Salmi 51

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici; intorno a ciò che il profeta Natan venne a lui, dopo ch’egli fu entrato da Bat-seba. ABBI pietà di me, o Dio, secondo la tua benignità; Secondo la moltitudine delle tue compassioni, cancella i miei misfatti.	1 [For the choirmaster Of David When the prophet Nathan had come to him because he had gone toBathsheba] Have mercy on me, O God, in your faithful love, in your great tenderness wipe away my offences;
2 Lavami molto e molto della mia iniquità, E nettami del mio peccato.	2 wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sin.
3 Perciocchè io conosco i miei misfatti, E il mio peccato è del continuo davanti a me.	3 For I am wel aware of my offences, my sin is constantly in mind.
4 Io ho peccato contro a te solo, Ed ho fatto quello che ti dispiace; Io lo confesso, acciocchè tu sii riconosciuto giusto nelle tue parole, E puro ne’ tuoi guidicii.	4 Against you, you alone, I have sinned, I have done what you see to be wrong, that you may show yoursaving justice when you pass sentence, and your victory may appear when you give judgement,
5 Ecco, io sono stato formato in iniquità; E la madre mia mi ha conceputo in peccato.	5 remember, I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception.
6 Ecco, ti è piaciuto insegnarmi verità nell’interiore, E sapienza nel di dentro	6 But you delight in sincerity of heart, and in secret you teach me wisdom.
7 Purgami con isopo, e sarò netto; Lavami, e sarò più bianco che neve.	7 Purify me with hyssop till I am clean, wash me til I am whiter than snow.
8 Fammi udire gioia ed allegrezza; Fa’ che le ossa che tu hai tritate, festeggino.	8 Let me hear the sound of joy and gladness, and the bones you have crushed wil dance.
9 Nascondi la tua faccia da’ miei peccati, E cancella tutte le mie iniquità.	9 Turn away your face from my sins, and wipe away al my guilt.
10 O Dio, crea in me un cuor puro, E rinnovella dentro di me uno spirito diritto.	10 God, create in me a clean heart, renew within me a resolute spirit,
11 Non rigettarmi dalla tua faccia; E non togliermi lo Spirito tuo santo.	11 do not thrust me away from your presence, do not take away from me your spirit of holiness.
12 Rendimi l’allegrezza della tua salute; E fa’ che lo Spirito volontario mi sostenga.	12 Give me back the joy of your salvation, sustain in me a generous spirit.
13 Io insegnerò le tue vie a’ trasgressori; E i peccatori si convertiranno a te	13 I shal teach the wicked your paths, and sinners will return to you.
14 Liberami dal sangue, o Dio, Dio della mia salute; La mia lingua canterà con giubilo la tua giustizia.	14 Deliver me from bloodshed, God, God of my salvation, and my tongue wil acclaim your savingjustice.
15 Signore, aprimi le labbra; E la mia bocca racconterà la tua lode.	15 Lord, open my lips, and my mouth wil speak out your praise.
16 Perciocchè tu non prendi piacere in sacrificio; Altrimenti io l’avrei offerto; Tu non gradisci olocausto.	16 Sacrifice gives you no pleasure, burnt offering you do not desire.
17 I sacrificii di Dio sono lo spirito rotto; O Dio, tu non isprezzi il cuor rotto e contrito.	17 Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken, contrite heart you never scorn.
18 Fa’ del bene a Sion per la tua benevolenza; Edifica le mura di Gerusalemme.	18 In your graciousness do good to Zion, rebuild the wal s of Jerusalem.
19 Allora prenderai piacere in sacrificii di giustizia, In olocausti, e in offerte da ardere interamente; Allora si offeriranno giovenchi sul tuo Altare	19 Then you wil delight in upright sacrifices,-burnt offerings and whole oblations -- and young bul s will be offered on your altar.
