1 Pál és Timóteus, Krisztus Jézus szolgái, Krisztus Jézus összes szentjének Filippiben az elöljárókkal és a diákonusokkal együtt.	1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.
2 Kegyelem nektek és békesség Istentől, a mi Atyánktól és az Úr Jézus Krisztustól!	2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Valahányszor megemlékezem rólatok, hálát adok Istenemnek,	3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,
4 és mindig, minden imádságomban örömmel könyörgök mindnyájatokért,	4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy
5 mivel részt vesztek az evangélium szolgálatában az első naptól kezdve mindmáig.	5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.
6 Bízom is abban, hogy aki megkezdte bennetek a jó művet, teljessé teszi azt Krisztus Jézus napjáig.	6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.
7 Illő is, hogy így gondolkozzam mindnyájatokról, mert szívembe zártalak titeket, akik a bilincseimben, valamint az evangélium védelmezésében és megerősítésében mindannyian részesei vagytok a nekem juttatott kegyelemnek.	7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.
8 Mert Isten a tanúm, mennyire vágyódom mindnyájatok után Krisztus Jézus szeretetében.	8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;
9 Azért imádkozom, hogy szeretetetek mindjobban gazdagodjék megismerésben és teljes megértésben,	9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding
10 hogy meg tudjátok ítélni, mi a helyes, hogy tiszták és kifogástalanok legyetek Krisztus napjára,	10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,
11 telve az igaz életnek Jézus Krisztus által szerzett gyümölcsével Isten dicsőségére és dicséretére.	11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.
12 Tudomásotokra akarom hozni, testvérek, hogy jelen körülményeim inkább hasznára vannak az evangéliumnak,	12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.
13 mert az egész császári testőrségben és máshol is ismeretes lett, hogy bilincseimet Krisztusért viselem,	13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,
14 és az Úrban való testvérek többsége bilincseimből bizalmat merítve bátrabban, félelem nélkül meri hirdetni az igét.	14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.
15 Némelyek ugyan irigységből és versengésből, mások azonban jóakaratból hirdetik Krisztust.	15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;
16 Ezek szeretetből, mert tudják, hogy az evangélium védelméért vagyok itt;	16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.
17 azok meg versengésből, nem tiszta szándékkal hirdetik Krisztust, s azt hiszik, hogy lelki kínt okoznak bilincseimben.	17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.
18 De mit számít ez? Csak Krisztust hirdessék bármi módon, akár hátsó gondolattal, akár őszinte szándékkal. Én örülök neki. Sőt, ezután is örülni fogok,	18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;
19 mert tudom, hogy ez üdvösségemre válik imádságotok és Jézus Krisztus Lelkének segítsége által.	19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;
20 Ez az én várakozásom és reménységem, hogy semmiben sem szégyenülök meg, ellenkezőleg, teljes a bizalmam, hogy mint mindig, úgy most is megdicsőül Krisztus az én testemben, akár élet, akár halál által.	20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.
21 Mert számomra az élet Krisztus, a halál pedig nyereség.	21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.
22 De ha az életben maradás az eredményes munkát jelenti számomra, akkor nem tudom, mit válasszak.	22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.
23 A kettő között vívódom: szeretnék elköltözni és Krisztussal lenni, mert ez mindennél jobb lenne,	23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-
24 tiértetek viszont szükségesebb, hogy a testben maradjak.	24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.
25 Mivel meg vagyok erről győződve, tudom, hogy maradok, és együtt maradok mindnyájatokkal a ti előrehaladásotok érdekében, és hitből fakadó örömötökre,	25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,
26 hogy még inkább dicsekedhessetek velem Krisztus Jézusban, amikor újból elmegyek hozzátok.	26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.
27 Ezért tehát éljetek is méltón Krisztus evangéliumához, hogy akár elmegyek és meglátlak benneteket, akár távol vagyok, azt halljam rólatok, hogy egy Lélekben vagytok, egyetértően együtt küzdötök az evangélium hitéért,	27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,
28 és egyáltalán nem rettentek meg az ellenfelektől. Ez számukra a kárhozatnak, számotokra pedig az üdvösségnek a jele, mégpedig Istentől.	28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.
29 Mert Krisztusért ti nem csak azt a kegyelmet kaptátok, hogy higgyetek benne, hanem hogy szenvedjetek is érte,	29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;
30 hiszen ti is ugyanazt a harcot vívjátok, amelyet nálam láttatok, és amelyet most felőlem hallotok.	30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.
