1 And rising up from thence, he cometh into the coasts of Judea beyond the Jordan: and the multitudes flock to him again. And as he was accustomed, he taught them again.	1 Partito di là, Gesù viene nel territorio della Giudea e nell’oltre Giordano; e le folle si riuniscono di nuovo intorno a lui, e di nuovo egli, come di solito, le istruiva.
2 And the Pharisees coming to him asked him: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.	2 E avvicinatisi alcuni farisei gli domandarono, per tentarlo, se è lecito a un marito ripudiare la moglie.
3 But he answering, saith to them: What did Moses command you?	3 Egli rispose: «Che cosa vi ha comandato Mosè?»
4 Who said: Moses permitted to write a bill of divorce, and to put her away.	4 Quelli dissero: «Mosè ha permesso di scrivere un atto di divorzio e di ripudiare».
5 To whom Jesus answering, said: Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you that precept.	5 Ma Gesù replicò: «È a causa della vostra durezza di cuore che egli ha scritto per voi questo precetto.
6 But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.	6 Ma dal principio della creazione Dio maschio e femmina li fece:
7 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife.	7 per questo l’uomo abbandonerà suo padre e sua madre e saranno, i due, una carne sola.
8 And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh.	8 Sicchè non sono più due, ma una carne sola.
9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.	9 L’uomo, dunque, non separi ciò che Dio ha unito».
10 And in the house again his disciples asked him concerning the same thing.	10 Entrati nella casa, i discepoli lo interrogarono di nuovo su questo punto,
11 And he saith to them: Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery against her.	11 ed egli disse loro: «Chiunque ripudia la propria moglie e ne sposa un’altra, commette adulterio contro di lei;
12 And if the wife shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.	12 e se una donna ripudia il proprio marito e ne sposa un altro commette adulterio».
13 And they brought to him young children, that he might touch them. And the disciples rebuked them that brought them.	13 E gli presentavano dei bambini affinché li toccasse, ma i discepoli li sgridarono.
14 Whom when Jesus saw, he was much displeased, and saith to them: Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.	14 Gesù, vedendo ciò, si indignò e disse loro: «Lasciate che i bambini vengano a me, non li impedite! Poiché il regno di Dio appartiene a quelli come loro.
15 Amen I say to you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall not enter into it.	15 In verità vi dico: Chi non accoglie il regno di Dio come un bambino non vi entrerà»
16 And embracing them, and laying his hands upon them, he blessed them.	16 E, prendendoli fra le braccia, li benediceva imponendo loro le mani.
17 And when he was gone forth into the way, a certain man running up and kneeling before him, asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may receive life everlasting?	17 Mentre egli si metteva in cammino, un tale accorse e, gettatosi alle ginocchia di lui, lo interrogava: «Maestro buono, che cosa devo fare per ottenere in sorte la vita eterna?»
18 And Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? None is good but one, that is God.	18 Gesù gli disse: «Perché mi chiami buono? Solo Dio è buono.
19 Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, bear not false witness, do no fraud, honour thy father and mother.	19 Tu conosci i comandamenti: Non uccidere, non commettere adulterio, non rubare, non dir falsatestimonianza, non frodare, onora tuo padre e tua madre».
20 But he answering, said to him: Master, all these things I have observed from my youth.	20 «Maestro — quegli rispose — tutte queste cose le ho osservate fin dalla mia giovinezza!»
21 And Jesus looking on him, loved him, and said to him: One thing is wanting unto thee: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.	21 Allora Gesù, fissatolo, lo amò e gli disse: «Ti manca una cosa: va’, vendi ciò che hai e dallo ai poveri, e avrai un tesoro nel cielo; poi vieni, seguimi portando la croce!»
22 Who being struck sad at that saying, went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.	22 Ma quegli si fece triste a queste parole e se ne andò afflitto, perché aveva molti beni.
23 And Jesus looking round about, saith to his disciples: How hardly shall they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God!	23 Gesù volse attorno lo sguardo e disse ai suoi discepoli: «Quanto è difficile a quelli che hanno ricchezze entrare nel regno di Dio!
24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus again answering, saith to them: Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God?	24 I discepoli si spaventavano alle sue parole. Ma Gesù, riprendendo il discorso dice loro: «Figli, quanto è difficile entrare nel regno di Dio!
25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.	25 È più facile a un cammello entrare per la cruna di un ago che a un ricco entrare nel regno di Dio».
26 Who wondered the more, saying among themselves: Who then can be saved?	26 E quelli erano ancor più sbalorditi e dicevano tra loro: «E chi si può salvare?»
27 And Jesus looking on them, saith: With men it is impossible; but not with God: for all things are possible with God.	27 Gesù, fissandoli, disse: «Agli uomini è impossibile, ma non a Dio: perché tutto è possibile a Dio».
28 And Peter began to say unto him: Behold, we have left all things, and have followed thee.	28 Pietro prese a dirgli: «Ecco, noi abbiamo lasciato tutto e ti abbiamo seguito!»
29 Jesus answering, said: Amen I say to you, there is no man who hath left house or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,	29 Gesù rispose. «In verità vi dico: non c’è nessuno che abbia abbandonato casa, fratelli, sorelle, madre, padre, figli e campi per me o per l’evangelo,
30 Who shall not receive an hundred times as much, now in this time; houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions: and in the world to come life everlasting.	30 che non riceva il centuplo fin d’ora, nel tempo presente, in case, fratelli, sorelle, madri, figli e campi, insieme con persecuzioni, e la vita eterna nel secolo futuro.
