| 1 Levantando Jesus os olhos, viu vários ricos que lançavam as suas oferendas no gazofilácio. | 1 When he looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury |

| 5 Dizendo alguns, a respeito do templo, que estava ornado de belas pedras e de ricas ofertas, Jesus disse; | 5 While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, he said, |
| 6 "De tudo isto que vedes, virão dias em que não ficará pedra sobre pedra, que não seja demolida." | 6 "All that you see here--the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down." |
| 7 Então interrogaram-no: "Mestre, quando acontecerão estas coisas, e que sinal haverá, quando estiverem para acontecer?" | 7 Then they asked him, "Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?" |
| 8 Ele respondeu: "Vede, não vos deixeis enganar; porque muitos virão com o meu nome, dizendo: Sou eu, está próximo o tempo. Não os sigais. | 8 He answered, "See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The time has come.' Do not follow them! |
| 9 Quando ouvirdes falar de guerras e de tumultos, não vos assusteis; estas coisas devem suceder primeiro; mas não será logo o fim." | 9 When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end." |
| 10 Depois disse-lhes: "Levantar-se-á nação contra nação, reino contra reino. | 10 Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. |
| 11 Haverá grandes terremotos por várias partes, pestes e fomes; aparecerão coisas espantosas, e extraordinários sinais no céu. | 11 There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky. |
| 12 Mas antes de tudo isto, lançar-vos-ão as mãos, e vos perseguirão, entregando-vos nas sinagogas, nas prisões, e vos levarão à presença dos reis e dos governadores, por causa do meu nome. | 12 "Before all this happens, however, they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. |
| 13 Isto vos será ocasião de dardes testemunho. | 13 It will lead to your giving testimony. |
| 14 Gravai, pois, nos vossos corações o não premeditar como vos haveis de defender, | 14 Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, |
| 15 porque eu vos darei uma linguagem e uma sabedoria, à qual não poderão resistir, nem contradizer todos os vossos inimigos. | 15 for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. |
| 16 Sereis entregues por vossos pais, irmãos, parentes, e amigos e farão morrer muitos de vós; | 16 You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death. |
| 17 e sereis aborrecidos de todos por causa de meu nome; | 17 You will be hated by all because of my name, |
| 18 mas não se perderá um cabelo da vossa cabeça. | 18 but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. |
| 19 Pela vossa perseverança salvareis as vossas almas. | 19 By your perseverance you will secure your lives. |
| 20 Mas quando virdes que Jerusalém é sitiada por exércitos, então sabei que está próxima a sua desolação. | 20 "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that its desolation is at hand. |
| 21 Os que então estiverem na Judeia, fujam para os montes; os que estiverem no meio da cidade, retirem-se; os que estiverem nos campos, não entrem nela; | 21 Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. Let those within the city escape from it, and let those in the countryside not enter the city, |
| 22 porque estes são dias de vingança, para que se cumpram todas as coisas que estão escritas. | 22 for these days are the time of punishment when all the scriptures are fulfilled. |
| 23 Aí das mulheres grávidas, e das que amamentarem naqueles dias! porque haverá grande angústia sobre a terra, e ira contra este povo. | 23 Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for a terrible calamity will come upon the earth and a wrathful judgment upon this people. |
| 24 Cairão ao fio da espada, serão levados cativos a todas as nações, e Jerusalém será calcada pelos gentios, até se completarem os tempos dos gentios. | 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken as captives to all the Gentiles; and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. |
| 25 Haverá sinais no sol, na lua e nas estrelas. Na terra haverá consternação dos povos pela confusão do bramido do mar e das ondas, | 25 "There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. |
| 26 morrendo os homens de susto, na expectação do que virá sobre todo o mundo, porque as virtudes dos céus se abalarão. | 26 People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. |
| 27 Então verão o Filho do homem vir sobre uma nuvem com grande poder e majestade. | 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. |
| 28 Quando começarem, pois, a suceder estas coisas, erguei-vos, levantai as vossas cabeças, porque está próxima a vossa libertação. | 28 But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand." |
| 29 Acrescentou esta comparação: Vede a figueira e todas as árvores. | 29 He taught them a lesson. "Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. |
| 30 Quando começam a desabrochar, conheceis que está perto o estio. | 30 When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; |
| 31 Assim, também, quando virdes que acontecem estas coisas, sabei que está próximo o reino de Deus, | 31 in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. |
| 32 Em verdade vos digo que não passará esta geração, sem que todas estas coisas se cumpram. | 32 Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. |
| 33 Passará o céu e a terra, mas as minhas palavras não passarão. | 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. |
| 34 Velai, pois, sobre vós, para que não suceda que os vossos corações se tornem pesados com as demasias do comer e do beber, com os cuidados desta vida, e para que aquele dia vos não apanhe de improviso; | 34 "Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise |
| 35 porque ele virá como um laço sobre todos os que habitam sobre a face de toda a terra. | 35 like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. |
| 36 Vigiai, pois, orando sem cessar, a fim de que vos torneis dignos de evitar todos estes males que devem suceder, e de aparecer com confiança diante do Filho do homem." | 36 Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man." |
| 37 Jesus estava de dia ensinando no templo, mas ao anoitecer saía para passar a noite no monte, que se chamava das Oliveiras. | 37 During the day, Jesus was teaching in the temple area, but at night he would leave and stay at the place called the Mount of Olives. |
| 38 E todo o povo madrugava para ir ao templo ouvi-lo. | 38 And all the people would get up early each morning to listen to him in the temple area. |
