Proverbs 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 My child, if you take my words to heart, if you set store by my commandments,	1 - Figliuol mio, se vuoi accogliere le mie parole, e mettere in serbo i miei precetti,
2 tuning your ear to wisdom, tuning your heart to understanding,	2 per ben prestar orecchio alla sapienza, piega il tuo cuore a conoscere la prudenza.
3 yes, if your plea is for clear perception, if you cry out for understanding,	3 Perchè se avrai invocata la sapienza e piegato il cuore alla prudenza,
4 if you look for it as though for silver, search for it as though for buried treasure,	4 e se l'andrai cercando come il denaro, scavando come per scoprire tesori nascosti;
5 then you wil understand what the fear of Yahweh is, and discover the knowledge of God.	5 allora tu intenderai il timore di Dio e avrai trovata la scienza del Signore.
6 For Yahweh himself is giver of wisdom, from his mouth issue knowledge and understanding.	6 Perchè è Dio che dà la sapienza, dalla sua bocca la prudenza e la scienza.
7 He reserves his advice for the honest, a shield to those whose ways are sound;	7 Egli tiene riserbata la salvezza pei buoni, e proteggerà coloro che si diportano onestamente,
8 he stands guard over the paths of equity, he keeps watch over the way of those faithful to him.	8 vegliando le vie della giustizia e facendosi custode delle strade dei santi.
9 Then you wil understand uprightness, equity and fair dealing, the paths that lead to happiness.	9 Allora capirai la giustizia e la rettitudine l'equità ed ogni buon avviamento.
10 When wisdom comes into your heart and knowledge fil s your soul with delight,	10 Quando la sapienza entrerà nel tuo cuore e la scienza farà le delizie dell'anima tua,
11 then prudence wil be there to watch over you, and understanding wil be your guardian	11 il consiglio ti custodirà e la prudenza veglierà su di te
12 to keep you from the way that is evil, from those whose speech is deceitful,	12 per scamparti dalla mala via, da quei che parlano perversamente,
13 from those who leave the paths of honesty to walk the roads of darkness:	13 che disertano il retto sentiero e battono le strade delle tenebre;
14 those who find their joy in doing wrong, and their delight in deceitfulness,	14 che godono del malfare e tripudiano nelle cose più pessime,
15 whose tracks are twisted, and the paths that they tread crooked.	15 uomini dai torti sentierie dalla condotta vituperevole.
16 To keep you, too, from the woman who belongs to another, from the stranger, with her wheedlingwords;	16 Per scamparti dalla donna che non è tua, dalla donna d'altri che fa il parlare lezioso,
17 she has left the partner of her younger days, she has forgotten the covenant of her God;	17 e abbandona colui che l'ha condotta giovane sposa e dimentica il patto del suo Dio.
18 her house is tilting towards Death, down to the Shades go her paths.	18 La sua casa pende sull'abisso della Morte e le sue strade tendono verso l'Inferno.
19 Of those who go to her not one returns, they never regain the paths of life.	19 Tutti quelli che entrano da essa, non ritorneranno indietro e non riprenderanno più i sentieri della vita.
20 Thus you wil tread the way of good people, persisting in the paths of the upright.	20 Questo affinchè tu cammini sulla buona strada e ti mantenga sui sentieri dei giusti;
21 For the land will be for the honest to live in, the innocent will have it for their home;	21 perchè gli uomini dabbene abiteranno la terra e gli onesti ci resteranno.
22 while the wicked wil be cut off from the land, and the faithless rooted out of it.	22 Ma gli empi saranno sterminati dal suolo e i malfattori strappati via da esso.
