1 Por isto se espantou o meu coração, e pulou fora de seu lugar.	1 At this my heart trembles and leaps out of its place,
2 Escutai, escutai o brado de sua voz, o estrondo que lhe sai da boca!	2 To hear his angry voice as it rumbles forth from his mouth!
3 Enche dele toda a extensão dos céus, e seus relâmpagos vão atingir os confins da terra.	3 Everywhere under the heavens he sends it, with his lightning, to the ends of the earth.
4 Logo depois ruge uma voz, troveja com sua voz majestosa. Não retém mais seus raios quando se faz ouvir.	4 Again his voice roars-- the majestic sound of his thunder.
5 Deus troveja com uma voz maravilhosa, faz prodígios que nos são incompreensíveis.	5 He does great things beyond our knowing; wonders past our searching out.
6 Diz à neve: Cai sobre a terra, às pancadas de chuva: Sede fortes.	6 For he says to the snow, "Fall to the earth"; likewise to his heavy, drenching rain.
7 Ele põe selos sobre as mãos dos homens, a fim de que todos os mortais reconheçam seu criador.	7 He shuts up all mankind indoors;
8 A fera também entra em seu covil, e encolhe-se em sua toca.	8 the wild beasts take to cover and remain quietly in their dens.
9 O furacão sai da câmara do sul, e do norte chega o frio.	9 Out of its chamber comes forth the tempest; from the north winds, the cold.
10 Ao sopro de Deus forma-se a neve, e a superfície das águas se endurece.	10 With his breath God brings the frost, and the broad waters become congealed.
11 Carrega as nuvens de vapor, as nuvens lançam por toda parte seus relâmpagos	11 With hail, also, the clouds are laden, as they scatter their flashes of light.
12 que vão em todos os sentidos sob sua direção, para realizar tudo quanto ele ordena na face da terra.	12 He it is who changes their rounds, according to his plans, in their task upon the surface of the earth,
13 Ora é o castigo que eles trazem, ora seus benefícios.	13 whether for punishment or mercy, as he commands.
14 Escuta isto, Jó, pára e considera as maravilhas de Deus.	14 Hearken to this, O Job! Stand and consider the wondrous works of God!
15 Sabes como ele as opera, e faz brilhar o relâmpago de sua nuvem?	15 Do you know how God lays his commands upon them, and makes the light shine forth from his clouds?
16 Sabes a lei do equilíbrio das nuvens, e o milagre daquele cuja ciência é infinita?	16 Do you know how the clouds are banked, the wondrous work of him who is perfect in knowledge?
17 Por que são quentes as tuas vestes, quando repousa a terra ao sopro do meio-dia?	17 You, whom the streams of water fail when a calm from the south comes over the land,
18 Saberás, como ele, estender as nuvens, e torná-las sólidas como um espelho de metal fundido?	18 Do you spread out with him the firmament of the skies, hard as a brazen mirror?
19 Dá-me a conhecer o que lhe diremos. Mergulhados em nossas trevas, só sabemos objetar.	19 Teach us then what we shall say to him; we cannot, for the darkness, make our plea.
20 Quem lhe repetirá o que digo? Acaso pedirá um homem a sua própria perdição?	20 Will he be told about it when I speak, or when a man says he is being destroyed?
21 Agora já não se vê a luz, o sol brilha através das nuvens; passe um golpe de vento, e ele as varrerá;	21 Nay, rather, it is as the light which men see not while it is obscured among the clouds, till the wind comes by and sweeps the clouds away.
22 a luz vem do norte. Deus está envolto numa majestade temível;	22 From the North the splendor comes, surrounding God's awesome majesty!
23 não podemos atingir o Todo-poderoso: eminente em força, em eqüidade, em justiça, não tem a dar contas a ninguém.	23 The Almighty! we cannot discover him, pre-eminent in power and judgment; his great justice owes no one an accounting.
24 Que os homens, pois, o reverenciem! Ele não olha aqueles que se julgam sábios.	24 Therefore men revere him, though none can see him, however wise their hearts.
