Deuteronomio 10

1 In quel tempo il Signore mi disse: "Taglia due tavole di pietra come le prime e sali da me sul monte; costruisci anche un'arca di legno.	1 At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
2 Scriverò sulle tavole le parole che si trovavano sulle prime tavole che tu hai spezzato e tu le metterai nell'arca".	2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
3 Feci dunque un'arca di legno di acacia, tagliai le due tavole di pietra come le prime e salii sul monte con le due tavole in mano.	3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
4 Il Signore scrisse sulle tavole com'era scritto prima, le dieci parole che vi aveva detto sul monte, in mezzo al fuoco, nel giorno dell'assemblea, e me le consegnò.	4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
5 Io mi voltai, discesi dal monte e collocai le tavole nell'arca che avevo fatto: qui esse restarono come mi aveva ordinato il Signore.	5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.
6 I figli di Israele partirono dai pozzi dei figli di Iaakan per Mosera; qui Aronne morì e fu sepolto; divenne sacerdote Eleazaro suo figlio al suo posto.	6 And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.
7 Di là partirono per Gudgoda, e da Gudgoda per Iotbata, terra dai torrenti d'acqua.	7 From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.
8 In quel tempo il Signore destinò la tribù di Levi a portare l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, a stare dinanzi a lui, a servirlo e a benedire nel suo nome, com'è ancora oggi.	8 At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
9 Perciò Levi non ha parte né eredità con i fratelli: il Signore è la sua eredità, come gli aveva detto il Signore tuo Dio.	9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.
10 Io rimasi sul monte come la prima volta quaranta giorni e quaranta notti. Il Signore mi ascoltò anche questa volta e non ti distrusse.	10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.
11 Il Signore mi disse: "Alzati, va' a metterti alla testa di questo popolo, perché vadano a conquistare la terra che ho giurato ai loro padri di dare loro".	11 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.
12 Ora, o Israele, che cosa chiede a te il Signore tuo Dio se non di temere il Signore tuo Dio, di seguire tutte le sue vie, di amarlo, di servire il Signore tuo Dio con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta la tua anima,	12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
13 di osservare i precetti del Signore e le prescrizioni che oggi ti ordino per il tuo bene?	13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
14 Ecco, il cielo e i cieli dei cieli, la terra e quanto è in essa appartengono al Signore tuo Dio;	14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
15 tuttavia il Signore si è unito ai tuoi padri per amor loro e ha scelto fra tutti i popoli la loro discendenza dopo di loro, cioè voi, com'è ancora oggi.	15 Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.
16 Circoncidete il vostro cuore e non gonfiate più il vostro collo,	16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
17 perché il Signore vostro Dio, lui è il Dio degli dèi, il Signore dei signori, il Dio grande, forte e terribile che non fa preferenza di persona né prende regali,	17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
18 che fa giustizia all'orfano e alla vedova, ama il forestiero e gli dà pane e vestito.	18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.
19 Amate dunque il forestiero, perché anche voi siete stati forestieri nella terra d'Egitto.	19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
20 Temerai il Signore tuo Dio, lui servirai, ti legherai a lui e nel suo nome giurerai.	20 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.
21 Egli è la tua lode, Egli è il tuo Dio, che ha compiuto con te quelle cose grandi e terribili che videro i tuoi occhi.	21 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
22 In settanta persone sono discesi i tuoi padri in Egitto, e ora il Signore tuo Dio ti ha reso numeroso come le stelle del cielo.	22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
