1 Now the Apostles and brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the Word of God.	1 Les apôtres et les frères qui étaient en Judée apprirent que des non-Juifs avaient accueilli la parole de Dieu.
2 Then, when Peter had gone up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision argued against him,	2 Quand Pierre monta à Jérusalem, des Juifs devenus croyants lui firent des reproches:
3 saying, “Why did you enter to uncircumcised men, and why did you eat with them?”	3 "Tu es entré chez des gens qui ne sont pas circoncis et tu as mangé avec eux!”
4 And Peter began to explain to them, in an orderly manner, saying:	4 Et Pierre commença à leur exposer les faits dans l’ordre:
5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and I saw, in an ecstasy of mind, a vision: a certain container descending, like a great linen sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners. And it drew near to me.	5 "J’étais en prière dans la ville de Joppé quand j’ai eu une extase. Quelque chose descendait du ciel, c’était comme une tente très vaste qui reposait sur ses quatre coins, et elle arrivait du ciel jusqu’à moi.
6 And looking into it, I considered and saw the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the reptiles, and the flying things of the air.	6 Comme je la regardais et cherchais à comprendre, j’y ai vu des animaux sauvages, des bêtes féroces, des reptiles et des oiseaux.
7 Then I also heard a voice saying to me: ‘Rise up, Peter. Kill and eat.’	7 Et puis j’ai entendu une voix qui me disait: ‘Lève-toi, Pierre, tue et mange.’
8 But I said: ‘Never, lord! For what is common or unclean has never entered into my mouth.’	8 “J’ai répondu: ‘Tu ne voudrais pas, Seigneur! Rien d’impur ou de souillé n’est encore entré dans ma bouche.’
9 Then the voice responded a second time from heaven, ‘What God has cleansed, you shall not call common.’	9 “Et la voix qui venait du ciel me dit: ‘Ne vois pas d’impureté là où Dieu a fait les choses pures.’
10 Now this was done three times. And then everything was taken up again into heaven.	10 “Cela s’est reproduit trois fois et tout a été remonté au ciel.
11 And behold, immediately there were three men standing near the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.	11 Immédiatement après, trois hommes arrivaient de Césarée à la maison où j’étais; on les avait envoyés me chercher.
12 Then the Spirit told me that I should go with them, doubting nothing. And these six brothers went with me also. And we entered into the house of the man.	12 “C’est alors que l’Esprit m’a dit d’aller avec eux sans faire de difficultés. Avec moi sont partis les six frères que voilà, et nous sommes entrés dans la maison de cet homme.
13 And he described for us how he had seen an Angel in his house, standing and saying to him: ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter.	13 Il nous a alors raconté comment il avait vu dans sa maison un ange qui s’était présenté devant lui et lui avait dit: Envoie chercher à Joppé Simon surnommé Pierre;
14 And he shall speak to you words, by which you shall be saved with your whole house.’	14 il te donnera un message grâce auquel tu seras sauvé avec tous ceux de ta maison.
15 And when I had begun to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as upon us also, in the beginning.	15 “Je commence à m’expliquer, et voici que le Saint Esprit tombe sur eux comme il avait fait pour nous au début.
16 Then I remembered the words of the Lord, just as he himself said: ‘John, indeed, baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’	16 Je me suis alors rappelé la parole du Seigneur qui disait: Jean a baptisé dans l’eau, mais vous, vous serez baptisés dans l’Esprit Saint.
17 Therefore, if God gave them the same grace, as also to us, who have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I would be able to prohibit God?”	17 Puisque Dieu leur avait accordé le même don qu’à nous quand nous avons cru au Seigneur Jésus Christ, pouvais-je moi m’opposer à Dieu?”
18 Having heard these things, they were silent. And they glorified God, saying: “So has God also given to the Gentiles repentance unto life.”	18 Avec ces explications ils se tranquillisèrent. Ils rendirent gloire à Dieu en disant: "Ainsi donc, Dieu donne aussi aux autres peuples la conversion qui mène à la vie!”
19 And some of them, having been dispersed by the persecution that had occurred under Stephen, traveled around, even to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the Word to no one, except to Jews only.	19 Certains qui s’étaient dispersés à cause de la persécution, au moment de l’affaire d’Étienne, étaient allés jusqu’en Phénicie, à Chypre et à Antioche. Mais ils ne prêchaient la parole qu’aux Juifs.
20 But some of these men from Cyprus and Cyrene, when they had entered into Antioch, were speaking also to the Greeks, announcing the Lord Jesus.	20 Quelques-uns cependant, des hommes de Chypre et de Cyrène qui étaient venus à Antioche, s’adressèrent également aux Grecs et leur donnèrent la bonne nouvelle du Seigneur Jésus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them. And a great number believed and were converted to the Lord.	21 La main du Seigneur fut avec eux, et il y eut pas mal de monde pour croire et se tourner vers le Seigneur.
22 Now the news came to the ears of the Church at Jerusalem about these things, and they sent Barnabas as far as Antioch.	22 Ce qu’on en racontait arriva aux oreilles de l’Église qui était à Jérusalem et ils envoyèrent Barnabé jusqu’à Antioche.
23 And when he had arrived there and had seen the grace of God, he was gladdened. And he exhorted them all to continue in the Lord with a resolute heart.	23 Une fois sur place, il fut témoin de la grâce de Dieu. Il s’en réjouit et les invita à persévérer dans le Seigneur en y mettant tout leur cœur.
24 For he was a good man, and he was filled with the Holy Spirit and with faith. And a great multitude was added to the Lord.	24 C’était un homme excellent, plein de foi et d’Esprit Saint. Finalement, bon nombre de personnes firent leur adhésion au Seigneur.
25 Then Barnabas set out for Tarsus, so that he might seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch.	25 Barnabé partit pour Tarse pour y chercher Saul.
26 And they were conversing there in the Church for an entire year. And they taught such a great multitude, that it was at Antioch that the disciples were first known by the name of Christian.	26 Il le trouva et l’amena à Antioche. Là, durant une année entière, ils travaillèrent ensemble dans l’Église, instruisant beaucoup de monde. C’est à Antioche que les disciples reçurent pour la première fois le nom de Chrétiens.
27 Now in these days, prophets from Jerusalem went over to Antioch.	27 À cette époque, des prophètes descendirent de Jérusalem à Antioche.
28 And one of them, named Agabus, rising up, signified through the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine over the entire world, which did happen under Claudius.	28 L’un d’eux, qui s’appelait Agabus, se leva sous l’action de l’Esprit et fit comprendre qu’une grande famine allait affecter toute la terre habitée. Elle eut lieu sous l’empereur Claude.
29 Then the disciples declared, according to what each one possessed, what they would offer to be sent to the brothers living in Judea.	29 Chacun des disciples commença alors à mettre de côté, à la mesure de ses moyens, ce qu’il enverrait pour l’aide aux frères qui vivaient en Judée.
30 And so they did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.	30 Quand ce fut fait, on l’envoya aux Anciens, par l’intermédiaire de Barnabé et de Saul.