31 But many that are first, shall be last: and the last, first.	31 E molti dei primi saranno ultimi, e gli ultimi primi».
32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem: and Jesus went before them, and they were astonished; and following were afraid. And taking again the twelve, he began to tell them the things that should befall him.	32 Erano intanto in viaggio per salire a Gerusalemme e Gesù camminava davanti a loro, e di ciò essi erano stupefatti, e quelli che seguivano avevan paura. Prendendo di nuovo con sé i dodici, Gesù cominciò a dire loro ciò che stava per accadergli:
33 Saying: Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests, and to the scribes and ancients, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles.	33 «Ecco che noi saliamo a Gerusalemme, e i Figlio dell’uomo sarà consegnato ai gran sacerdoti e agli scribi; e lo condanneranno a morte e lo consegneranno ai pagani;
34 And they shall mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.	34 lo scherniranno, gli sputeranno addosso, lo flagelleranno, lo uccideranno, e dopo tre giorni risorgerà».
35 And James and John the sons of Zebedee, come to him, saying: Master, we desire that whatsoever we shall ask, thou wouldst do it for us:	35 Giacomo e Giovanni, i figli di Zebedeo, gli Sì avvicinarono e gli dissero: «Maestro, vogliamo che tu ci conceda ciò che ti chiederemo».
36 But he said to them: What would you that I should do for you?	36 Egli disse: «Che cosa volete che io vi dia?»
37 And they said: Grant to us, that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.	37 Gli risposero: «Fa’ che, nella tua gloria, noi sediamo uno alla tua destra e uno alla tua sinistra».
38 And Jesus said to them: You know not what you ask. Can you drink of the chalice that I drink of: or be baptized with the baptism wherewith I am baptized?	38 Gesù disse: «Voi non sapete ciò che chiedete. Potete bere il calice che io bevo o esser battezzati col battesimo con cui io sono battezzato?»
39 But they said to him: We can. And Jesus saith to them: You shall indeed drink of the chalice that I drink of: and with the baptism wherewith I am baptized, you shall be baptized.	39 «Possiamo!» gli risposero. Ma Gesù disse loro: «Il calice che io bevo lo berrete, col battesimo con cui io sarò battezzato sarete battezzati;
40 But to sit on my right hand, or on my left, is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared.	40 sedere, però, alla mia destra o alla mia Sinistra non spetta a me concederlo, ma è per coloro ai quali è stato destinato».
41 And the ten hearing it, began to be much displeased at James and John.	41 Udendo ciò, gli altri dieci cominciarono ad adirarsi contro Giacomo e Giovanni.
42 But Jesus calling them, saith to them: You know that they who seem to rule over the Gentiles, lord it over them: and their princes have power over them.	42 Gesù li chiamò a sé e disse loro: «Voi sapete che coloro i quali son considerati capi dei pagani spadroneggiano su di essi, e i loro grandi esercitano potestà su di essi;
43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever will be greater, shall be your minister.	43 tra voi, invece, non è così, ma chi vuol diventare grande fra voi dovrà essere vostro servo,
44 And whosoever will be first among you, shall be the servant of all.	44 e chi tra voi vuol essere primo dovrà essere servo di tutti.
45 For the Son of man also is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a redemption for many.	45 Il Figlio dell’uomo, infatti, non è venuto per farsi servire ma per servire e dare la sua vita in riscatto per molti».
46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho, with his disciples, and a very great multitude, Bartimeus the blind man, the son of Timeus, sat by the way side begging.	46 E arrivano a Gerico. Uscito Gesù dalla città con i suoi discepoli e gran folla, il figlio di Timeo, Bartimeo, un mendicante cieco, era seduto lungo la via.
47 Who when he had heard, that it was Jesus of Nazareth, began to cry out, and to say: Jesus son of David, have mercy on me.	47 Sentendo: «È Gesù di Nazaret», cominciò a gridare: «Figlio di Davide, Gesù, abbi pietà di me!»
48 And many rebuked him, that he might hold his peace; but he cried a great deal the more: Son of David, have mercy on me.	48 Molti lo sgridavano per farlo tacere, ma egli gridava più forte: «Figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!»
49 And Jesus, standing still, commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying to him: Be of better comfort: arise, he calleth thee.	49 Gesù si fermò e disse: «Chiamatelo!» Chiamano il cieco dicendogli: «Coraggio, alzati, ti chiama!»
50 Who casting off his garment leaped up, and came to him.	50 Ed egli, gettando via il mantello, saltò su e venne a Gesù.
51 And Jesus answering, said to him: What wilt thou that I should do to thee? And the blind man said to him: Rabboni, that I may see.	51 Gesù gli domandò: «Che cosa vuoi che ti faccia?» «Rabbuni, che io veda!» gli rispose il cieco.
52 And Jesus saith to him: Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he saw, and followed him in the way.	52 E Gesù gli disse: «Va’, la tua fede ti ha salvato». E subito quello ci vide e seguiva Gesù per la via.
