| 1 O que teme a Deus fará boas obras. e o que pratica a justiça possuirá a sabedoria; | 1 The man who fears the Lord will do this, and he who holds to the law will obtain wisdom. |
| 2 ela lhe sairá ao encontro, qual mãe honorificada, e o acolherá como uma esposa virgem | 2 She will come to meet him like a mother, and like the wife of his youth she will welcome him. |
| 3 Ela o sustentará do pão de vida e de inteligência, e lhe dará a beber da água da sabedoria salutar; e se fixará nele, e ele será constante. | 3 She will feed him with the bread of understanding, and give him the water of wisdom to drink. |
| 4 Será o seu sustentáculo para que não seja confundido, e o exaltará entre os seus próximos. | 4 He will lean on her and will not fall, and he will rely on her and will not be put to shame. |
| 5 Abrir-lhe-á a boca no meio da assembleia, enchê-lo-á de espírito de sabedoria e inteligência, e revesti-lo-á dum hábito de glória. | 5 She will exalt him above his neighbors, and will open his mouth in the midst of the assembly. |
| 6 Acumulará sobre ele um tesouro de regozijo e alegria, e lhe dará por herança um nome eterno. Os homens insensatos não a alcançarão, mas os homens de bom senso encontrar-se-ão com ela. Os insensatos não a verão, porque ela está longe da soberba e do engano. | 6 He will find gladness and a crown of rejoicing, and will acquire an everlasting name. |
| 7 Foolish men will not obtain her, and sinful men will not see her. |
| 8 Os homens mentirosos não se lembrarão dela, mas os homens sinceros achar-se-ão com ela, e caminharão felizmente até à (hora da) visita de Deus. | 8 She is far from men of pride, and liars will never think of her. |
| 9 O louvor não tem beleza na boca do pecador. | 9 A hymn of praise is not fitting on the lips of a sinner, for it has not been sent from the Lord. |
| 10 porque a sabedoria sai de Deus; o louvor de Deus acompanha a sabedoria, abunda na boca fiel; é o (soberano) Dominador que lho inspira. | 10 For a hymn of praise should be uttered in wisdom, and the Lord will prosper it. |
| 11 Não digas: Deus é causa de estar longe de mim (a sabedoria); não faças tu o que ele aborrece (e tê-la-ás). | 11 Do not say, "Because of the Lord I left the right way"; for he will not do what he hates. |
| 12 Não digas: Ele é que me transviou — porque não lhe são necessários os ímpios. | 12 Do not say, "It was he who led me astray"; for he had no need of a sinful man. |
| 13 O Senhor aborrece todas as abominações do erro, e não amam tais coisas os que o temem. | 13 The Lord hates all abominations, and they are not loved by those who fear him. |
| 14 Deus criou o homem desde o principio, e deixou-o na mão do seu conselho. | 14 It was he who created man in the beginning, and he left him in the power of his own inclination. |
| 15 Deu-lhe mais os seus mandamentos e os seus preceitos. | 15 If you will, you can keep the commandments, and to act faithfully is a matter of your own choice. |
| 16 Se quiseres observar os mandamentos e praticar sempre com fidelidade o que é agradável (a Deus), eles te guardarão. | 16 He has placed before you fire and water: stretch out your hand for whichever you wish. |
| 17 Ele pôs diante de ti a água e o fogo; lança a tua mão ao que quiseres. | 17 Before a man are life and death, and whichever he chooses will be given to him. |
| 18 Diante do homem estão a vida e a morte, o bem e o mal; o que lhe agradar, isso lhe será dado. | 18 For great is the wisdom of the Lord; he is mighty in power and sees everything; |
| 19 porque a sabedoria de Deus é grande, e ele é forte no seu poder, e está vendo todos sem cessar. | 19 his eyes are on those who fear him, and he knows every deed of man. |
| 20 Os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os que o temem, e ele mesmo conhece o proceder do homem. | 20 He has not commanded any one to be ungodly, and he has not given any one permission to sin. |
| 21 Ele a ninguém mandou obrar impiamente, a ninguém deu permissão de pecar; porque ele não deseja ter uma multidão | |
