1 Si riunì quindi tutta la comunità dei figli d'Israele in Silo, dove eressero la tenda del convegno. La terra che stava dinanzi a loro era stata sottomessa.	1 After they had subdued the land, the whole community of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh, where they set up the meeting tent.
2 Erano però rimaste, tra i figli d'Israele, sette tribù che non avevano ricevuto la loro porzione.	2 Seven tribes among the Israelites had not yet received their heritage.
3 Disse perciò Giosuè ai figli d'Israele: "Fino a quando sarete voi così negligenti nell'andare ad occupare la terra che il Signore, Dio dei padri vostri, vi ha dato?	3 Joshua therefore said to the Israelites, "How much longer will you put off taking steps to possess the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?
4 Sceglietevi tre uomini per tribù e io li invierò a esplorare e descrivere il paese in vista della spartizione e poi torneranno da me.	4 Choose three men from each of your tribes; I will commission them to begin a survey of the land, which they shall describe for purposes of inheritance. When they return to me
5 Lo divideranno in sette parti; Giuda resterà nella sua porzione a sud e quelli della casa di Giuseppe resteranno nei loro confini a nord.	5 you shall divide it into seven parts. Judah is to retain its territory in the south, and the house of Joseph its territory in the north.
6 Voi farete la descrizione del paese in sette parti e me la porterete qui, in modo che io possa tirarvele a sorte, qui davanti al Signore, nostro Dio.	6 You shall bring here to me the description of the land in seven sections. I will then cast lots for you here before the LORD, our God.
7 I leviti infatti non devono avere parti in mezzo a voi, essendo il sacerdozio del Signore la loro eredità; e Gad e Ruben e metà della tribù di Manasse hanno avuto la loro porzione al di là del Giordano ad oriente, data loro da Mosè, servo del Signore".	7 For the Levites have no share among you, because the priesthood of the LORD is their heritage; while Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have already received the heritage east of the Jordan which Moses, the servant of the LORD, gave them."
8 Si levarono allora e partirono quegli uomini, dopo che Giosuè aveva dato quest'ordine agli esploratori per la descrizione del paese: "Andate e percorrete la terra, descrivetela e poi tornate da me e qui io ve la sorteggerò davanti al Signore, in Silo".	8 When those who were to map out the land were ready for the journey, Joshua instructed them to survey the land, prepare a description of it, and return to him; then he would cast lots for them there before the LORD in Shiloh.
9 Quegli uomini andarono, attraversarono la regione e ne descrissero in un libro le città in sette suddivisioni. Poi ritornarono da Giosuè nell'accampamento di Silo.	9 So they went through the land, listed its cities in writing in seven sections, and returned to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh.
10 Giosuè tirò per essi le sorti in Silo davanti al Signore e ivi distribuì la terra ai figli d'Israele, secondo le loro divisioni.	10 Joshua then divided up the land for the Israelites into their separate shares, casting lots for them before the LORD in Shiloh.
11 Fu fatto il sorteggio per la tribù dei figli di Beniamino secondo le loro famiglie: il confine delle parti loro sorteggiate fu tra i figli di Giuda e i figli di Giuseppe.	11 One lot fell to the clans of the tribe of Benjaminites. The territory allotted them lay between the descendants of Judah and those of Joseph.
12 Il loro confine dal lato settentrionale partiva dal Giordano, saliva per il pendio settentrionale di Gerico, saliva sulla montagna verso ovest e terminava al deserto di Bet-Aven.	12 Their northern boundary began at the Jordan and went over the northern flank of Jericho, up westward into the mountains, till it reached the desert of Beth-aven.
13 Di lì il confine passava a Luza, sul pendio di Luza a sud, che oggi è Betel; poi scendeva ad Atarot-Addar, sul monte che sta a sud di Bet-Oron inferiore.	13 From there it crossed over to the southern flank of Luz (that is, Bethel). Then it ran down to Ataroth-addar, on the mountaintop south of Lower Beth-horon.
14 Poi il confine piegava, girando sul lato occidentale, verso sud, dal monte che è dinanzi a Bet-Oron, verso sud, per terminare a Kiriat-Iearim, città dei figli di Giuda. Questo il lato ovest.	14 For the western border, the boundary line swung south from the mountaintop opposite Bethhoron till it reached Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), which city belonged to the Judahites. This was the western boundary.
15 Il lato sud partiva dall'estremità di Kiriat-Iearim e, continuando il confine ovest, terminava alla sorgente di Neftoach;	15 The southern boundary began at the limits of Kiriath-jearim and projected to the spring at Nephtoah.
16 poi il limite scendeva all'estremità del monte che è dinanzi alla valle di Ben-Innom, che è nella valle dei Refaim, dal lato nord, e discendeva per la valle di Innom, sul pendio meridionale dei Gebusei, fino a En-Roghel;	16 It went down to the edge of the mountain on the north of the Valley of Rephaim, where it faces the Valley of Ben-hinnom; and continuing down the Valley of Hinnom along the southern flank of the Jebusites, reached En-rogel.
17 piegava poi a nord per uscire ad En-Semes e usciva nelle curve che sono davanti alla salita di Adummim, per discendere al sasso di Bocan, figlio di Ruben.	17 Inclining to the north, it extended to En-shemesh, and thence to Geliloth, opposite the pass of Adummim. Then it dropped to Eben-Bohan-ben-Reuben,
18 Passava sulle pendici di fronte all'Araba a nord e discendeva verso l'Araba.	18 across the northern flank of the Arabah overlook, down into the Aarabah.
19 Poi il confine continuava sul fianco nord di Bet-Cogla e terminava sulla baia del Mar Morto a nord, all'estremità meridionale del Giordano: questo era il confine meridionale.	19 From there the boundary continued across the northern flank of Beth-hoglah and extended to the northern tip of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. This was the southern boundary.
20 Il Giordano era il suo confine dalla parte orientale. Questa era l'eredità dei figli di Beniamino, con i propri confini tutt'intorno, secondo le loro famiglie.	20 The Jordan bounded it on the east. This was how the heritage of the clans of the Benjaminites was bounded on all sides.

25 Gabaon, Rama, Beerot,	25 Also Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,
26 Mizpe, Chefira, Mosa,	26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah,
27 Rekem, Irpeel, Tareala,	27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,
28 Zela-Elef, Iebus, cioè Gerusalemme, Gabaa, Kiriat-Iearim: quattordici città e i loro villaggi. Questa fu la parte sorteggiata per la tribù di Beniamino secondo le loro famiglie.	28 Zela, Haeleph, the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah and Kiriath; fourteen cities and their villages. This was the heritage of the clans of Benjaminites.
