1 IL Signore parlò ancora a Mosè, nel deserto di Sinai, nel Tabernacolo della convenenza, nel primo giorno del secondo mese, nell’anno secondo da che i figliuoli d’Israele furono usciti fuor del paese di Egitto, dicendo:	1 In the year following that of the Israelites' departure from the land of Egypt, on the first day of the second month, the LORD said to Moses in the meeting tent in the desert of Sinai:
2 Levate la somma di tutta la raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele, secondo le lor nazioni, e le famiglie de’ padri loro, contando per nome, a testa a testa, ogni maschio,	2 "Take a census of the whole community of the Israelites, by clans and ancestral houses, registering each male individually.
3 di età da vent’anni in su, tutti coloro che possono andare alla guerra in Israele; annoverateli, tu, ed Aaronne, per le loro schiere.	3 You and Aaron shall enroll in companies all the men in Israel of twenty years or more who are fit for military service.
4 E siavi con voi un uomo di ciascuna tribù, che sia capo della sua casa paterna.	4 "To assist you there shall be a man from each tribe, the head of his ancestral house.
5 E questi sono i nomi di coloro che saranno presenti con voi: Di Ruben, Elisur, figliuolo di Sedeur;	5 These are the names of those who are to assist you: from Reuben: Elizur, son of Shedeur;
6 Di Simeone, Selumiel, figliuolo di Surisaddai;	6 from Simeon: Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai;
7 Di Giuda, Naasson, figliuolo di Amminadab;	7 from Judah: Nahshon, son of Amminadab;
8 D’Issacar, Natanael, figliuolo di Suar;	8 from Issachar: Nethanel, son of Zuar;
9 Di Zabulon, Eliab, figliuolo di Helon;	9 from Zebulun: Eliab, son of Helon;
10 De’ figliuoli di Giuseppe: di Efraim, Elisama, figliuoli di Ammiud; di Manasse, Gamliel, figliuolo di Pedasur;	10 from Ephraim: Elishama, son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh: Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, for the descendants of Joseph;
11 Di Beniamino, Abidan, figliuolo di Ghidoni;	11 from Benjamin: Abidan, son of Gideoni;
12 Di Dan, Ahiezer, figliuolo di Ammisaddai;	12 from Dan: Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai;
13 Di Aser, Paghiel, figliuolo di Ocran;	13 from Asher: Pagiel, son of Ochran;
14 Di Gad, Eliasaf, figliuolo di Deuel;	14 from Gad: Eliasaph, son of Reuel;
15 Di Neftali, Ahira, figliuolo di Enan.	15 from Naphtali: Ahira, son of Enan."
16 Costoro erano quelli che si chiamavano alla raunanza, principali delle tribù loro paterne, e capi delle migliaia d’Israele	16 These were councilors of the community, princes of their ancestral tribes, chiefs of the troops of Israel.
17 Mosè adunque ed Aaronne presero seco questi uomini, ch’erano stati nominati per li nomi loro.	17 So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated,
18 E, a’ calendi del secondo mese, adunarono tutta la raunanza; e le generazioni de’ figliuoli d’Israele furono descritte per le lor nazioni, e per le famiglie loro paterne, contandoli per nome dall’età di vent’anni in su, a testa a testa.	18 and assembled the whole community on the first day of the second month. Every man of twenty years or more then declared his name and lineage according to clan and ancestral house,
19 Come il Signore avea comandato a Mosè, egli li annoverò nel deserto di Sinai.	19 as the LORD had commanded Moses. This is their census as taken in the desert of Sinai.
20 E delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Ruben, primogenito d’Israele, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome, a testa a testa, d’infra tutti i maschi, dall’età di vent’anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra;	20 Of the descendants of Reuben, the first-born of Israel, registered by lineage in clans and ancestral houses: when all the males of twenty years or more who were fit for military service were polled,
21 gli annoverati della tribù di Ruben furono quarantaseimila cinquecento.	21 forty-six thousand five hundred were enrolled in the tribe of Reuben.
22 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Simeone, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome, a testa a testa, d’infra tutti i maschi, dall’età di vent’anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra;	22 Of the descendants of Simeon, registered by lineage in clans and ancestral houses: when all the males of twenty years or more who were fit for military service were polled,
23 gli annoverati della tribù di Simeone furono cinquantanovemila trecento.	23 fifty-nine thousand three hundred were enrolled in the tribe of Simeon.
24 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Gad, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra, dall’età di vent’anni in su;	24 Of the descendants of Gad, registered by lineage in clans and ancestral houses: when all the males of twenty years or more who were fit for military service were polled,
25 gli annoverati della tribù di Gad furono quarantacinquemila seicencinquanta.	25 forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty were enrolled in the tribe of Gad.

43 gli annoverati della tribù di Neftali furono cinquantatremila quattrocento	43 fifty-three thousand four hundred were enrolled in the tribe of Naphtali.
44 Questi furono gli annoverati, i quali Mosè ed Aaronne annoverarono, insieme co’ principali d’Israele, ch’erano dodici uomini, uno per famiglia paterna.	44 It was these who were registered, each according to his ancestral house, in the census taken by Moses and Aaron and the twelve princes of Israel.
45 Così, tutti gli annoverati d’infra i figliuoli d’Israele, per le lor famiglie paterne, dall’età di vent’anni in su, che potevano andare alla guerra,	45 The total number of the Israelites of twenty years or more who were fit for military service, registered by ancestral houses,
46 furono seicentotremila cinquecencinquanta	46 was six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty.
47 Ma i Leviti non furono annoverati fra loro secondo la lor tribù paterna;	47 The Levites, however, were not registered by ancestral tribe with the others.
48 perciocchè il Signore avea detto a Mosè:	48 For the LORD had told Moses,
49 Sol non annoverar la tribù di Levi, e non levarne la somma per mezzo i figliuoli d’Israele.	49 "The tribe of Levi alone you shall not enroll nor include in the census along with the other Israelites.
50 Ma ordina i Leviti sopra il Tabernacolo della Testimonianza, e sopra tutti i suoi arredi; e sopra tutte le cose ad esso appartenenti; e portino essi il Tabernacolo e tutti i suoi arredi; e facciano i servigi di esso, e accampinvisi attorno.	50 You are to give the Levites charge of the Dwelling of the commandments with all its equipment and all that belongs to it. It is they who shall carry the Dwelling with all its equipment and who shall be its ministers. They shall therefore camp around the Dwelling.
51 E quando il Tabernacolo si dipartirà, mettanlo giù i Leviti; quando altresì si accamperà, rizzinlo i Leviti; e se alcuno straniere vi si appressa, sia fatto morire.	51 When the Dwelling is to move on, the Levites shall take it down; when the Dwelling is to be pitched, it is the Levites who shall set it up. Any layman who comes near it shall be put to death.
52 Or accampinsi i figliuoli d’Israele, ciascuno nel suo quartiere, e ciascuno presso alla sua bandiera, per le loro schiere.	52 While the other Israelites shall camp by companies, each in his own division of the camp,
53 Ma accampinsi i Leviti intorno al Tabernacolo della Testimonianza; acciocchè non vi sia ira contro alla raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele; e facciano i Leviti la funzione del Tabernacolo della Testimonianza.	53 the Levites shall camp around the Dwelling of the commandments. Otherwise God's wrath will strike the Israelite community. The Levites, then, shall have charge of the Dwelling of the commandments."
54 E i figliuoli d’Israele fecero interamente come il Signore avea comandato	54 All this the Israelites fulfilled as the LORD had commanded Moses.
