Proverbs 2

1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,	1 - Figliuol mio, se vuoi accogliere le mie parole, e mettere in serbo i miei precetti,
2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.	2 per ben prestar orecchio alla sapienza, piega il tuo cuore a conoscere la prudenza.
3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,	3 Perchè se avrai invocata la sapienza e piegato il cuore alla prudenza,
4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,	4 e se l'andrai cercando come il denaro, scavando come per scoprire tesori nascosti;
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.	5 allora tu intenderai il timore di Dio e avrai trovata la scienza del Signore.
6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.	6 Perchè è Dio che dà la sapienza, dalla sua bocca la prudenza e la scienza.
7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:	7 Egli tiene riserbata la salvezza pei buoni, e proteggerà coloro che si diportano onestamente,
8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.	8 vegliando le vie della giustizia e facendosi custode delle strade dei santi.
9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.	9 Allora capirai la giustizia e la rettitudine l'equità ed ogni buon avviamento.
10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,	10 Quando la sapienza entrerà nel tuo cuore e la scienza farà le delizie dell'anima tua,
11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,	11 il consiglio ti custodirà e la prudenza veglierà su di te
12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,	12 per scamparti dalla mala via, da quei che parlano perversamente,
13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,	13 che disertano il retto sentiero e battono le strade delle tenebre;
14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.	14 che godono del malfare e tripudiano nelle cose più pessime,
15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.	15 uomini dai torti sentierie dalla condotta vituperevole.
16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,	16 Per scamparti dalla donna che non è tua, dalla donna d'altri che fa il parlare lezioso,
17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,	17 e abbandona colui che l'ha condotta giovane sposa e dimentica il patto del suo Dio.
18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.	18 La sua casa pende sull'abisso della Morte e le sue strade tendono verso l'Inferno.
19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.	19 Tutti quelli che entrano da essa, non ritorneranno indietro e non riprenderanno più i sentieri della vita.
20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.	20 Questo affinchè tu cammini sulla buona strada e ti mantenga sui sentieri dei giusti;
21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.	21 perchè gli uomini dabbene abiteranno la terra e gli onesti ci resteranno.
22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.	22 Ma gli empi saranno sterminati dal suolo e i malfattori strappati via da esso.
