| 1 Depois Jesus disse a seus discípulos: "É impossível que não venham escândalos, porém, ai daquele por quem eles vêm ! | 1 He said to his disciples, "Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the person through whom they occur. |
| 2 Seria melhor para ele que lhe fosse posta ao pescoço a mó de um moinho, e que fosse precipitado no mar, do que ser causa de escândalo para um destes pequeninos. | 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. |
| 3 Estai com cuidado sobre vós. Se teu irmão pecar, repreende-o; e, se ele se arrepender, perdoa-lhe. | 3 Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. |
| 4 E, se pecar sete vezes no dia contra ti e sete vezes no dia for ter contigo, dizendo: Estou arrependido, perdoa-lhe." | 4 And if he wrongs you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times saying, 'I am sorry,' you should forgive him." |
| 5 Os apóstolos disseram ao Senhor: "Aumenta-nos a fé." | 5 And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." |
| 6 O Senhor disse-lhes: "Se tiverdes fé como um grão de mostarda, direis a esta amoreira: Arranca-te e transplanta-te para o mar, e ela vos obedecerá. | 6 The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to (this) mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you. |
| 7 Qual é de vós, tendo um servo a lavrar ou a guardar gado, lhe dirá quando ele voltar do campo: Vem depressa, põe-te à mesa? | 7 "Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, 'Come here immediately and take your place at table'? |
| 8 Não lhe dirá antes: Prepara-me a ceia, cinge-te, e serve-me, enquanto eu como e bebo; depois comerás tu e beberás? | 8 Would he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished'? |
| 9 Porventura, fica o senhor obrigado àquele servo, por ter feito o que lhe tinha mandado? | 9 Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? |
| 10 Assim também vós, depois de terdes feito tudo o que voe foi mandado, dizei: Somos servos inúteis; fizemos o que devíamos fazer." | 10 So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'" |
| 11 Indo Jesus para Jerusalém, passou pela Samaria e pela Galileia. | 11 As he continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. |
| 12 Ao entrar numa aldeia, saíram-lhe ao encontro dez homens leprosos, que pararam ao longe, | 12 As he was entering a village, ten lepers met (him). They stood at a distance from him |
| 13 e levantaram a voz, dizendo: "Jesus, Mestre, tem compaixão de nós." | 13 and raised their voice, saying, "Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!" |
| 14 Tendo-os ele visto, disse-lhes: "Ide, mostrai-vos aos sacerdotes." Aconteceu que, enquanto iam, ficaram limpos. | 14 And when he saw them, he said, "Go show yourselves to the priests." As they were going they were cleansed. |
| 15 Um deles, quando viu que tinha ficado limpo, voltou atrás, glorificando a Deus em alta voz, | 15 And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; |
| 16 e prostrou-se por terra a seus pés, dando-lhe graças. Era um samaritano. | 16 and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. |
| 17 Jesus disse: "Não são dez os que foram curados? Os outros nove onde estão? | 17 Jesus said in reply, "Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? |
| 18 Não se encontrou quem voltasse, e desse glória a Deus, senão este estrangeiro? | 18 Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?" |
| 19 Depois disse-lhe: Levanta-te, vai; a tua fé te salvou." | 19 Then he said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has saved you." |
| 20 Tendo-lhe os fariseus perguntado quando viria o reino de Deus, respondeu-lhes: " O reino de Deus não virá com aparato. | 20 Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he said in reply, "The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed, |
| 21 Não se dirá: Ei-lo aqui ou ei-lo acolá. Porque eis que o reino de Deus está no meio de vós." | 21 and no one will announce, 'Look, here it is,' or, 'There it is.' For behold, the kingdom of God is among you." |
| 22 Depois disse aos seus discípulos: "Virá tempo em que vós desejareis ver um só dos dias do Filho do homem, e não o vereis. | 22 Then he said to his disciples, "The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. |
| 23 E vos dirão: Ei-lo aqui, ou ei-lo acolá. Não vades, nem os sigais. | 23 There will be those who will say to you, 'Look, there he is,' (or) 'Look, here he is.' Do not go off, do not run in pursuit. |
| 24 Porque, assim como o clarão brilhante de um relâmpago ilumina o céu de uma extremidade à outra, assim será o Filho do homem no seu dia. | 24 For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be (in his day). |
| 25 Mas primeiro é necessário que ele sofra muito, e seja rejeitado por esta geração. | 25 But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation. |
| 26 Como sucedeu nos dias de Noé, assim sucederá também quando vier o Filho do homem. | 26 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man; |
| 27 Comiam, bebiam, tomavam mulher e marido, até ao dia em que Noé entrou na arca; e veio o dilúvio, que exterminou a todos. | 27 they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. |
| 28 Como sucedeu também no tempo de Lot; comiam, bebiam, compravam, vendiam, plantavam e edificavam; | 28 Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building; |
| 29 mas, no dia em que Lot saiu de Sodoma, choveu fogo e enxofre do céu, que exterminou a todos. | 29 on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all. |
| 30 Assim será no dia em que se manifestar o Filho do homem. | 30 So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed. |
| 31 Nesse dia quem estiver no terraço e tiver os seus móveis em casa, não desça a tomá-los; da mesma sorte, quem estiver no campo, não volte atrás. | 31 On that day, a person who is on the housetop and whose belongings are in the house must not go down to get them, and likewise a person in the field must not return to what was left behind. |
| 32 Lembrai-vos da mulher de Lot. | 32 Remember the wife of Lot. |
| 33 O que procurar salvar a sua vida, perdê-la-á; o que a perder, salvá-la-á. | 33 Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it. |
| 34 Eu vos digo: Nessa noite, de duas pessoas que estiverem num leito, uma será tomada, a outra deixada. | 34 I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. |
| 35 Duas mulheres estarão moendo juntas, uma será tomada, a outra deixada; | 35 And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left." |
| 36 dois estarão no campo, um será tomado, o outro deixado." | 36 |
| 37 Os discípulos disseram-lhe: "Onde será isso, Senhor?" | 37 They said to him in reply, "Where, Lord?" He said to them, "Where the body is, there also the vultures will gather." |
| 38 Ele respondeu-lhes: "Onde quer que estiver o corpo, juntar-se-ão aí também as águias." | |
