| 3 Porque olhas tu para a aresta que está no olho de teu irmão, e não notas a trave no teu olho? | 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? |
| 4 Como ousas dizer a teu irmão: Deixa-me tirar-te do olho uma aresta, tendo tu no teu uma trave? | 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? |
| 5 Hipócrita, tira primeiro a trave do teu olho, e então verás para tirar a aresta do olho de teu irmão. | 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. |
| 6 Não deis aos cães o que é santo, nem lanceis aos porcos as vossas pérolas, para que não suceda que eles as calquem com os seus pés, e que, voltando-se contra vós, vos dilacerem. | 6 "Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you. |
| 7 Pedi, e vos será dado; buscai, e achareis; batei, e abrir-se-vos-á. | 7 "Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. |
| 8 Porque todo o que pede, recebe o que busca, encontra, e a quem bate, abrir-se-á. | 8 For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. |
| 9 Qual de vós dará uma pedra a seu filho, quando este lhe pede pão? | 9 Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? |
| 10 Se lhe pedir um peixe, dar-lhe-á uma serpente? | 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? |
| 11 Se vós, pois, sendo maus, sabeis dar coisas boas a vossos filhos, quanto mais vosso Pai celeste dará coisas boas aos que lhas pedirem ! | 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! |
| 12 Tudo o que vós quereis que os homens vos façam, fazei-o também vós a eles; esta é a lei e os profetas. | 12 So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets. |
| 13 Entrai pela porta estreita, porque larga é a porta, e espaçoso o caminho que conduz à perdição, e muitos são os que entram por ela. | 13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. |
| 14 Que estreita é a porta, e que apertado o caminho que conduz à vida, e quão poucos são os que dão com ele ! | 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few. |
| 15 Guardai-vos dos falsos profetas, que vêm a vós com vestidos de ovelhas, mas por dentro são lobos rapaces. | 15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. |
| 16 Pelos seus frutos os conhecereis. Porventura colhem-se uvas dos espinhos, ou figos dos abrolhos? | 16 You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? |
| 17 Assim toda a árvore boa dá bons frutos, e toda a árvore má dá maus frutos. | 17 So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. |
| 18 Não pode uma árvore boa dar maus frutos, nem uma árvore má dar bons frutos. | 18 A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. |
| 19 Toda a árvore, que não dá bons frutos, será cortada e lançada ao fogo. | 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. |
| 20 Vós os conhecereis, pois, pelos seus frutos. | 20 Thus you will know them by their fruits. |
| 21 Nem todo o que me diz: Senhor, Senhor, entrará no reino dos céus, mas só o que faz a vontade de meu Pai, que está nos céus. | 21 "Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. |
| 22 Muitos me dirão naquele dia: Senhor, Senhor, não profetizamos nós em teu nome, e em teu nome expelimos os demônios, e em teu nome fizemos muitos milagres? | 22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' |
| 23 E então eu Ihes direi bem alto: Nunca vos conheci! Apartai-vos de mim, vós que obrais a iniquidade! | 23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.' |
| 24 Todo aquele, pois, que ouve estas minhas palavras, e as observa, será semelhante ao homem prudente que edificou a sua casa sobre rocha. | 24 "Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; |
| 25 Caiu a chuva, transbordaram os rios, sopraram os ventos, e investiram contra aquela casa, mas ela não caiu, porque estava fundada sobre rocha. | 25 and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. |
| 26 Todo o que ouve estas minhas palavras e não as pratica, será semelhante ao homem insensato, que edificou a sua casa sobre areia. | 26 And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; |
| 27 Caiu a chuva, transbordaram os rios, sopraram os ventos, e investiram contra aquela casa, e ela caiu, e foi grande a sua ruína." | 27 and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it." |
| 28 Quando Jesus acabou este discurso, estavam as multidões admiradas da sua doutrina, | 28 And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, |
| 29 porque os ensinava, como quem tinha autoridade, e não como os seus escribas. | 29 for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. |
