Proverbs 2

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 My child, if you take my words to heart, if you set store by my commandments,	1 FIGLIUOL mio, se tu ricevi i miei detti, E riponi appo te i miei comandamenti,
2 tuning your ear to wisdom, tuning your heart to understanding,	2 Rendendo il tuo orecchio attento alla Sapienza; Se tu inchini il tuo cuore all’intendimento,
3 yes, if your plea is for clear perception, if you cry out for understanding,	3 E se tu chiami la prudenza, E dài fuori la tua voce all’intendimento;
4 if you look for it as though for silver, search for it as though for buried treasure,	4 Se tu la cerchi come l’argento, E l’investighi come i tesori;
5 then you wil understand what the fear of Yahweh is, and discover the knowledge of God.	5 Allora tu intenderai il timor del Signore, E troverai la conoscenza di Dio.
6 For Yahweh himself is giver of wisdom, from his mouth issue knowledge and understanding.	6 Perciocchè il Signore dà la sapienza; Dalla sua bocca procede la scienza e l’intendimento.
7 He reserves his advice for the honest, a shield to those whose ways are sound;	7 Egli riserba la ragione a’ diritti; Egli è lo scudo di quelli che camminano in integrità;
8 he stands guard over the paths of equity, he keeps watch over the way of those faithful to him.	8 Per guardare i sentieri di dirittura, E custodire la via de’ suoi santi.
9 Then you wil understand uprightness, equity and fair dealing, the paths that lead to happiness.	9 Allora tu intenderai giustizia, giudicio, E dirittura, ed ogni buon sentiero
10 When wisdom comes into your heart and knowledge fil s your soul with delight,	10 Quando la sapienza sarà entrata nel cuor tuo, E la scienza sarà dilettevole all’anima tua;
11 then prudence wil be there to watch over you, and understanding wil be your guardian	11 L’avvedimento ti preserverà, La prudenza ti guarderà;
12 to keep you from the way that is evil, from those whose speech is deceitful,	12 Per liberarti dalla via malvagia, Dagli uomini che parlano di cose perverse;
13 from those who leave the paths of honesty to walk the roads of darkness:	13 I quali lasciano i sentieri della dirittura, Per camminar per le vie delle tenebre;
14 those who find their joy in doing wrong, and their delight in deceitfulness,	14 I quali si rallegrano di far male, E festeggiano nelle perversità di malizia;
15 whose tracks are twisted, and the paths that they tread crooked.	15 I quali son torti nelle lor vie, E traviati ne’ lor sentieri.
16 To keep you, too, from the woman who belongs to another, from the stranger, with her wheedlingwords;	16 Per iscamparti ancora dalla donna straniera; Dalla forestiera che parla vezzosamente;
17 she has left the partner of her younger days, she has forgotten the covenant of her God;	17 La quale ha abbandonato il conduttor della sua giovanezza, Ed ha dimenticato il patto del suo Dio.
18 her house is tilting towards Death, down to the Shades go her paths.	18 Conciossiachè la casa di essa dichini alla morte, Ed i suoi sentieri a’ morti.
19 Of those who go to her not one returns, they never regain the paths of life.	19 Niuno di coloro ch’entrano da essa non ne ritorna, E non riprende i sentieri della vita.
20 Thus you wil tread the way of good people, persisting in the paths of the upright.	20 Acciocchè ancora tu cammini per la via de’ buoni, Ed osservi i sentieri de’ giusti.
21 For the land will be for the honest to live in, the innocent will have it for their home;	21 Perciocchè gli uomini diritti abiteranno la terra, E gli uomini intieri rimarranno in essa.
22 while the wicked wil be cut off from the land, and the faithless rooted out of it.	22 Ma gli empi saranno sterminati dalla terra, E i disleali ne saranno divelti
