| 1 Ora, sendo nós cooperadores (de Cristo), vos exortamos a que não recebais em vão a graça de Deus. | 1 And we helping do exhort you, that you receive not the grace of God in vain. |
| 2 Porque ele diz: Eu te ouvi, no tempo aceitável, e te ajudei, no dia da salvação (Is. 49, 8). Eis aqui agora o tempo aceitável, eis aqui agora o dia da salvação. | 2 For he saith: In an accepted time have I heard thee; and in the day of salvation have I helped thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. |
| 3 Não damos a ninguém ocasião alguma de escândalo, para que não seja vituperado o nosso ministério, | 3 Giving no offence to any man, that our ministry be not blamed: |
| 4 antes em todas as coisas nos mostramos como ministros de Deus, com muita paciência nas tribulações, nas necessidades, nas angústias, | 4 But in all things let us exhibit ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulation, in necessities, in distresses, |
| 5 nos açoites, nos cárceres, nas sedições, nos trabalhos, nas vigílias, nos jejuns; | 5 In stripes, in prisons, in seditions, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, |
| 6 com a castidade, com a ciência, com a longanimidade, com a mansidão, com o Espírito Santo, com a caridade não fingida, | 6 In chastity, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in sweetness, in the Holy Ghost, in charity unfeigned, |
| 7 com a palavra da verdade, com a virtude de Deus, com as armas da justiça, na mão direita e na mão esquerda, | 7 In the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armour of justice on the right hand and on the left; |
| 8 entre a glória e a ignomínia, entre a infâmia e o bom nome; considerados como impostores, embora sejamos verdadeiros; como desconhecidos, embora conhecidos; | 8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet known; |
| 9 como moribundos, mas ainda vivos; como castigados, mas escapados à morte; | 9 As dying, and behold we live; as chastised, and not killed; |
| 10 como tristes, mas sempre alegres; como pobres, mas enriquecendo a muitos; como não tendo nada, mas possuindo tudo. | 10 As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as needy, yet enriching many; as having nothing, and possessing all things. |
| 11 A nossa boca está aberta para vós, ó Coríntios, o nosso coração dilatou-se. | 11 Our mouth is open to you, O ye Corinthians, our heart is enlarged. |
| 12 Não estais apertados dentro dele. Apertados sois vós de coração. | 12 You are not straitened in us, but in your own bowels you are straitened. |
| 13 Dai-nos igual correspondência (de amor), falo-vos como a filhos, dilatai-vos também vós. | 13 But having the same recompense, (I speak as to my children,) be you also enlarged. |
| 14 Não vos sujeiteis ao mesmo jugo que os infiéis. Pois, que união pode haver entre a justiça e a iniquidade? Ou que sociedade entre a luz e as trevas? | 14 Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? |
| 15 Que concórdia entre Cristo e Belial? Que de comum entre o fiel e o infiel? | 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever? |
| 16 Que relação entre o templo de Deus e os ídolos? Com efeito, somos o templo de Deus vivo, como Deus disse: Habitarei neles e andarei entre eles, serei o seu Deus e eles serão o meu povo (Lv. 26, 11-12). | 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God saith: I will dwell in them, and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. |
| 17 Portanto, sai do meio deles e separai-vos, diz o Senhor. Não toqueis o que é impuro, e eu vos receberei. | 17 Wherefore, Go out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: |
| 18 Serei vosso pai, e vós sereis meus filhos e minhas filhas, diz o Senhor todo poderoso (Is. 52,11; Jer. 31,9). | 18 And I will receive you; and I will be a Father to you; and you shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. |
