| 1 Sobre a tarde chegaram os dois anjos a Sodoma, quando Loth estava assentado às portas da cidade. Ele, tendo-os visto. levantou-se, foi ao seu encontro, prostrou-se por terra, | 1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; |
| 2 e disse: vinde, vos peço, senhores, para casa de vosso servo, e ficai nela: lavareis os vossos pés e, pela manhã, continuareis o vosso caminho. Eles responderam: não, nós ficaremos na praça. | 2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. |
| 3 Loth instou com eles para que fossem para sua casa: depois que entraram, preparou-lhes um banquete, fez cozer uns pães ázimos, e eles comeram. | 3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat. |
| 4 Mas, antes que se fossem deitar, os homens da cidade, os homens de Sodoma, desde os meninos até aos velhos, todos, sem excepção, cercaram a casa. | 4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: |
| 5 Chamaram por Loth e disseram-lhe: onde estão aqueles homens que entraram em tua casa ao cair da noite? Faze-os sair para que os conheçamos. | 5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. |
| 6 Saiu Loth, fechando nas suas costas a porta, e disse-lhes: | 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, |
| 7 não queirais, vos rogo, meus irmãos, não queirais fazer este mal. | 7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. |
| 8 Tenho duas filhas, que ainda são virgens; eu vo-las trarei, e abusai delas como vos agradar, contando que não façais mal algum a estes homens, porque se acolheram à sombra do meu telhado. | 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. |
| 9 Eles, porém, disseram: retira-te para lá. E acrescentaram: tu entraste aqui como estrangeiro; será talvez para nos julgares? A ti, pois, trataremos pior do que a eles. E forçavam Loth com grande violência; e já estavam a ponto de arrombar a porta. | 9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. |
| 10 E eis que os (dois) homens (que estavam dentro) estenderam a mão, introduziram Loth em casa, e fecharam a porta. | 10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. |
| 11 E feriram de cegueira os que estavam fora, desde o mais pequeno até ao maior, de sorte que não podiam encontrar a porta. | 11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. |
| 12 E disseram a Loth: tens aqui alguim dos teus? genro ou filho, ou filhas, faze sair desta cidade todos os que te pertencem, | 12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: |
| 13 porque nós vamos destruir este, lugar, visto que o clamor (dos seus crimes) aumentou diante do Senhor, o qual nos enviou para que os exterminemos. | 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. |
| 14 Loth, pois, tendo saído falou a seus (futuros) genros, que estavam para casar com suas filhas, e disse: levantai-vos. Saí deste lugar, porque o Senhor destruirá esta cidade. E pareceu-lhes que (Loth) falava zombando. | 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. |
| 15 Ao amanhecer, instavam os anjos com Loth, dizendo: levanta-te, toma tua mulher e as duas filhas que tens, não suceda que também pereças na ruína da cidade. | 15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. |
| 16 Como ele hesitasse, pegaram pela mão a ele, a sua mulher e ás suas duas filhas, porque o Senhor queria salvá-lo, | 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. |
| 17 e o tiraram de casa, e o puseram fora da cidade. Uma vez fora, falaram, dizendo: salva a tua vida, não olhes para trás e não pareis em parte alguma dos arredores deste país; mas salva-te no monte, para que não pereças com os outros. | 17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. |
| 18 Loth disse-lhes: rogo-te, meu Senhor, | 18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: |
| 19 visto que o teu servo achou graça diante de ti, e usaste comigo da grande misericórdia de salvar a minha vida, (consideres) que eu me não posso salvar no monte, sem correr o perigo de ser apanhado pelo mal e morrer. | 19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: |
| 20 Eis que está perto uma cidade pequena, para a qual posso fugir, e salvar-me-ei nela. Não é ela pequena, e nela não estará segura a minha vida? | 20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. |
| 21 E o Senhor disse-lhe: ainda nisto eu ouvi os teus rogos, para não destruir a cidade a favor da qual me falaste. | 21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken. |
| 22 Apressa-te e salva-te lá, porque não poderei fazer nada, enquanto tu lá não tiveres entrado. Por isso puseram àquela cidade o nome de Segor. | 22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. |
| 23 O sol levantava-se sobre a terra, quando Loth entrou em Segor. | 23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. |
| 24 Fez, pois, o Senhor da parte do Senhor chover sobre Sodoma e Gomorra enxofre e fogo (vindo) do céu. | 24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; |
| 25 e destruiu estas cidades, todo o pais em roda, todos os habitantes das cidades e toda a verdura da terra. | 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. |
| 26 A mulher de Loth, tendo olhado para trás, ficou convertida numa estátua de sal. | 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. |
| 27 Ora Abraão, tendo-se levantado de manhã, foi ao lugar onde antes tinha estado com o Senhor, | 27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD: |
| 28 e olhou para Sodoma e Gomorra, e para toda a terra daquela região, e viu que se elevavam da terra cinzas infamadas, como o fumo duma fornalha. | 28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace. |
| 29 Quando destruía as cidades daquela região, lembrou-se de Abraão e livrou Loth da ruína destas cidades, em que tinha habitado. | 29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt. |
| 30 Loth partiu de Segor e retirou-se para o monte com suas duas filhas (porque temia ficar em Segor), e habitou em uma caverna com as suas duas filhas. | 30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. |
| 31 A mais velha disse à mais nova: nosso pai está velho, e na terra não ficou homem algum com quem nos possamos casar, segundo o costume de todos os países. | 31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: |
| 32 Vem, embriaguêmo-lo com vinho, e durmamos com ele, para que possamos conservar a linhagem de nosso pai. | 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. |
| 33 Deram, pois, a beber vinho a seu pai naquela noite, e a mais velha entrou e dormiu com o pai: ele, porém, não sentiu nem quando ela se deitou, nem quando se levantou. | 33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. |
| 34 No dia seguinte disse a mais velha para a mais nova: eis que leu ontem dormi com meu pai: demos-lhe também esta noite a beber vinho e dormirás tu com ele, para salvarmos a linhagem de nosso pai. | 34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our Father. |
| 35 Também, naquela noite deram a beber vinho a seu pai, e a filha mais nova entrou e dormiu com ele: nem então ele sentiu quando ela se deitou, nem quando se levantou. | 35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. |
| 36 E as duas filhas de Loth conceberam de teu pai. | 36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. |
| 37 A mais velha deu à luz um filho e pôs-lhe o nome de Moab: este é o pai dos moabitas (que existem) até ao dia de hoje. | 37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day. |
| 38 A mais nova também deu à luz um filho e pôs-lhe o nome de Amon, que quer dizer filho do meu povo: este é o pai dos amonitas, (que existem) até ao dia de hoje. | 38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day. |
