1 Queste sono le generazioni di Aronne e Mosè, nel giorno in cui il Signore parlò a Mosè sul monte Sinai.	1 These were the descendants of Aaron and Moses, at the time when Yahweh spoke to Moses onMount Sinai.
2 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Aronne: Nadab, il primogenito, Abiu, Eleazaro e Itamar.	2 These were the names of Aaron's sons: Nadab the eldest, then Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
3 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Aronne, unti sacerdoti, le cui mani erano state riempite per il sacerdozio.	3 Such were the names of Aaron's sons, priests anointed and invested with the powers of thepriesthood.

5 Il Signore disse a Mosè:	5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
6 "Fa' avvicinare la tribù di Levi: la farai stare davanti ad Aronne, sacerdote, perché lo serva.	6 'Muster the tribe of Levi and put it at the disposal of the priest Aaron: they must be at his service.
7 Custodiranno il suo servizio e il servizio di tutta la comunità davanti alla tenda del convegno, per fare il lavoro della dimora.	7 They wil undertake the duties incumbent on him and the whole community before the Tent of Meeting,in serving the Dwel ing,
8 Custodiranno tutti gli arredi della tenda del convegno e il servizio dei figli d'Israele per fare il lavoro della dimora.	8 and they will be in charge of al the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting and undertake the dutiesincumbent on the Israelites in serving the Dwel ing.
9 Darai i leviti ad Aronne e ai suoi figli come "donati": essi saranno per lui "donati" da parte dei figli d'Israele.	9 You wil present the Levites to Aaron and his sons as men dedicated; they wil be given to him by theIsraelites.
10 Designerai poi Aronne e i suoi figli, perché custodiscano il proprio sacerdozio: ogni estraneo che si avvicinerà sarà messo a morte".	10 'You will register Aaron and his sons, who wil carry out their priestly duty. But any unauthorisedperson who comes near must be put to death.'
11 Il Signore disse a Mosè:	11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
12 "Ecco, io ho preso i leviti tra i figli d'Israele al posto di ogni primogenito, che apre il grembo tra i figli d'Israele, e saranno leviti per me:	12 'Look, I myself have chosen the Levites from the Israelites instead of all the first-born, those whoemerge first from the womb in Israel; the Levites therefore belong to me.
13 perché mio è ogni primogenito. Nel giorno in cui colpii tutti i primogeniti nella terra d'Egitto, feci santificare per me ogni primogenito in Israele: dall'uomo all'animale; sono miei. Io sono il Signore".	13 For every first-born belongs to me. On the day when I struck down al the first-born in Egypt, Iconsecrated al the first-born in Israel, human and animal, to be my own. They are mine, Yahweh's.'
14 Il Signore ordinò a Mosè nel deserto del Sinai:	14 Yahweh spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai and said:
15 "Passa in rassegna i figli di Levi, secondo le loro case paterne, le loro famiglie: registrerai ogni maschio da un mese in su".	15 'You must take a census of Levi's descendants by families and clans; al the males of the age of onemonth and over wil be counted.'
16 Mosè li registrò secondo la parola del Signore, come aveva ordinato.	16 At Yahweh's word Moses took a census of them, as Yahweh had ordered.
17 Questi furono i figli di Levi secondo i loro nomi: Gherson, Keat e Merari.	17 These were the names of Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
18 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Gherson: Libni e Simei.	18 These were the names of Gershon's sons by their clans: Libni and Shimei;
19 I figli di Keat, secondo le loro famiglie: Amram, Isear, Ebron e Uzziel.	19 Kohath's sons by their clans: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel;
20 I figli di Merari, secondo le loro famiglie: Macli e Musi. Queste sono le famiglie di Levi, secondo le loro case paterne.	20 Merari's sons by their clans: Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi, grouped by families.

34 I loro recensiti, contando tutti i maschi da un mese in su: 6.200.	34 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to six thousand two hundred.
35 Il capo della casa paterna, secondo le famiglie di Merari, è Suriel, figlio di Abicail: si accamperanno nella parte a nord della dimora.	35 The leader of the House of the Merarite clans was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They pitched their camp onthe north side of the Dwel ing.

42 Mosè fece il censimento, come gli aveva ordinato il Signore, di ogni primogenito dei figli d'Israele.	42 As Yahweh ordered, Moses took a census of al the first-born of the Israelites.
43 Ogni primogenito maschio, contando i nomi da un mese in su, secondo il loro censimento: 22.273.	43 The total count, by name, of the first-born from the age of one month and over came to twenty-twothousand two hundred and seventy-three.
44 Il Signore ordinò a Mosè:	44 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said:
45 "Prendi i leviti al posto di ogni primogenito dei figli d'Israele e il bestiame dei leviti al posto del loro bestiame: miei saranno i leviti -- io sono il Signore. --	45 'Take the Levites instead of al the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle instead of theircattle; the Levites will be mine, Yahweh's.
46 Come prezzo di riscatto dei 27 3 che eccedono i leviti tra i primogeniti dei figli d'Israele,	46 For the ransom of the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites in excess of thenumber of Levites,

50 dai primogeniti dei figli d'Israele prese in denaro 1.365 sicli del santuario.	50 he took the money for the first-born of the Israelites: one thousand three hundred and sixty-fiveshekels, by the sanctuary shekel;
51 Mosè diede il denaro del prezzo del riscatto ad Aronne e ai suoi figli, come il Signore gli aveva ordinato.	51 and Moses then handed over their ransom money to Aaron and his sons, at Yahweh's bidding, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
