1 The understanding of David. A prayer, when he was in the cave.	1 Salmo di intelligenza di Davidde, quand' era nella spelonca. Orazione. Alzai il suono delle mie grida al Signore: alzai la mia voce per chieder soccorso al Signore:
2 With my voice, I cried out to the Lord. With my voice, I made supplication to the Lord.	2 Spando dinanzi a lui la mia orazione: ed espongo a' suoi occhi la mia tribolazione.
3 In his sight, I pour out my prayer, and before him, I declare my tribulation.	3 Mentre vien meno in me il mio spirito, e le mie vie son conosciute da te.
4 Though my spirit may become faint within me, even then, you have known my paths. Along this way, which I have been walking, they have hidden a snare for me.	4 In questa via, per cui io camminava, hanno occultato per me il laccio.
5 I considered toward the right, and I looked, but there was no one who would know me. Flight has perished before me, and there is no one who has concern for my soul.	5 Me ne stava pensoso mirando a destra, e non era chi avesse di me conoscenza.
6 I cried out to you, O Lord. I said: You are my hope, my portion in the land of the living.	6 Ogni scampo mi è tolto, e non havvi chi abbia pensiero dell'anima mia.
7 Attend to my supplication. For I have been humbled exceedingly. Free me from my persecutors, for they have been fortified against me.	7 Alzai le mie grida a te, o Signore: dissi: Tu se' mia speranza, mia porzione nella terra de' vivi.
8 Lead my soul out of confinement in order to confess your name. The just are waiting for me, until you repay me.	8 Da udienza alle mie suppliche, perch'io son formisura umiliato.
	9 Liberami da coloro, che mi perseguitano, perché sono più forti di me.
	10 Traggi dal carcere l'anima mia, affinchè io dia lode al tuo nome: i giusti stanno aspettando il momento, in cui tu mi sarai propizio.
