias e ser-te-ão acrescentados anos de vida.	11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 Se tu és sábio, é para teu bem que o és, mas se tu és um mofador, só tu sofrerás as conseqüências.	12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13 A senhora Loucura é irrequieta, uma tola que não sabe nada.	13 A foolish woman is clamourous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 Ela se assenta à porta de sua casa, numa cadeira, nos pontos mais altos da cidade,	14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 para convidar os viandantes que seguem direito seu caminho.	15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16 Quem for simples venha para cá! Aos insensatos, ela diz:	16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
17 As águas furtivas são mais doces e o pão tomado às escondidas é mais delicioso.	17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
18 Ignora ele que ali há sombras e que os convidados {da senhora Loucura} jazem nas profundezas da região dos mortos.	18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
