1 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the covenant, on the first day of the second month, in the year after their departure from Egypt, saying:	1 Így szólt az Úr Mózeshez a Sínai pusztában, a szövetség sátrában, a második hónap első napján, az Egyiptomból való kivonulásuk után a második esztendőben:
2 “Take a total of the entire assembly of the sons of Israel, by their families and houses, and the names of each one, of whomever is of the male sex,	2 »Írjátok össze Izrael fiainak egész közösségét nemzetségük, nagycsaládjuk és nevük szerint: minden férfit,
3 from twenty years and above, of all the able-bodied men out of Israel, and you shall number them by their companies, you and Aaron.	3 a húszévesektől kezdve felfelé mindazokat a férfiakat, akik hadra alkalmasak Izraelben. Azután te és Áron számláljátok meg őket csapataik szerint.
4 And there shall be with you the leaders of the tribes, as well as of the houses, in their kinships,	4 Legyen azonban mellettetek törzsenként egy-egy olyan férfi, aki feje nemzetsége nagycsaládjának,
5 the names of whom are these: of Ruben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;	5 név szerint: Rúbenből Eliszúr, Sedeúr fia;
6 of Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai;	6 Simeonból: Salámiel, Szúrisaddáj fia;
7 of Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;	7 Júdából Nahson, Aminádáb fia;
8 of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Zuar;	8 Isszakárból Natanael, Szuár fia;

16 These are the very noble leaders of the multitude, by their tribes and kinships, and the heads of the army of Israel.	16 Ezek voltak a nép nemes fejedelmei, mindegyikük fejedelme a maga törzsének és nagycsaládjának, feje Izrael népének.
17 Moses and Aaron took these, with all the multitude of the common people,	17 Ezeket tehát Mózes és Áron maguk mellé vették, a nép egész közösségét
18 and they gathered them together on the first day of the second month, taking a census of them by kinships, and houses, and families, and heads, and the names of each one from twenty years and above,	18 pedig összegyűjtötték a második hónap első napján, és megszámláltak származása, nemzetsége és nagycsaládja szerint, fejenként és nevenként mindenkit, a húszesztendősöktől kezdve felfelé,
19 just as the Lord had instructed Moses. And they were numbered in the desert of Sinai.	19 úgy, ahogy az Úr megparancsolta Mózesnek a Sínai pusztájában.

44 These are the ones who were numbered by Moses and Aaron and the twelve leaders of Israel, each one by the houses of their kinships.	44 Ezek voltak azok, akiket Mózes és Áron meg Izrael tizenkét fejedelme megszámlált, mindenkit az apja családja szerint.

47 But the Levites in the tribes of their families were not numbered with them.	47 A levitákat azonban, nagycsaládjuk törzse szerint nem számlálták meg velük.
48 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	48 Mert az Úr azt mondta Mózesnek:
49 “Do not number the tribe of Levi, neither shall you take a total of them with the sons of Israel.	49 »Lévi törzsét ne számláld meg, őket ne írd össze Izrael fiaival,
50 But appoint them over the tabernacle of the testimony, and all its vessels, and whatever pertains to the ceremonies. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles. And they shall be for the ministry, and they shall encamp all around the tabernacle.	50 hanem rendeld őket a bizonyság hajlékához, annak minden eszközéhez és minden olyan dolgához, amely a szertartásokhoz tartozik. Ők vigyék a hajlékot és minden eszközét, ők lássák el szolgálatát, s ők táborozzanak a hajlék körül.
51 When you would depart, the Levites shall take down the tabernacle. When you are to make camp, they shall set it up. Any outsider who will approach it shall be killed.	51 Ha indulni kell, a leviták szedjék szét a hajlékot, ha tábort kell ütni, ők állítsák fel, ha rajtuk kívül álló közelít hozzá, meg kell ölni.
52 Now the sons of Israel shall make camp, each one by his companies and bands, as well as his army.	52 Izrael fiai közül mindenki a maga csapata, szakasza és serege szerint táborozzék.
53 Moreover, the Levites shall fix their tents all around the tabernacle, lest there be an indignation over the multitude of the sons of Israel. And they shall stand watch as guardians over the tabernacle of the testimony.”	53 A hajlék körül pedig a leviták üssék fel sátraikat, hogy harag ne zúduljon Izrael fiainak sokaságára, s ők lássák el a bizonyság sátrának tennivalóit.«
54 Therefore, the sons of Israel acted according to everything that the Lord had instructed Moses.	54 Mindent úgy tettek Izrael fiai, ahogy az Úr megparancsolta Mózesnek.
