Zachariæ 8

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Et factum est verbum Domini exercituum, dicens :	1 The word of Yahweh Sabaoth came as fol ows:
2 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Zelatus sum Sion zelo magno, et indignatione magna zelatus sum eam.	2 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I have been burning with jealousy for Zion, with furious jealousy for hersake.
3 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Reversus sum ad Sion, et habitabo in medio Jerusalem : et vocabitur Jerusalem civitas veritatis, et mons Domini exercituum mons sanctificatus.	3 Yahweh says this: I am coming back to Zion and shal live in the heart of Jerusalem. Jerusalem wil becal ed Faithful City and the mountain of Yahweh Sabaoth, the Holy Mountain.
4 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Adhuc habitabunt senes et anus in plateis Jerusalem, et viri baculus in manu ejus præ multitudine dierum.	4 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Aged men and women once again wil sit in the squares of Jerusalem, eachwith a stick to lean on because of their great age.
5 Et plateæ civitatis complebuntur infantibus et puellis, ludentibus in plateis ejus.	5 And the squares of the city wil be full of boys and girls playing there.
6 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Si videbitur difficile in oculis reliquiarum populi hujus in diebus illis, numquid in oculis meis difficile erit ? dicit Dominus exercituum.	6 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: If this seems a miracle to the remnant of this people (in those days), wil itseem one to me? declares Yahweh.
7 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Ecce ego salvabo populum meum de terra orientis et de terra occasus solis.	7 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, I shal rescue my people from the countries of the east and from thecountries of the west.
8 Et adducam eos, et habitabunt in medio Jerusalem : et erunt mihi in populum, et ego ero eis in Deum, in veritate et in justitia.	8 I shal bring them back to live in the heart of Jerusalem, and they will be my people and I shal be theirGod, faithful and just.
9 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Confortentur manus vestræ, qui auditis in his diebus sermones istos per os prophetarum, in die qua fundata est domus Domini exercituum, ut templum ædificaretur.	9 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Take heart, you who today hear these promises uttered by the prophetssince the day when the foundations of the Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth were laid, that the sanctuary wouldindeed be rebuilt.
10 Siquidem ante dies illos merces hominum non erat, nec merces jumentorum erat : neque introëunti, neque exeunti erat pax præ tribulatione : et dimisi omnes homines, unumquemque contra proximum suum.	10 For up to now, men were not paid their wages and nothing was paid for the animals either; and it hasnot been safe for anyone to come and go, because of the enemy, since I had set each one against everyoneelse.
11 Nunc autem non juxta dies priores ego faciam reliquiis populi hujus, dicit Dominus exercituum,	11 But from now on, I shal not treat the remnant of this people as I have treated them in time past --declares Yahweh Sabaoth.
12 sed semen pacis erit : vinea dabit fructum suum, et terra dabit germen suum, et cæli dabunt rorem suum : et possidere faciam reliquias populi hujus universa hæc.	12 Now they wil sow in peace; the vine will give its fruit, the soil wil give its produce and heaven will giveits dew. I shal bestow al these on the remnant of this people.
13 Et erit : sicut eratis maledictio in gentibus, domus Juda et domus Israël, sic salvabo vos, et eritis benedictio. Nolite timere ; confortentur manus vestræ.	13 Just as once you were a curse among the nations, House of Judah and House of Israel, so now I shalsave you, and you wil be a blessing. Do not be afraid. Take heart!"
14 Quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Sicut cogitavi ut affligerem vos, cum ad iracundiam provocassent patres vestri me, dicit Dominus,	14 'For Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Just as I resolved to ill-treat you when your ancestors provoked me toanger and did not relent -- says Yahweh Sabaoth-
15 et non sum misertus : sic conversus cogitavi, in diebus istis, ut benefaciam domui Juda et Jerusalem. Nolite timere.	15 so now I have changed my mind and intend to treat Jerusalem and the House of Judah well. Do not beafraid!
16 Hæc sunt ergo verba quæ facietis : loquimini veritatem unusquisque cum proximo suo : veritatem et judicium pacis judicate in portis vestris.	16 "These are the things that you must do. Speak the truth to one another; at your gates, administer fairjudgement conducive to peace;
17 Et unusquisque malum contra amicum suum ne cogitetis in cordibus vestris, et juramentum mendax ne diligatis : omnia enim hæc sunt quæ odi, dicit Dominus.	17 do not secretly plot evil against one another; do not love perjury; since I hate al this -- Yahwehdeclares." '
18 Et factum est verbum Domini exercituum ad me, dicens :	18 The word of Yahweh Sabaoth was addressed to me as fol ows:
19 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Jejunium quarti, et jejunium quinti, et jejunium septimi, et jejunium decimi erit domui Juda in gaudium et lætitiam et in solemnitates præclaras. Veritatem tantum et pacem diligite.	19 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventhand the fast of the tenth are to become glad, joyful, happy festivals for the House of Judah. So love truth andpeace!" '
20 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, usquequo veniant populi et habitent in civitatibus multis :	20 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "In the future, peoples and citizens of many cities wil come;
21 et vadant habitatores, unus ad alterum, dicentes : Eamus, et deprecemur faciem Domini, et quæramus Dominum exercituum : vadam etiam ego.	21 and citizens of one city wil go to the next and say: We must certainly go to entreat Yahweh's favourand seek out Yahweh Sabaoth; I am going myself.
22 Et venient populi multi, et gentes robustæ, ad quærendum Dominum exercituum in Jerusalem, et deprecandam faciem Domini.	22 Yes, many peoples and great nations will seek out Yahweh Sabaoth in Jerusalem and entreatYahweh's favour."
23 Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : In diebus illis, in quibus apprehendent decem homines ex omnibus linguis gentium, et apprehendent fimbriam viri Judæi, dicentes : Ibimus vobiscum : audivimus enim quoniam Deus vobiscum est.	23 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "In those days, ten men from nations of every language will take a Jew bythe sleeve and say: We want to go with you, since we have learnt that God is with you." '
