| 1 Visão de Abdias. Isto diz o Senhor Deus a Edom; Eis o que ouvimos do Senhor, que um mensageiro foi enviado a dizer às nações: Levantai-vos e partamos todos contra Edom, para o combater. | 1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord GOD concerning Edom: We have heard tidings from the LORD, and a messenger has been sent among the nations: "Rise up! let us rise against her for battle!" |
| 2 Tu vês (diz o Senhor a Edom) que te fiz pequenino entre as nações; és desprezível em extremo. | 2 Behold, I will make you small among the nations, you shall be utterly despised. |
| 3 A soberba do teu coração transviou-te, a ti que habitas nas fendas dos rochedos, que fazes das alturas a tua morada, que dizes dentro do teu coração: Quem me fará cair por terra? | 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, whose dwelling is high, who say in your heart, "Who will bring me down to the ground?" |
| 4 Ainda que te eleves, como a águia, e ponhas o teu ninho entre os astros, precipitar-te-ei de lá, diz o Senhor. | 4 Though you soar aloft like the eagle, though your nest is set among the stars, thence I will bring you down, says the LORD. |
| 5 Se ladrões entrassem em tua casa ou salteadores de noite, não se teriam contentado com roubar o preciso (deixando o resto)? Se viessem a ti vindimadores (à tua vinha), não deixariam nada de rebusco? | 5 If thieves came to you, if plunderers by night--how you have been destroyed!--would they not steal only enough for themselves? If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave gleanings? |
| 6 Como esquadrinharam a Esaú (ou os Idumeus), investigaram os seus esconderijos! | 6 How Esau has been pillaged, his treasures sought out! |
| 7 Expulsaram-te até à fronteira; todos os teus aliados zombaram de ti; os (que se diziam) teus amigos subjugaram-te; os que comiam o teu pão, armaram-te laços à falsa fé. Edom não tem inteligência! | 7 All your allies have deceived you, they have driven you to the border; your confederates have prevailed against you; your trusted friends have set a trap under you-- there is no understanding of it. |
| 8 Acaso naquele dia não farei desaparecer os sábios da Idumeia, diz o Senhor, e a inteligência do monte de Esaú? | 8 Will I not on that day, says the LORD, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of Mount Esau? |
| 9 Os teus valentes, ó Teman, serão tomados de medo, de maneira que morrerá todo o varão sobre o monte de Esaú. | 9 And your mighty men shall be dismayed, O Teman, so that every man from Mount Esau will be cut off by slaughter. |
| 10 Por causa da mortandade, da violência que cometeste contra e teu irmão Jacob, cobrir-te-á a confusão, e perecerás para sempre. | 10 For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off for ever. |
| 11 No dia em que, diante de ti (sem te importares com isso), bárbaros faziam prisioneiro o seu exército, em que estrangeiros entravam pelas suas portas e deitavam sortes sobre Jerusalém, tu também eras como um deles. | 11 On the day that you stood aloof, on the day that strangers carried off his wealth, and foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one of them. |
| 12 Não te deleites contemplando teu irmão, no dia do seu infortúnio; não te alegres sobre os filhos de Judá no dia da sua perdição; não te portes com insolência no dia da angústia. | 12 But you should not have gloated over the day of your brother in the day of his misfortune; you should not have rejoiced over the people of Judah in the day of their ruin; you should not have boasted in the day of distress. |
| 13 Não entres pelas portas (ou cidades) do meu povo no dia da sua ruína (para recolher despojos); não te alegres com os seus males no dia da sua desgraça; não deites a mão às suas riquezas, no dia da sua calamidade; | 13 You should not have entered the gate of my people in the day of his calamity; you should not have gloated over his disaster in the day of his calamity; you should not have looted his goods in the day of his calamity. |
| 14 não te ponhas nas encruzilhadas para matar os (Hebreus) que fugirem; não entregues os restos dos seus habitantes no dia da tribulação. | 14 You should not have stood at the parting of the ways to cut off his fugitives; you should not have delivered up his survivors in the day of distress. |
| 15 Porque o dia (do castigo) do Senhor está perto para todas as nações, far-se-á contigo como tu fizeste (com o meu povo): (Deus) fará cair sobre a tua cabeça as tuas obras. | 15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you, your deeds shall return on your own head. |
| 16 Assim como vós bebestes (sacrilegamente) sobre o meu santo monte, assim também beberão de continuo (do cálice da cólera divina) todas as (outras) nações (idólatras); beberão, sorverão, e virão a ser como se nunca tivessem sido. | 16 For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, all the nations round about shall drink; they shall drink, and stagger, and shall be as though they had not been. |
| 17 Mas sobre o monte de Sião haverá escapados, será (um lugar) santo e a casa de Jacob despojará aqueles que a despojaram. | 17 But in Mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions. |
| 18 A casa de Jacob será um fogo, a casa de José uma chama, e a casa de Esaú palha seca, a qual será abrasada e devorada por aquelas, sem ficar resto algum da casa de Esaú, porque o Senhor assim o disse. | 18 The house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau stubble; they shall burn them and consume them, and there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau; for the LORD has spoken. |
| 19 Os que habitam ao meio-dia ocuparão o monte (ou pais) de Esaú, e os que habitam na planície (tomarão) o país dos Filisteus; serão senhores do país de Efraim e do território de Samaria, e Benjamim possuirá Galaad. | 19 Those of the Negeb shall possess Mount Esau, and those of the Shephelah the land of the Philistines; they shall possess the land of Ephraim and the land of Samaria and Benjamin shall possess Gilead. |
| 20 Os dispersos (até então) do exército dos filhos de Israel ocuparão todas as terras dos Cananeus até Sarepta, e os deportados de Jerusalém, que estão em Sefarad, possuirão as cidades do meio-dia. | 20 The exiles in Halah who are of the people of Israel shall possess Phoenicia as far as Zarephath; and the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad shall possess the cities of the Negeb. |
| 21 Subirão salvadores ao monte de Sião para julgar o monte de Esaú, e o império pertencerá ao Senhor. | 21 Saviors shall go up to Mount Zion to rule Mount Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORDs. |
