Deuteronomy 14

1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.	1 «Ви діти Господа, Бога вашого; з-за мерця не робитимете нарізок і не виголюватимете лисини між очима:
2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.	2 бо ти народ святий у Господа, Бога твого; тебе він вибрав, щоб ти був народом вибраним з усіх народів, що на землі.
3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.	3 Не їстимеш ніякої гидоти.
4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,	4 Ось яких тварин можна вам їсти: вола, вівцю й козу;
5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.	5 оленя, сарну, лань, дику козу, козулю, антилопу й гірську козу;
6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.	6 всяку скотину, яка має розколене копито й розщеплену ратицю і яка ремиґає, можна вам їсти.
7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.	7 Однак, ось із яких, Що хоч і ремиґають і мають розколене копито й розщеплену ратицю, не можна буде вам їсти: верблюда, зайця і борсука, бо вони, дарма що ремиґають, проте не мають розколених копит; вони будуть для вас нечисті;
8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.	8 свиню теж, бо хоч вона й має розщеплені ратиці, але не ремиґає; вона буде для вас нечиста. М’яса їхнього не їстимете і до їхньої падлини не доторкатиметесь.
9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.	9 Ось що можна вам їсти з усього, що в воді: все, що має плавці й луску, можна вам їсти.
10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.	10 Нічого ж із того, що не має плавців і луски, не їстимете, воно буде для вас нечисте.
11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.	11 Всяку чисту птицю можна вам їсти.
12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,	12 Та ось яких з-поміж них не будете їсти: орла, перебийнога, шуліку,
13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,	13 сокола, коршуна й кобця всякої породи;
14 and any kind of raven,	14 вороння всякої породи;
15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,	15 струся, сову, морську чайку і яструба з його породою;
16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,	16 пугача, ібіса, лебедя;
17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,	17 пелікана, стерв’ятника й рибалку;
18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.	18 чорногуза й чаплю всякої породи, одуда й кажана.
19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.	19 Всяка крилата комашня теж буде для вас нечиста, не їстимете її.
20 All that is clean, you shall eat.	20 Всяку птицю чисту можна вам їсти.
21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.	21 Не їстимете ніякого стерва; приходневі, що живе в тебе по містах, його даси, він може це їсти; або продай чужинцеві; ти бо народ святий у Господа, Бога твого. Не варитимеш і козенятка в молоці матері його.
22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.	22 Даватимеш точно десятину з усього врожаю твого посіву, з того, що виросте в полі щороку.
23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.	23 І їстимеш перед Господом, Богом твоїм, на місці, яке вибере він, щоб там поставити своє ім’я, десятину твого зерна, твого молодого вина й твоєї олії й перваків твоєї високорослої та дрібної скотини, щоб ти навчавсь, поки життя, боятися Господа, Бога твого.
24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,	24 А коли дорога буде для тебе занадто далека й буде тобі неможливо туди нести, бо далеко до того місця, що його Господь, Бог твій, вибере, щоб там поставити своє ім’я, коли Господь, Бог твій, поблагословить тебе,
25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.	25 то ти виміняєш десятину за гроші, і, затиснувши гроші в руку, підеш до того місця, що його вибере Господь, Бог твій.
26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.	26 І купиш там за гроші, чого тільки забажає душа твоя, чи волів, чи овець, чи вина, чи п’янкого напою, одне слово — усього, чого тобі захочеться, і їстимеш там перед Господом, Богом твоїм, і веселитимешся сам і сім’я твоя;
27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.	27 та не покинеш і левіта, що живе в твоїх містах, бо нема в нього, як у тебе, ні частки, ні посілости.
28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.	28 Наприкінці кожного третього року відкладеш набік десятину з усього твого врожаю за той рік і складеш її у своїх оселях.
29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”	29 І прийде левіт, бо нема в нього, як у тебе, ні частки ні посілости, і приходень, і сирота, і вдова, які живуть у тебе по містах, та й їстимуть досита, щоб Господь, Бог твій, благословив тебе в усякім ділі рук твоїх, за яке б ти тільки взявся.»
