| 1 Foi dirigida a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, segunda vez, quando ainda estava recluso no átrio da guarda, nestes termos: | 1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, |
| 2 Assim fala o Senhor que fez a terra, que lhe deu forma e estabilidade - Iavé é o seu nome - | 2 Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; |
| 3 Invoca-me, e eu te atenderei e te anunciarei coisas grandes e ocultas, que ignoras. | 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. |
| 4 Porque isto diz o Senhor Deus de Israel com respeito às casas desta cidade e às casas do rei de Judá destruídas, e às fortificações, e à espada | 4 For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword; |
| 5 dos que vêm pelejar contra os Caldeus, e encher estas casas de cadáveres de homens, que eu feri no meu furor e na minha indignação, desviando a minha face desta cidade, por causa de toda a sua maldade. | 5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city. |
| 6 Eis que fecharei a sua chaga e a curarei, eis que lhes mostrarei a paz e a segurança. | 6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. |
| 7 Mudarei a sorte de Judá e de Jerusalém, restabelecê-los-ei como (eram) no princípio. | 7 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. |
| 8 Purifica-los-ei de todas as suas iniquidades, com que pecaram contra mim; perdoarei todas as suas maldades, com que me ofenderam e desprezaram. | 8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. |
| 9 E isto será para mim motivo de gozo, de louvor e de glória entre todas as nações da terra, quando ouvirem falar de todos os bens que lhes hei-de fazer; ficarão pasmados e se assombrarão de todos os bens e de toda a paz que lhes hei-de conceder. | 9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. |
| 10 Assim fala o Senhor: Neste lugar - que vós dizeis ser um deserto, sem homens nem animais - nas cidades de Judá, nas ruas de Jerusalém, que estão devastadas, sem homens e sem animais se hão-de ouvir ainda | 10 Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, |
| 11 gritos de gozo e de alegria, cantos de esposo e de esposa, vozes dos que dizem: Louvai o Senhor dos exércitos, porque o Senhor é bom, porque a sua graça é eterna - (ouvir-se-á) a voz dos que trazem suas oferendas à casa do Senhor. Com efeito quero restabelecer esta terra no seu anterior estado, diz o Senhor. | 11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD. |
| 12 Assim fala o Senhor dos exércitos: Neste lugar que está deserto, sem homens e sem animais, e em todas as suas cidades, há-de haver ainda abrigos de pastores, onde façam repousar os seus rebanhos. | 12 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. |
| 13 Nas cidades das montanhas, nas cidades das planícies, nas cidades que estão no meio-dia, na terra de Benjamim, nos arrabaldes de Jerusalém e nas cidades de Judá, ainda hão-de passar os rebanhos pela mão do (pastor) que os conte (ao entrar no redil), diz o Senhor. | 13 In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD. |
| 14 Aproximam-se os dias, diz o Senhor, em que eu cumprirei a palavra favorável que dei à casa de Israel e à casa de Judá. | 14 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. |
| 15 Nesses dias, nesse tempo, farei que saia de Davide um germen justo (o Messias), o qual praticará o direito e a justiça na terra. | 15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. |
| 16 Naqueles dias Judá será salvo, e Jerusalém habitará sem temor. Eis o nome que lhe será dado: Iavé nossa justiça. | 16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness. |
| 17 Porque isto diz o Senhor: Não faltará jamais um homem da linhagem de Davide que se sente sobre o trono da casa de Israel. | 17 For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; |
| 18 E da linhagem dos sacerdotes e dos levitas não faltará jamais um homem que ofereça holocaustos em minha presença, que acenda o fogo para queimar a oblação, que imole vítimas todos os dias. | 18 Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually. |
| 19 Depois foi dirigida a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, a qual dizia: | 19 And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying, |
| 20 Assim fala o Senhor: Se podeis quebrar a minha aliança com o dia e a minha aliança com a noite, de sorte que não haja dia nem noite a seu tempo, | 20 Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; |
| 21 também poderá ser quebrada a minha aliança com Davide, meu servo, de sorte que não haja mais dele um filho que reine no seu trono, e levitas e sacerdotes postos a meu serviço. | 21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers. |
| 22 Assim como as estrelas do céu não podem ser contadas, nem medida a areia do mar, assim multiplicarei a linhagem de Davide, meu servo, e os levitas, postos a meu serviço. | 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me. |
| 23 Foi dirigida a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, nestes termos: | 23 Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, |
| 24 Não tens reparado no que estas gentes dizem: As duas famílias que o Senhor tinha escolhido, foram rejeitadas! É assim que eles desprezam o meu povo, de forma que já o não consideram como uma nação. | 24 Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. |
| 25 Isto diz o Senhor: Se não fiz a minha aliança com o dia e com a noite, se não dei leis ao céu e à terra, | 25 Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; |
| 26 então também rejeitarei a linhagem de Jacob e de Davide, meu servo, para não tomar da sua geração chefes da estirpe de Abraão, de Isaac e de Jacob. Com efeito quero restabelecê-los e compadecer-me deles. | 26 Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them. |
