Proverbi 11

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Una bilancia falsa è un obbrobrio per il Signore, un peso esatto invece è il suo diletto.	1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.
2 Dove c'è orgoglio c'è anche il disonore, con gli umili invece c'è la saggezza.	2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.
3 La loro integrità conduce i giusti, ma la perversità rovina i perfidi.	3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.
4 Non giova la ricchezza nel giorno della collera, invece la giustizia libera dalla morte.	4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.
5 La giustizia spiana la via all'uomo integro, ma l'empio cade nella sua empietà.	5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.
6 La propria giustizia salva gli uomini retti, ma nella loro brama son presi i perfidi.	6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.
7 Con la morte dell'empio finisce la sua speranza, l'attesa dei perversi è annientata.	7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.
8 Il giusto è liberato dall'angoscia, l'empio invece vi cade al suo posto.	8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.
9 Con la sua bocca l'empio manda in rovina il prossimo, ma con la scienza i giusti si districano.	9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.
10 Per il benessere dei giusti la città gioisce, ma per la rovina degli empi manda grida di giubilo.	10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.
11 Per la benedizione degli uomini retti una città prospera, ma per la bocca degli empi va in rovina.	11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.
12 Chi disprezza il prossimo è povero di senno, l'uomo intelligente invece sa tacere.	12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.
13 Chi va gironzolando svela i suoi segreti, ma la persona fidata cela quanto sa.	13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.
14 Senza governo un popolo decade, il benessere dipende dai molti consiglieri.	14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.
15 Di certo ne è responsabile chi garantisce un forestiero, chi rifiuta garanzie invece è al sicuro.	15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.
16 Una donna benefica si acquista fama, uomini energici acquistano ricchezza.	16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.
17 Arricchisce se stesso l'uomo benevolo, tortura invece il proprio corpo l'uomo crudele.	17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.
18 L'empio si affanna per un salario insicuro, ma per chi semina la giustizia la ricompensa è certa.	18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.
19 Chi consolida la giustizia è destinato alla vita, ma chi persegue il male è destinato alla morte.	19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.
20 Sono abominio del Signore i tortuosi di mente, ma son sua delizia quelli di vita integra.	20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.
21 Sicuramente il cattivo non resterà impunito, la stirpe dei giusti invece sarà salva.	21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.
22 Anello d'oro al muso di un maiale una donna bella, ma senza cervello.	22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.
23 Desiderio dei giusti è solo il bene, ma la speranza degli empi è la rovina.	23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.
24 Uno largheggia e arricchisce ancora, uno risparmia oltre misura e solo impoverisce.	24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.
25 L'anima benefica sempre si arricchisce e chi innaffia viene innaffiato.	25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.
26 Chi accaparra frumento lo maledice il popolo, ma la benedizione è sopra chi lo vende.	26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.
27 Chi è sollecito nel bene trova compiacenza, ma chi cerca il male, il male lo raggiunge.	27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.
28 Chi confida nella sua ricchezza, costui rovina, ma come germoglio i giusti sbocceranno.	28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.
29 Chi mette scompiglio in casa propria, il vento è la sua sorte e lo stolto divien servo del saggio di mente.	29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.
30 Il frutto del giusto è l'albero di vita, un conquistator di anime è il saggio.	30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.
31 Se il giusto è ricompensato sulla terra, tanto più lo è l'empio e il peccatore.	31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
