Psalms 72

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Of Solomon.	1 De Salomon. O Dieu, donne au roi ton jugement, au fils de roi ta justice,
2 O God, give your judgment to the king; your justice to the son of kings; That he may govern your people with justice, your oppressed with right judgment,	2 qu'il rende à ton peuple sentence juste et jugement à tes petits.
3 That the mountains may yield their bounty for the people, and the hills great abundance,	3 Montagnes, apportez, et vous collines, la paix au peuple. Avec justice
4 That he may defend the oppressed among the people, save the poor and crush the oppressor.	4 il jugera le petit peuple, il sauvera les fils de pauvres, il écrasera leurs bourreaux.
5 May he live as long as the sun endures, like the moon, through all generations.	5 Il durera sous le soleil et la lune siècle après siècle;
6 May he be like rain coming down upon the fields, like showers watering the earth,	6 il descendra comme la pluie sur le regain, comme la bruine mouillant la terre.
7 That abundance may flourish in his days, great bounty, till the moon be no more.	7 En ses jours justice fleurira et grande paix jusqu'à la fin des lunes;
8 May he rule from sea to sea, from the river to the ends of the earth.	8 il dominera de la mer à la mer, du Fleuve jusqu'aux bouts de la terre.
9 May his foes kneel before him, his enemies lick the dust.	9 Devant lui se courbera la Bête, ses ennemis lécheront la poussière;
10 May the kings of Tarshish and the islands bring tribute, the kings of Arabia and Seba offer gifts.	10 les rois de Tarsis et des îles rendront tribut. Les rois de Saba et de Seba feront offrande;
11 May all kings bow before him, all nations serve him.	11 tous les rois se prosterneront devant lui, tous les païens le serviront.
12 For he rescues the poor when they cry out, the oppressed who have no one to help.	12 Car il délivre le pauvre qui appelle et le petit qui est sans aide;
13 He shows pity to the needy and the poor and saves the lives of the poor.	13 compatissant au faible et au pauvre, il sauve l'âme des pauvres.
14 From extortion and violence he frees them, for precious is their blood in his sight.	14 De l'oppression, de la violence, il rachète leur âme, leur sang est précieux à ses yeux.
15 Long may he live, receiving gold from Arabia, prayed for without cease, blessed day by day.	15 (Qu'il vive et que lui soit donné l'or de Saba! ) On priera pour lui sans relâche, tout le jour, on lebénira.
16 May wheat abound in the land, flourish even on the mountain heights. May his fruit increase like Lebanon's, his wheat like the grasses of the land.	16 Foisonne le froment sur la terre, qu'il ondule au sommet des montagnes, comme le Liban quand iléveille ses fruits et ses fleurs, comme l'herbe de la terre!
17 May his name be blessed forever; as long as the sun, may his name endure. May the tribes of the earth give blessings with his name; may all the nations regard him as favored.	17 Soit béni son nom à jamais, qu'il dure sous le soleil! Bénies seront en lui toutes les races de laterre, que tous les païens le disent bienheureux!
18 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wonderful deeds.	18 Béni soit Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, qui seul a fait des merveilles;
19 Blessed be his glorious name forever; may all the earth be filled with the LORD'S glory. Amen and amen.	19 béni soit à jamais son nom de gloire, toute la terre soit remplie de sa gloire! Amen! Amen!
