1 Now the Apostles and brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the Word of God.	1 E queste novelle incontinente furono sparte e nunziate agli apostoli, e agli altri cristiani che erano in Iudea (e in Galilea).
2 Then, when Peter had gone up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision argued against him,	2 Ritornato Pietro poi in Ierusalem, incominciorono a mormorare contra a lui li giudei convertiti.
3 saying, “Why did you enter to uncircumcised men, and why did you eat with them?”	3 E dissonli: or come andasti a stare con uomini (pagani e) non circoncisi, e mangiasti con loro?
4 And Peter began to explain to them, in an orderly manner, saying:	4 Allora Pietro incominciò per ordine a rendere loro ragione (per sua scusa e per sua chiarezza), e disse loro
5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and I saw, in an ecstasy of mind, a vision: a certain container descending, like a great linen sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners. And it drew near to me.	5 la visione, che avea veduta in Ioppe, orando (in sul mezzodì in casa di Simone coriario), essendo rapito in eccesso di mente, cioè del lenzuolo,
6 And looking into it, I considered and saw the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the reptiles, and the flying things of the air.	6 che vide pieno d'animali e di serpenti e d' uccelli;
7 Then I also heard a voice saying to me: ‘Rise up, Peter. Kill and eat.’	7 e (ciò che li fu detto e ciò ch' elli rispose secondo che di sopra è detto) che udì una voce che gli disse: stà su, e uccidi e mangia (di queste cose).
8 But I said: ‘Never, lord! For what is common or unclean has never entered into my mouth.’	8 Alla qual voce rispose e disse: Messere, Iddio me ne cessi, chè io mai non mangiai alcuna cosa comune e immonda.
9 Then the voice responded a second time from heaven, ‘What God has cleansed, you shall not call common.’	9 Allora la voce gli rispose, e disse: quello che Iddio hae purificato, non dir tu che sia immondo.
10 Now this was done three times. And then everything was taken up again into heaven.	10 E così vide e udi tre volte; e poi incontanente lo predetto lenzuolo e vaso con gli predetti animali fu ricolto in cielo.
11 And behold, immediately there were three men standing near the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.	11 E come poi gli uomini vennero per lui da parte di Cornelio.
12 Then the Spirit told me that I should go with them, doubting nothing. And these six brothers went with me also. And we entered into the house of the man.	12 E come il Spirito Santo gli comandò ch' egli andasse con loro, e non dubitasse.
13 And he described for us how he had seen an Angel in his house, standing and saying to him: ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter.	13 E così narrò per ordine come andò, e ciò che Cornelio li disse della visione che avea avuta e dell' ammonimento di mandare per lui;
14 And he shall speak to you words, by which you shall be saved with your whole house.’	14 il quale gli dirà quello che abbia a fare per essere salvo;
15 And when I had begun to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as upon us also, in the beginning.	15 e come, parlando elli, venne sopra di loro il Spirito Santo, secondo ch' egli udito avevano.
16 Then I remembered the words of the Lord, just as he himself said: ‘John, indeed, baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’	16 E allora disse: io mi arricordai di quelio detto di Cristo, quando disse: Giovanni battezzò in acqua, ma voi sarete battezzati di Spirito Santo.
17 Therefore, if God gave them the same grace, as also to us, who have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I would be able to prohibit God?”	17 (E poi conchiuse Pietro e disse:) se adunque Iddio ha vogliuto dare a loro quella medesima grazia che a noi, chi era (o chi son) io, che la dovessi proibire?
18 Having heard these things, they were silent. And they glorified God, saying: “So has God also given to the Gentiles repentance unto life.”	18 Le quali parole quelli udendo, tacettero; e glorificarono Dio, dicendo che avea dato la sua grazia a' pagani, e chiamatili a penitenza.
19 And some of them, having been dispersed by the persecution that had occurred under Stephen, traveled around, even to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the Word to no one, except to Jews only.	19 E quelli ch' erano dispersi dopo la tribulazione (e dopo il martirio) di Stefano andarono insino a Fenice e in Cipro e in Antiochia, non parlando e non predicando se non a' giudei.
20 But some of these men from Cyprus and Cyrene, when they had entered into Antioch, were speaking also to the Greeks, announcing the Lord Jesus.	20 Ma alquanti di loro ch' erano (nati) alcuni di Cipro, alcuni di Cirene, venendo in Antiochia, parlavano [anche] a quelli di Grecia, e predicavano loro la fede di Cristo.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them. And a great number believed and were converted to the Lord.	21 E la mano (cioè la virtù) di Dio era con loro, sì [che] molti se ne convertirono a Cristo.
22 Now the news came to the ears of the Church at Jerusalem about these things, and they sent Barnabas as far as Antioch.	22 La quale cosa udendo i cristiani ch' erano rimasi in Ierusalem, mandaronvi Barnaba insino ad Antiochia.
23 And when he had arrived there and had seen the grace of God, he was gladdened. And he exhorted them all to continue in the Lord with a resolute heart.	23 Il quale pervenendovi, e vedendovi (moltiplicati li fedeli per) la divina grazia, allegravasi molto; e confortolli tutti di perseverare di cuore nella fede.
24 For he was a good man, and he was filled with the Holy Spirit and with faith. And a great multitude was added to the Lord.	24 Però ch' era buono uomo, pieno di Spirito Santo e di fede; onde (per il suo predicare non solamente si confermavano quelli ch' erano convertiti, ma) eziandio molti altri se ne convertivano.
25 Then Barnabas set out for Tarsus, so that he might seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch.	25 E poi (quindi si partì e) andò in Tarso per trovare Saulo; il quale trovando, andorono insieme in Antiochia.
26 And they were conversing there in the Church for an entire year. And they taught such a great multitude, that it was at Antioch that the disciples were first known by the name of Christian.	26 E quivi stettero per spazio d'uno anno, ammaestrando la turba; e (tanti ne convertirono che) quivi in prima li discepoli si cominciarono a chiamare (pubblicamente) Cristiani.
27 Now in these days, prophets from Jerusalem went over to Antioch.	27 E in quelli di sopravennero di Ierusalem certi profeti (cristiani).
28 And one of them, named Agabus, rising up, signified through the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine over the entire world, which did happen under Claudius.	28 Fra' quali v'era uno chiamato Agabo, il quale (pubblicamente diceva e) prenunziava che grande fame e carestia doveva tosto sopravenire in tutto il mondo; e così (poi tosto) venne al tempo di Claudio (imperatore).
29 Then the disciples declared, according to what each one possessed, what they would offer to be sent to the brothers living in Judea.	29 Allora li discepoli (cristiani), secondo che ciascuno poteva, procurarono di mandare alcuna elimosina alli cristiani che abitavano in Iudea.
30 And so they did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.	30 E così facendo (tra loro certa côlta), mandorono loro (certa) elemosina per mano di Saulo e di Barnaba.
