| 1 Foi-me dirigida a palavra do Senhor, nestes termos: | 1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me: |
| 2 Filho de homem, volta o teu rosto para o monte de Seir e profetiza contra ele. Dize-lhe: | 2 Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it. |
| 3 Assim fala o Senhor Deus; Eis que venho contra ti, ó monte de Seir, estenderei a minha mão sobre ti e tornar-te-ei desolado e deserto. | 3 Say to it: Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at you, Mount Seir. I will stretch out my hand against you and make you a desolate waste. |
| 4 Reduzirei a ruínas as tuas cidades, ficarás devastado e saberás que eu sou o Senhor. | 4 Your cities I will turn into ruins, and you shall be a waste; thus you shall know that I am the LORD. |
| 5 Porque nutriste um ódio eterno aos filhos de Israel e os entregaste à espada no tempo da sua aflição, quando a sua iniquidade tinha chegado ao extremo, | 5 Because you never let die your hatred for the Israelites, whom you delivered over to the power of the sword at the time of their trouble, when their crimes came to an end, |
| 6 por isso (juro) pela minha vida. diz o Senhor Deus, que te entregarei ao sangue, e que o sangue te perseguirá; porque pecaste, derramando o sangue, o sangue te perseguirá. | 6 therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, you have been guilty of blood, and blood, I swear, shall pursue you. |
| 7 Tornarei o monte de Seir desolado e deserto, e desviarei dele todos os (transeuntes) que vão e vêm. | 7 I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste, and cut off from it any traveler. |
| 8 Encherei os seus montes de mortos: cairão passados à espada sobre os teus outeiros e nos teus vales e nas tuas torrentes. | 8 With the slain I will fill your hills, your valleys, and all your ravines (in them the slain shall fall by the sword): |
| 9 Reduzir-te-ei a solidões eternas: as tuas cidades não serão mais habitadas. Assim sabereis que eu sou o Senhor Deus. | 9 desolate will I make you forever, and leave your cities without inhabitants; thus you shall know that I am the LORD. |
| 10 Porque disseste: Duas nações e dois países serão meus eu os possuirei como minha herança quando o Senhor estava lá presente | 10 Because you said: The two nations and the two lands have become mine; we shall possess them--although the LORD was there-- |
| 11 por essa razão, juro, diz o Senhor Deus, que te hei-de tratar conforme a ira e o ciúme que sempre mostraste no teu ódio contra eles (os Israelitas) e que me farei conhecer por meio deles, quando te julgar. | 11 therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I will deal with you according to your anger and your envy which you have exercised (in your hatred) against them. I will make myself known among you when I judge you, |
| 12 Saberás que eu, o Senhor, ouvi todos os insultos que proferiste contra os montes de Israel, dizendo: São uns montes desertos, que nos foram dados para nós os devorarmos (como uma presa). | 12 and you shall know that I am the LORD. I have heard all the contemptuous things you have uttered against the mountains of Israel: "They are desolate, they have been given us to devour." |
| 13 Postes desbocados contra mim, multiplicastes contra mim as vossas palavras; eu as ouvi. | 13 I have heard the insolent and wild words you have spoken against me. |
| 14 Isto diz o Senhor Deus: Com júbilo de toda a terra, reduzir-te-ei a uma solidão. | 14 Thus says the Lord GOD: Just as you rejoiced over my land because it was desolate, so will I do to you. |
| 15 Assim como te regozijaste acerca da herança da casa de Israel, porque foi destruída, assim eu te tratarei a ti; serás arruinado, monte de Seir. bem como toda a Idumeia. Assim se saberá que eu sou o Senhor. | 15 In keeping with your glee over the devastation of the inheritance of the house of Israel, so will I treat you. A waste shall you be, Mount Seir, you and the whole of Edom. Thus they shall know that I am the LORD. |
