1 في البدء كان الكلمة والكلمة كان عند الله وكان الكلمة الله.	1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 هذا كان في البدء عند الله.	2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 كل شيء به كان وبغيره لم يكن شيء مما كان.	3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be
4 فيه كانت الحياة والحياة كانت نور الناس.	4 through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;
5 والنور يضيء في الظلمة والظلمة لم تدركه	5 the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 كان انسان مرسل من الله اسمه يوحنا.	6 A man named John was sent from God.
7 هذا جاء للشهادة ليشهد للنور لكي يؤمن الكل بواسطته.	7 He came for testimony, to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.
8 لم يكن هو النور بل ليشهد للنور.	8 He was not the light, but came to testify to the light.
9 كان النور الحقيقي الذي ينير كل انسان آتيا الى العالم.	9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
10 كان في العالم وكوّن العالم به ولم يعرفه العالم.	10 He was in the world, and the world came to be through him, but the world did not know him.
11 الى خاصته جاء وخاصته لم تقبله.	11 He came to what was his own, but his own people did not accept him.
12 واما كل الذين قبلوه فاعطاهم سلطانا ان يصيروا اولاد الله اي المؤمنون باسمه.	12 But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name,
13 الذين ولدوا ليس من دم ولا من مشيئة جسد ولا من مشيئة رجل بل من الله	13 who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man's decision but of God.
14 والكلمة صار جسدا وحلّ بيننا ورأينا مجده مجدا كما لوحيد من الآب مملوءا نعمة وحقا.	14 And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth.
15 يوحنا شهد له ونادى قائلا هذا هو الذي قلت عنه ان الذي يأتي بعدي صار قدامي لانه كان قبلي.	15 John testified to him and cried out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.'"
16 ومن ملئه نحن جميعا اخذنا. ونعمة فوق نعمة.	16 From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace,
17 لان الناموس بموسى اعطي. اما النعمة والحق فبيسوع المسيح صارا.	17 because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
18 الله لم يره احد قط. الابن الوحيد الذي هو في حضن الآب هو خبّر	18 No one has ever seen God. The only Son, God, who is at the Father's side, has revealed him.
19 وهذه هي شهادة يوحنا حين ارسل اليهود من اورشليم كهنة ولاويين ليسألوه من انت.	19 And this is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites (to him) to ask him, "Who are you?"
20 فاعترف ولم ينكر واقرّ اني لست انا المسيح.	20 he admitted and did not deny it, but admitted, "I am not the Messiah."
21 فسألوه اذا ماذا. ايليا انت. فقال لست انا. النبي انت. فاجاب لا.	21 So they asked him, "What are you then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No."
22 فقالوا له من انت لنعطي جوابا للذين ارسلونا. ماذا تقول عن نفسك.	22 So they said to him, "Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you have to say for yourself?"
23 قال انا صوت صارخ في البرية قوّموا طريق الرب كما قال اشعياء النبي.	23 He said: "I am 'the voice of one crying out in the desert, "Make straight the way of the Lord,"' as Isaiah the prophet said."
24 وكان المرسلون من الفريسيين.	24 Some Pharisees were also sent.
25 فسألوه وقالوا له فما بالك تعمّد ان كنت لست المسيح ولا ايليا ولا النبي.	25 They asked him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet?"
26 اجابهم يوحنا قائلا انا اعمد بماء. ولكن في وسطكم قائم الذي لستم تعرفونه.	26 John answered them, "I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not recognize,
27 هو الذي يأتي بعدي الذي صار قدامي الذي لست بمستحق ان احل سيور حذائه.	27 the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie."
28 هذا كان في بيت عبرة في عبر الاردن حيث كان يوحنا يعمد	28 This happened in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29 وفي الغد نظر يوحنا يسوع مقبلا اليه فقال هوذا حمل الله الذي يرفع خطية العالم.	29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
30 هذا هو الذي قلت عنه يأتي بعدي رجل صار قدامي لانه كان قبلي.	30 He is the one of whom I said, 'A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.'
31 وانا لم اكن اعرفه. لكن ليظهر لاسرائيل لذلك جئت اعمد بالماء.	31 I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing with water was that he might be made known to Israel."
32 وشهد يوحنا قائلا اني قد رأيت الروح نازلا مثل حمامة من السماء فاستقر عليه.	32 John testified further, saying, "I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him.
33 وانا لم اكن اعرفه. لكن الذي ارسلني لاعمد بالماء ذاك قال لي الذي ترى الروح نازلا ومستقرا عليه فهذا هو الذي يعمد بالروح القدس.	33 I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the holy Spirit.'
34 وانا قد رأيت وشهدت ان هذا هو ابن الله	34 Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God."
35 وفي الغد ايضا كان يوحنا واقفا هو واثنان من تلاميذه.	35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples,
36 فنظر الى يسوع ماشيا فقال هوذا حمل الله.	36 and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, "Behold, the Lamb of God."
37 فسمعه التلميذان يتكلم فتبعا يسوع.	37 The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
38 فالتفت يسوع ونظرهما يتبعان فقال لهما ماذا تطلبان. فقالا ربي الذي تفسيره يا معلّم اين تمكث.	38 Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which translated means Teacher), "where are you staying?"
39 فقال لهما تعاليا وانظرا. فأتيا ونظرا اين كان يمكث ومكثا عنده ذلك اليوم. وكان نحو الساعة العاشرة.	39 He said to them,"Come, and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon.
40 كان اندراوس اخو سمعان بطرس واحدا من الاثنين اللذين سمعا يوحنا وتبعاه.	40 Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
41 هذا وجد اولا اخاه سمعان فقال له قد وجدنا مسيا. الذي تفسيره المسيح.	41 He first found his own brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated Anointed).
42 فجاء به الى يسوع. فنظر اليه يسوع وقال انت سمعان بن يونا. انت تدعى صفا الذي تفسيره بطرس	42 Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Kephas" (which is translated Peter).
43 في الغد اراد يسوع ان يخرج الى الجليل. فوجد فيلبس فقال له اتبعني.	43 The next day he decided to go to Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, "Follow me."
44 وكان فيلبس من بيت صيدا من مدينة اندراوس وبطرس.	44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the town of Andrew and Peter.
45 فيلبس وجد نثنائيل وقال له وجدنا الذي كتب عنه موسى في الناموس والانبياء يسوع ابن يوسف الذي من الناصرة.	45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth."
46 فقال له نثنائيل أمن الناصرة يمكن ان يكون شيء صالح. قال له فيلبس تعال وانظر	46 But Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."
47 ورأى يسوع نثنائيل مقبلا اليه فقال عنه هوذا اسرائيلي حقا لا غش فيه.	47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, "Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him."
48 قال له نثنائيل من اين تعرفني. اجاب يسوع وقال له. قبل ان دعاك فيلبس وانت تحت التينة رأيتك.	48 Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree."
49 اجاب نثنائيل وقال له يا معلّم انت ابن الله. انت ملك اسرائيل.	49 Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."
50 اجاب يسوع وقال له هل آمنت لاني قلت لك اني رأيتك تحت التينة. سوف ترى اعظم من هذا.	50 Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this."
51 وقال له الحق الحق اقول لكم من الآن ترون السماء مفتوحة وملائكة الله يصعدون وينزلون على ابن الانسان	51 And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
